It's a novelty guitar made out of a classic punk symbol. It's goofy, but it's a novelty, and overall... okay? It seems fine for what it is. Basically a Bo Diddley guitar with a themed design.
MGK is MGK as usual. Abuse of shock value and I feel it is gratuitous. And kids, go look up the word gratuitous for a homework assignment for tonight. Make sure you have that whole definition of that word memorized, gratuitous.
You nailed it when you said people need to just ignore this stuff - there’s a serious lack of perspective from people who buy into and follow celebs culture. For people to be commenting on a band or artists social media pages asking for them to speak on conflicts/wars is so beyond me. I see it all the time and wonder if these people have nothing better to do than blindly follow.

Ronnie Radke was absolutely not the voice of reason in this. He inserted himself into a situation that didn't involve himself and threatened numerous people. If that is your idea of the voice of reason, then you probably lack reason yourself.
@@charlespeter5610 Did he? Not that any of that would be suprising, that's just what he does these days (I do like Falling in reverse though, except for the disappointing Papa Roach cover), threaten people on the internet for clicks because he knows that works. No offense but god damn I hate when people say shit like this. It's easy to get your name out when you have absolutely no principles or standards and don't care what kind of attention you get. Nah, we don't have to give people props for that lol.
I swear Finn astroplanes into MGKs dreams and tells him dumb shit to do so he can react to it and raise his family on MGK dollars (it’s a noble living)
It's not like that at all. he puts himself in dumb situations with Eminem, cory Taylor, talking to teens girls inappropriately. Then comes out and blatantly lied about the lyric meaning? There's NO WAY those lyrics are about him having a shave because he can't sit still. That's just dumb to believe that shite The guitar is awful. And it does look like a promotion of self harm with the lyrics included. But he does all of that, and everyone like. Awww poor MGK. He's being picked on. Give me a break. I'm no MGK hater. I've liked a few if his songs. But it's his actions. He's an idiot who gets off on attention all the time, then when he's not getting all perfect things said about him. He goes on the war path. Everyone gets negative comments. In that business everyone. But they don't all make a big stink about it. So then it looks like he's being bullied. He gets plenty of positive responses. So why doesn't he just ignore the crap. Having a baby fit and slagging off Cory Taylor because he didn't want to do a Collab with him. Calling them old men in masks, that's why people don't like him. There was no need for him to say that because he didn't get the answer he wanted. That's pathetic. But it's poor MGK now. Please. And putting MGK next to the likes of Judas priest and the sex pistols in any way is the biggest insult going. He'll never be anything they're or were.
If a guitar player from Judas Priest came out with this guitar they would've been celebrated. But all press is good press, so another win for MGK honestly.
I used to self-a when I wasnt doing so well as a young adult and tbh, I didnt think about that by myself, I heard about it on the internet and went "heh, why not". That being said, an expensive ugly guitar would not have made me do it tho. I still don't know what to think about self-a, to me it was just a symptom, just eliminating it without fixing what made you want to do it in the first place is pointless, if anything, it gives a visible problem to an invisible one, makes it easier to ask for help, I know it did for me. But if anybody is thinking about doing that, maybe skip that "step" and go straight to asking for help.
When I was a teenager I had a Bush necklace from their “Razorblade Suitcase” album. It was a razor blade with “Bush” written on it. I wore that thing EVERYDAY to a conservative high school in Texas. No one ever said anything. I could NOT wear capris because those showed my ankles, but the razor blade necklace was completely fine.
I'm a die hard Metal Fan and I love MGK!! I believe his Pop Punk albums are Masterpieces.I also think he's a Damn good Actor! No one has ever given me a hard time for enjoying his music.
You´re making a fantastic point with these people being bothered by stupid shit that doesn´t really matter compared to the shit that goes on in the world, except you´ve missed the part where that´s your entire channel and career aswell. But you know, I guess you look really cool when you say that, you really got them, good for you mate.
I think a LOT of people who are constantly on social media have reached the point where they can process what is immediately in front of them. MGK is famous and active on twitter, so they see him often, and therefor are upset because other people have told them to be, or to be triggered by certain things. Twitter also seems to have a culture of looking for things to be bad, almost as though a good faith approach to anything is morally wrong.
