The “Chelsea is afraid of heights” angle made me want her and R-Truth to start a team together like he did with Carmella
Chelsea had the biggest "holy sh**" moment from my perspective. For a spot like that for a goody, comic relief character. That is really insane.
Chelsea is a treasure. She's really underrated for what she brings to a match.
The fact she is such a solid wrestler and used as comic relief is CRIMINAL

We just had Priest hold the last briefcase for a very long time, with multiple cash in attempts. People complain. We have Drew immediately cashing in and not in a cheap way, which he said he would never do. Punk costing him the belt for a third time is money. It was obvious to me what was going to happen and it was executed nicely. Drew freaking out post show was awesome. Seth also pissed is just a cherry on top.

Also, it further Damien’s underlining story. He has told JD to not interfere because he’s been trying to prove he can retain and be a World Champion that can win on his own. Nothing will come out of it, but Punk just interfere in a clean win.
People complained for Priest because he would try to cash in at the worst time or with no forethought. And Finn shenanigans too.
It didn't need the MITB to get this outcome. Costing Drew at the MITB match would've been enough. It was already the hottest fued before anyways. And for Seth, he doesn't need a reason to hate CM Punk. Everyone knows it. And while yeah, he can't challenge for the belt, it doesn't matter because Gunther is most likely winning in Summerslam so he just has to wait a month. Which we know because the booking basically told us this what was happening.
@@victorperez4554 but, you can't have Cody losing the belt at all and you can't have Gunther losing the belt. So, you want to make LA Knight look like a fool? You know? The money in the bank needs a break. It should be done every few years or something. Maybe it would feel special again. I mean the decline has been dramatic. From Corbin looking like a goof, to people like Otis just losing the briefcase or the absolute worst of all time with Austin Theory losing it on a US title cash in. But, the way Drew did it was just perfect for the solution to not having either champion lose it and not making the challenger look like a chump. To the detail about how Drew said he'd never do a cheap cash in because he was cashed in on twice with a cheap way. It's such good shit pal!

The only issue about the MITB case, is this was yet another time we punished fans for believing in Jey. LA Knight is dethroning Logan Paul yeah. So this’ll instantly be paid off on his end. Some of these guys are gonna heat up like crazy over the next year. Jey USO’s whole arch needs to culminate in a big win of some kind before they drop him back into tag team competition.
I can only assume they are leaving him open to get back involved with the Bloodline
What does the guy have to do. He already sells more merch then just about anyone. He invests the fans like no one else. It's time.
Yeah, this is honestly my big issue. I don't want to see Jey get lopped back in with the Bloodline just to play second fiddle to Roman, or even worse, end up in the tag team division again. The dude is over as hell as a singles star, he gets louder pops than basically anybody else and he is 2 of the top 5 highest selling merchandise items. The guy needs his big singles win.

People mad, or supposedly mad about Bron losing, just thought he was gonna win and thought they knew everything, and then he lost. There's nothing about one loss that kills a character, nothing about failing in your first title shot that's a disaster. It's baseless. But they can say what they need to say.
At this point even Damien Priest should be irritated with Punk given the whole "I'm going to prove myself without help" angle he has going, and Punk has interfered twice in his PLE matches. Although you could argue hes only in the position to keep proving himself because of Punk.
@@devilinwest you could see Priest was irritated at the end of the match. Could have been due to the botched three count (likely because Drew’s music was supposed to hit sooner), but he seemed annoyed with Punk’s interference as well. Either way, he should absolutely use that as an “I want to shut up the doubters and haters, so if everyone could stop interfering in my GD matches that’d be great” angle.

That's actually a GREAT point! He also looked annoyed last night after the match! Perhaps this becomes a kind of four way feud, though Punk's involvement may never go past screwing Drew! There's no telling what he will injure next time he is in the ring!