So MGK hasn't done or said anything stupid at all to deserve this. He runs his mouth at people Ike Eminem and Cory Taylor, speaks to teen girl's inappropriately. And he's being bullied. For real? He asked if slipknot would do a Collab with him. They said no. So he makes post's about them being old has been in masks they are and then cries about it when Cory claps bk. Then his explanation for the meaning of this song. There's no way it's on about him having a shave. He should have just owned it. Plenty of other bands get abuse. That's what life is now if you're famous. You either get on with it or cry about it. He's got enough of a following to just focus on that. But he's always in the media for stupid stuff. People can't have an opinion unless it's a glowing 1 or MGK and Stan's are throwing a hissy fit. Come on now if he can run his motor mouth like he does. He can take the clap bk. But don't make up BS about it.😂
Totally agree with the guitar situation, it's dumb and it's spiraled into a mess. I can't say Ronnie is being reasonable when he challenged Devin from Bogg to a fight, flexes his position in the industry, then ducks out, and threatens to doxx Devin. Would've been all fun if all that happened was memein on eachother but it's kinda gotten out of control
Exactly. Same with MGK calling Eminem and Cory Taylor out. Then Plays the badly done to card. Talking to teenage girls inappropriately, then saying, well I'm just a teenager aswell. is ridiculous thing to say, when he's 19 and the girl is 14. He's a big mouth and so is Ronnie, then they're like. I'm bullied in this industry, instead of owning what they've done and said. It's a joke. Asif those lyrics mean him having a shave. OMG . He's created this himself.
From a marketing perspective, MGK really knows how to draw attention. If he had just made a "solid/standard looking" guitar, nobody would've had anything to say about it, but by making such an absurd design (I mean aesthetically, not conceptually), he's getting a lot of free advertisement for it.
Which he actually did last year when Schecter came out with his own guitar and it was just a black guitar with a Double X on the fretboard, then some fucking loser from Guitar Center tried to get clout making fun of MGK using a kill switch (which in turn the loser was using it wrong)
He did make a very normal looking guitar! And the internet still managed to freak out and be angry about it. It doesn't matter what it is, if he does it they'll be mad. It could be a normal stock black stratocaster and they'd freak out and say it's the ugliest guitar they've ever seen.
@@MrLSDownlinerIt's because a guy that can't play anything other than basic power chords at best doesn't deserve to have a signature model. They’re pretty good! Their singer just had a maaaaaaajjjjjjoooooorrrr reach on Twitter and looked like a thin skinned boomer. Easy to tune out at least
I didn’t engage with any further Twitter drama after my tweet because like you said “turning something into a big deal that’s actually not a big deal at all.” The internet is not a real place but I saw an ugly ass guitar from Schecter which I interpreted as a guitar for the emo kids glorying the ideas of self-harm. So I called out Schecter. It’s how I truthfully saw it, a quick cash cow idea on romanticizing the emo cliches. Then I walked my dog, did some stuff and some saw MGK replied to me!? So I didn’t expect any of this and since I’m a talking point to a lot of this I wish you used my recent response video from TH-cam. I address a lot of the things you said and it would be nice to use to cover this weird blown out of proportion story. But I assume this was filmed prior to my recent response video being published. But maybe this whole conversation brought up something important which is just MAYBE Finn, not just MGK but the whole emo scene has been glorifying self-harm for a long time now? With lyrics, imagery and more… and sure it’s cathartic to listen to for many… but maybe we’re also romanticizing it too? I personally see so many people who suffer in the scene from low mental health and I wish there were more positive influences. I feel empathetic for people and I would like to see more positivity in the scene, and sometimes to see positives you have to call out negatives, so that’s why I tweeted at Schecter in my original tweet. But like you said to me, we’re nobodies to MGK so why does it even matter to him? It’s still going to sell (probably even more now) but this whole guitar brought up a conversation about mental health in the scene (which I think needs to be addressed). So like I said in my response video but MGK wanted people to talk about his guitar and he won. We’re all talking about it.
Just to be clear I recorded this last week, before you made that video! But I thought your response was great. Also, I completely agree that alternative music is full of negative messaging that encourages dysfunctional behavior. I've talked about this in TONS AND TONS of videos, and got met with nothing but rage and criticism in response.
@metalbirb @finnmckentyprmba Guys, don't forget, that without this negative emotional stuff this music wouldn't exist at all. It is an essential part. No one would listen to heavy songs about pink unicorns and total happiness seriously
@@PPPasha5 No, that's bullshit. Bad Brains was writing songs about positive mental attitude back in the early 80s. Hardcore has always had an undercurrent of positivity, unity, and being supportive to your family, friends, and community.