I always picture Drew and Punk backstage after screwing each other over constantly, beating the Christ out of eachother. Then they go to the back, shake hands, and chuckle at the frenzy they whipped the crowd into (myself included). I know I dont have to pay to see PLE's, but I'd pay PPV price to see their first match.
What people don't realize is that this interruption wasn't only meant to build up the Drew/Punk feud. It is also meant to plant seeds for Seth/Punk.
That may be the most detrimental missed music cue in wrestling history. So much of that finish was dependent on that cue hitting the mark precisely. I bet they did it in rehearsals 15 times with no problem. And sadly not having that really well timed, super memorable moment was sort of the lynch pin for the whole show. The entire show suffered because that music cue was half a second late.
Yeah. Drew’s music was probably supposed to hit while the ref was counting.
I wonder if Damien had his bell rung, if you watch the knee right before the falcon arrow and then watch his face when the lands he kinda looks out of it

@@Janthdanl nah, I'm 99.99 percent sure he was just listening for the music to hit and couldn't see the ref from his angle, so he couldn't tell if he needed to kick or not.
At first I hated what they did with Drew, CM Punk, and the wasted cash in, but this really does set up a hotter feud between those two, plus matches between Seth and Punk. It even potentially sets up something in the future between Damian Priest and CM Punk, because Priest (even though he got the win) would be pissed off that, once again, he doesn’t get to prove that he can win a big title defense match without interference, which is why he keeps telling Judgment Day to stay in the back. That frustrated look after he pinned Drew may have had to do with the botched count and no kick out, but I think it was also his frustration, because he still didn’t get his big solo win.
Plus now we don’t have to hear people complain when the person holding the briefcase doesn’t cash in
If anything it took a 5* feud and turned it into a... 5* feud.. It just kept it the same, and for me, it actually made it worse because it made Drew look weak.. and stupid.. Smart heels don't add themselves into a match, they use it when the opponent is beat up and at a disadvantage. Only stupid faces add themselves into a match or try when the opponent is fully healthy and expecting it.

@@maxnorton1209 yeah, I mean I still hate it, even if they had no intention of having any of the other people cash in and win, if still could've elevated them.
Also I think they should never have a MITB match without at least the majority being believable cash-ins, at least to me. Carmello wasn't believable in the slightest, to me anyway. He's good, but he hadn't gotten the kind of push that would make me believe that he could win the big one yet. Andrade too, he's an incredible wrestler, but they haven't done anything that would make me believe he could win even a Mid card title at this point.
And I LOVE Gable, he is an AMAZING wrestler, and his most recent work is Soo good. However in my eyes they won't even let him win a mid card title, so I don't think I can see them ever putting the big belt on him... Unfortunately. I'd LOVE to see him be a one off champion! And definitely many mid card titles, if he was 6'1, he'd be the closest thing to Angle we'll ever get.
Good thing Drew's sword Angela was on sabbatical.
The women's ladder match was brutal in all the best ways. I was genuinely concerned for them a few times. They went HARD.
Tbh it’ll kinda be nice having a year of “why didn’t they cash in when this champion had his pants down??????” That shit always annoys me
We still might, just in the Women's division! Though something tells me that Tiffy might end up using the case after Nia wins to beat her and end their buddy-buddy stuff. I can't WAIT to see that!

That women's MITB match was match of the night for me. I would have liked for Iyo to win again, but her performance in the match makes up for her not winning. Tiffy deserves it, and honestly I just really hope Zoey, Iyo, and Lyra are okay after the complete chaos that was the best MITB match I have ever seen ❤
I honestly think Naomi should’ve won the MITB, but it will be interesting to see what Tiffany will do with it.

@@sjceezy that’s what I’m saying. They brought her back to just not do anything with her. They had her qualify for Elimination Chamber and lose, had her qualify for Money In The Bank and lose, they aren’t doing anything but having her win qualifying matches then lose the actual big match. I am glad they gave her a match at WrestleMania at least she was given that but she’s championship material they just gotta give her something to work with and she can show them.

The women's MitB was amazing. Pretty good show overall and it didn't seem like anyone got hurt. That's a win to me!

I do like that you are finding the positives in the MITB situation instead of shitting all over it like all of us. I am not a fan of the move, but I have faith it’ll lead to something better. The botched pin in that match was kind of rough, but I agree no one feels worse than whom ever botched that moment.
I think you missed the Priest is also pissed at Punk.
I hadn't thought about it either until I saw another comment mention his whole schtick lately! He WAS visibly annoyed after the match last night! Will be VERY interesting to see where this whole thing goes from here.
I don’t get why people are so upset over the Drew cash in. Both title pictures right now are booked up and very complex. The world heavyweight title having Damian and Seth and Gunther etc and the WWE title having Solo and Randy and probably Roman and Rock at some point. Sometimes you just don’t need to add an unnecessary layer to things.
It’s a waste of the briefcase we didn’t need to elevate the feud, he cost drew at wreslemainia and clash at the castle they don’t need drew to be money in the bank when you could have Jey who needs it can have it.
1. Just because they are packed doesn't make it a good decision
2. the whole point of the MITB is to build stars , this is the second straight year the hottest wrestler on the planet didn't win

@@WildmontGamingthat’s not true. The audience might want to think that but there have been numerous cases where the MITB was won by the top star or someone that didn’t need elevation. It’s more so a key piece in stories nowadays not an elevation tool for up and coming stars
The failed cash in by Drew helps to further so many stories.
Firstly, Drew and Punk continue to ruin each others lives.
Secondly, Seth Rollins was pissed at Punk for getting in his way, furthering their would-have-been Mania feud.
Thirdly (and possibly most importantly), Damian Priest did not want any help retaining his title from the Judgment Day. They honoured their word but Priest STILL needed help to win from Punk (whether intentional or not).
Now Finn has more ammo to use against Damian and with Gunther on the horizon, I loved this whole thing.

I really like this gradual escalation in animosity between Punk and Drew! It's gone from sly verbal digs at each other to straight up blood feud territory with each wanting to hurt the other in increasingly violent ways. Like did u see those chair shots??! Shit was brutal!! Let them fight as they say!
I’m kinda tired of the briefcase gimmick anyways- so I don’t mind them killing it off to build up the blood feud and now introduce Seth Rollins into the mix. Totally fine with it.
Wasting the mitb for nothing is one thing, but using it to further the feud of the year is another. They probably have a solid plan for both titles that couldn’t factor in the briefcase.
Go r to Gable to cash in on i.c. title. Theory already did it, but it wouldn't make a lot of sense of gable was to do that since his eyes are only set on that title and he does not care about any world titles. I feel like it would have put the intercontinental over as a top belt actually but also elevate Gable. I'd never say to do this on a mid card title but with what happened and I see the w.h. titles are booked, why waste it

The feud didn’t need any more heat on it. If they did there’s plenty of ways to go about it. They didn’t NEED to do this

Personally, i didnt mind the mens briefcase being used for the feud. It makes perfect sense and I'm happy to see the women's briefcase kept for a longer story.
My issues with the show were these:
Sami winning that match with just one helluva kick felt really wrong. Bron Breaker has been red hot recently and for him to just get knocked out by one move that others have kicked out of a few times feels weird. If it had been a brainbustah or blue thunder bomb followed by a helluva kick sure, but overall I'm not sure how to feel. I love that Sami had his moment, i just wish we had protected Bron a lil more although I totally get your points and we'll see in the next few shows.
Secondly, the women's MITB match should have main evented. That three way tag team match was fine, but with no surprise return and I personally didnt think you needed Cody being pinned to be the main event. That women's match was incredible and would have been a great way to end the show.
Also, i do feel like we missed a lot of different shenanigan opportunities for the mens MITB. There was nothing with the bloodline, legado del phantasma, wyatt6 or logan paul which, granted isnt needed, but did feel a bit weird given all the directions we were going. Just surprised me more than anything.
Anyway, those are my opinions, overall a fine show but it certainly makes me curious as to where we're heading. keep being awesome Simon

I agree I feel like our enjoyment was hindered because of all the crazy things we expected with the bloodline Roman reigns Jimmy Uso, and money in the bank Wyatt six Legado Logan Paul so I agree I felt like I was expecting it to especially when the ref bump happened in the bloodline match. I was like oh the third brother of the tongans is gonna come out and that didn’t happen so I agree with you 100%.
The womans ladder match was insane!!

When you think about it, Seth should not be mad at Punk for the match because it was Drew who got involved and turned the match into chaos.
This statement is nearly as ridiculous as all the people whining about the Men's Case being "wasted", and I mean it's only off by FRACTIONS, VERY small FRACTIONS!!!!!
Drew with the most straightforward cash in ever. The ref just nodded and took it, no "ARE YOU SURE???" or confusion or anything. It was shocking.
The issue this time was Samantha Irvin yapping too long before they could ring the bell 😅
Both ladder matches were outstanding and had me trippin’ balls throughout.

I agree with you on this PLE. It was alright, not superb. The Drew/Punk angle gets more buildup, and the Seth/Punk angle does. The women's ladder match was terrifying. Some of those bumps! It really acted as a "coming attraction" for Summer Slam.
Tiffy definitely deserved it. But I think Mommy Iyo was the mvp of the ladder match from an in-ring perspective, and Chelsea was the MVP from an entertainment perspective.
That Iyo/Zoe spot was insane.
I wish I had even 5% of Simon’s eternal optimism. Love ya in that wrestling bros kind of way !
Once I got past the “aw man, now we don’t get the suspense of a cash-in”, I realized this use of the briefcase is the best way they could’ve used it to build a story. I would’ve loved to see someone like Gable win it, but that wasn’t happening this year in any universe. Jey has the OG Bloodline reunion coming up.

Women's money in the bank was by far the best match of the night. Plus it had a line that had me absolutely rolling. "The Women's Money In The Bank....brought to you by The Boys"....didn't think about that one did they? lol But yeah, was a great PLE and I can't wait to see more unhinged Drew!!
They should have said "Girls get it done." at least once.
People saying the women’s MITB match being sloppy are just so used to seeing the synchronized swimming on AEW
interesting to see how that pin botch plays out and what Seth has to say as he reacted to it. Other than that I thought that match was pretty good, I've missed Seth it's nice to have him back
I looked into Chelsea greens work pre-wwe and ever since then she’s been one of my favorite women on the roster because she is underrated and an actual badass. Her character work on top of that makes her one of the best without people even realizing it! I would’ve been 200% ok with her winning last night but ITS TIFFY TIME

MITB setup all the matches in Summer Slam perfectly. This PLE did exactly what it needed to do and the crowd was correct, "THIS WAS AWESOME'.
The ladies stole the show once again. Booking Sami as some Hulk Hogan type character is ridiculous and whatever happened in that damn match with Seth just cannot happen.

It also now believably add Seth Rollins into the feud, without this match. Seth could have come out and called out fun, but it’s much more believable now since they’ve been on the same show for months and haven’t run into each other in that time.
Simon I’m with ya, the Tiffy time briefcase run should be very long and very fun. The Mark in me woulda preferred Drew to hold the briefcase till Punk ended up w the title but hey the King Gunther world heavyweight run is inevitable
By definition the briefcase is a vehicle to further a storyline. The hold it for 6+ months constantly teasing a cash in is hackneyed. I'm all for how it played it (aside from the botch before Drew's music hit).
All good points Simon, makes sense, main point is WWE is so good right now, just hitting all cylinders!

@@darkgaming8883 That’s most definitely why certain people are upset about the outcome, because once they saw LA Knight, Jey Uso, and Chad Gable in the match they automatically thought one of them was about to win a world championship. Even I knew that wasn’t going to happen.

Here’s the thing. We could have gotten to this exact scenario with Drew and Punk without wasting the briefcase. If Punk had came out during the ladder match a screwed Drew as he was getting the briefcase we still be in the same place narratively. So I don’t get wasting the briefcase like that.
Priest's eyes were open but unfortunately the ref was postioned too far back for him the see the hand coming down for the 3. I think Drew's music hit at the right time, we would have had the OMG face on Seth because of the kickout and then the smirk when he realized what was happening 6:05
A triple threat for title of Hater of the Year at Summerslam is the match I didn’t know we all needed
Drew getting screwed was a close 2nd for me. My 1st favourite scenario is Jey winning it then cashing in on Drew woth CM Punk's help in almost an identical fashion to Priest at WM40
Simon I gotta say I just enjoyed myself watching it, I'm kinda like you I had fun, I laughed, I cried, I cringed, and at one point I held my head out of my window screaming for help like a madman but I had fun. And I also had fun watching your video, so thanks!
I was at the show & the crowd was very much into the show. They were expecting Randy Orton to turn on Cody.
What if Cm wins the title before Mania , Cena wins the Rumble and they both go out as the main Event at Vegas Mania?
I can't argue with Simon's analysis. I thought Bron would win but the loss won't hurt him and Sami deserves to have a good run with the belt and needs to or it'll do damage to him beating Gunther. The ladder matches were both great but the women did take it, all of them deserve credit I was actually scared for them with some of those bumps most of them will be in some pain today. The six man was fully expected in the build for Summer Slam and Drew cashing in was played just right aside from Drew's music not going off in time resulting in a three count that should have been but it does heat that fued to the extreme and gets the Rollins Punk storyline back on track. As long as Tiffy's cash in is given time and handled well all good. Long-term story telling here to stay hopefully and I'm looking forward to Roman coming back to find that Rock is the actual head of the table in the shadows all along. The only real issue I have is that the trigger needs to be pulled on Jey getting a world title before long or his momentum might get lost, maybe win the Rumble and win at Mania as long as they can keep him in good stories from now till then 🤞🏽
I agree I like that the Womens MITB will help make a star and differently the men's MITB furthers a feud and re-introduces Seth to the feud.
I wonder if Priest got light headed from all the back and forth and had that light headed “blackout” that happens sometimes. He looked really dazed and out of it when Seth was pinning him
Pretty sure Damian Wa supposed to kick out. You can see the look on his face after he doesn’t and you can see him apologize to Seth immediately. He also looks incredibly disappointed in himself after the match.
Not only does CM Punk have to worry about Drew McIntyre, he also has to worry about Seth Rollins because he screwed Seth over as well
I honestly enjoyed it. Most the story beats were the ones that made the most sense. Drew and punks fued spilling into seth rollins is a good touch. If he's not in the title picture he needs something big. Tiffy time is a good time. No arguement there. Sammy winning was a surprise but im ok with it. Only thing I wanted was when chad was at the top of a ladder, there was a 2nd ladder also in position. I wanted the lights to go out, then turn back on with howdy or any of the wyatt sicks at the top of the other ladder. Chad freaks. Lights go out again and they're both just gone
I love it and couldn't agree more. This build could really pay off big for all the players in the main event. I'm eager to see where they're going with this
If it were me, Knight wins. HHH would never allow that. Barring that, it completely makes sense to "waste" the briefcase. I understand that some people are pissed about "wasting the briefcase", but you have to look at what they're doing. Cody will never lose his title to anybody but Rock or Reigns, and Gunther is one of HHH's most protected projects, who is about to win Priests title and probably hold it for a year or close to it, so whoever won the briefcase was not going to cash in successfully. Thanks for another great vid, Simon! Of all the TH-camrs out there I always find your thoughts are the most inline with mine. I love that we had something different for the men's MITB and we don't have to have another year of teases and the same "Mr. MITB" promos. It's been that way for ages. Drew cashing in as soon as he won it makes complete sense for his character. CM Punk coming out to ruin it for him makes complete sense for his character. It took this rivalry to another level and it feels so much more real than any other fued I can think of. Plus we now get to put the focus on the women's MITB winner for a while and Tiffy will be great in that role.
I thought the show was perfectly ok. Nothing too crazy happened but strong builds continue. The women's MITB stole the show and Jacob Fatu absolutely stands out as a mega star. My only personal gripe is that we had no Wyatt Sicks stuff as I'm super into them and what they're doing. But I also fully trust the process of how they're being booked so far, so I'm happy to keep seeing where that goes.
As someone who's been out of the loop for the last few months, but had bought tickets what feels like a year ago I've gotta say I had a ton of fun. Personally I preferred the AEW Dynamite I went to when they were in Toronto, but that's mostly due to the Adam (Edge) VS Christian match & my history enjoying their antics over the years.
I've still gotta watch back the broadcast to see if I ended up on screen with my dad (we were wearing "Excellence" T-shirts as a tag team) during Jey Uso's entrance.
Also I'm not sure if cameras captured it, but Seth looked like he was pissed at CM Punk too, so maybe we'll be getting something with them in the future too.
Though the highlight for us was this family at the pre-show party we attended where one son was dressed as Cody & their daughter was dress as the "Nature Girl". I just love seeing kids have fun with all the things I loved as a kid & still do, warms my heart.

I knew exactly how it would pan out from start to finish. The only thing I guessed wrong was that Drew was going to cash in after the match and not during. I still had fun. They were a couple too many botches but other than nothing to complain. Chelsea Green is amazing and deserves more credit. Tiffany is going to be a mega star.
As fueds go the CM Punk vs McIntyre fued is going pretty damn good tbf, it almost reminds me of the epic Austin vs HHH fued.
With the Priest - Rollins match I expected the cash in .... But goddamn I forgot the CM Punk element 😂😂 ... This is the beauty of WWE these days , its all about the storylines ... Right direction, absolutely, but the Rollins element being thrown in adds longetivity to this particular storyline ... Summer slam is gonna be huge ... Tiffany winning MITB was somewhat unexpected, it depends in who and when she cashes,in on ... Good times ahead
The CM Punk interference should have happened during the ladder match. Sacrificing the anticipation of the briefcase wasn’t worth building a story more. Especially a story that’s already heavily built.
I am with Simon. I loved it all. And the Women' Money in the Bank match was the one of the best MITB matches ever (mens or womens). Brutal in the best ways. Just nuts.

WWE used to have this story turn where you take two blood rivals and 'make them have to live with eachother'. They do it on the run up to big matches (e.g. Rock and Cena v Awesome Truth).
The Punk/Drew feud is getting so destructive an incredible pivot would be to make them partner and have to win the tag team gold by summerslam of they are both 'fired' / suspended or barred from competing at a Wrestlemania main event.
They set up so much long term story telling. Throughout the whole night. Not to mention, Gunther will bring all the honor and prestige back to that belt when he destroys priest
I like that Simon brought up Rollins. That seems to be what everyone is forgetting when they bitch about the ending. Punk screwed Rollins too and now we are gonna have an awesome 3-way super feud that doesn't need the briefcase getting in the way. This is gonna be a good thing as long as Punk can stay healthy for like 4 minutes.
Tiffy Times makes the most sense, imo. It is her gimmick. Chelsea isn't in it for the wins, even though we all are here for her!
I don't get the excuses about the Priest botch. It completely took people out of the moment. And this is 5 PLEs in a row with major botches. Seth beat Priest in the botch spot so he should get another shot at the title. It completely broke the match and submersion. So now Seth vs punk makes no sense. Seth also told Drew for months to get over the bloodline and move on, he won't move on; making him a hypocrite.
The person John Cena should meet at WrestleMania in the Main event is CM Punk.
I'm just worried for Tonga loa and Iyo. Tonga look d like he hit his head hard on the announce table. Iyo looked like she was actually hurt after the big spot with her towards the end.
Now Seth is going to be included in the Drew/Punk feud setting up a big triple threat match at Summer Slam
I think the decision with Bron Breakker was actually good - Lots of potential and time will come - this was the rub he needed - a blood and guts war with a veteran where he was an overpowering force - physically superior, massively and super athletic - but learned valuable lessons during the course from a wily competitor who pulled out every trick in the book and managed to win because of experience... It gave the vibe that Bron leveled up with this match and 6 months down the line and he wins hands down. Not even a contest.

I'm shocked so many people didn't see so much of this coming! Drew said he was going to come out of this with the belt, Punk said he was going to keep Drew from EVER winning, pay attention to what gets said! I also thought Priest held onto the MITB for almost too long, so it wasn't going to last this time. No matter who won, Gunther will likely win at SummerSlam.