I like MGK, not his music per se, but the fact he’s keeping rock music relevant in the mainstream. I grew up playing guitar listening to rage, white zombie, satriani etc…. The radio was riddled with guitars in all shapes and sizes and it was great. Now a days everything is 808’s and music made with software. Be grateful someone’s trying to keep the top 40 with some instruments going still, regardless of how you feel about the music itself. This keeps the door open for someone who you may like to break through.

What I find most interesting about the outrage surrounding the guitar is that MGK addressed this issue and explained it referred to the chorus of the title track on tickets. "I use a razor to take off the edge jump off a ledge they said. Take the laser aim at my head and paint the walls red I said" Funny this songs been out for years and nobody be bitching about those lyrics but when it's an instrument - comically large and not sharp at all - everyone's panties are suddenly filled with sand. Time to develop some resilience people. (btw that song is awesome and I ❤ MGK so yes I'm biased) If this comment annoys you just know I won't read even 1 reply to it so fire away if it makes you feel better because it won't ruin my day. Cheers
I’m a fan of MGK because he always is doing something. Like it or not, he forges ahead with his businesses, dresses in different outfits, Models clothes for Dolce and Gabbana, music, rap, videos, collaborations, appearances on shows like 50 years of hip hop, a recent commercial for the NFL just yesterday as of 1/14/24, sold out shows, (yes he sells out), designs jewelry, owns a nail business. Ironic that people says he’s a jerk. Sometimes Metal fans can be jerks. Many of MGK videos have over 200 million views. He just did a commercial for FOX NFL just yesterday. Yep, he is doing terrible 😂
From a design standpoint it just seems like an edgier take on Bo Diddley’s rectangular guitar design. It could be also Schecter wanting to see how far they can go with minimal CNC to the piece of wood itself as long as it has a finish and electronics.
That thing had got to have some unreasonable neck dive. I can’t even imagine how you would play a live set on it. You’d spend the whole time supporting the neck. It’s basically just an unbalanced rectangle…..
I have struggled with self harm in the past, and I don't think this glorifies that in any way. I also think it's a cool look for a guitar. I can totally see this being used by some hardcore punk bands or metal bands.
Honestly, there are legit reasons to not like MGK as a person. As a musician, he outdid himself with Tickets to My Downfall...easily one of my favorites albums of the Pop-Punk/Emo-Pop Revival! We won't talk about his other album...
Thanks for the Good Hangs recommendation! I love their stuff so far. Their songs, Local Scene, I'm in Hell & I Watched All My Friends Fade Out are my new driving songs. ♡♡
to say “this is the state of the scene” about rock and metal bc of some dorks on twitter. is a bit of an overstatement , i have literally not once heard his name come up at a metal or punk gig once
Didn’t have Finn defending MGL on my 2024 bingo card, but he is spot on. The more hate you pile on MGK, the more attention he gets. If you want him to “go away”, just ignore him. It’s that easy
I have severe PTSD related to a suicide I witnessed, and I have been hospitalized for suicidal ideation, but this guitar does not trigger me in the slightest--in fact, it makes me think of the punk aesthetic. Some people need to stop looking for someone to hate and/or work on themselves--it's not becoming of anyone to complain about, and shit, on someone else. You know what's becoming? Squeezing some boobies.
That's interesting. I witnessed a suicide when I was 10. It doesn't trigger me either and you're right, people need to stop looking for things to be upset about and go outside. Keep on keepin' on bro 👌
Thank you for pointing this out, I cannot believe haters spend their time spreading negative energy and bonding over a person they dont even know but still utterly hate, instead of working on themselves or other important problems. Smh
MGK looks like a dude who sells gaudy switchblade knifes with dragons on the handle at a stand at the county fair. His new signature guitar fits that trailer trash aesthetic perfectly.
The part about the sight of a razor blade causing self harm and comparing it to alcoholism is dead on. It would be like someone being upset and claiming that Michael Anthony from Van Halen caused them to become an alcoholic from seeing him play a bass that looked like a Jack Daniels bottle. Ridiculous.
This guitar is also a tribute to the FIRST SONG of his FIRST ROCK ALBUM. The song is called “title track”. And he explains that in the verse “I use a razor blade to take off the edge” he’s literally saying that the moments he’s shaving his beard is one of the few times in the day he feels calm. - Not everybody should know this, but you must know the situation before you criticize it.
Dimebag/Pantera used razorblades in a lot of imagery and even sold a christmas decoration that was literally a razorblade, nobody says a peep about that. What about all the bullet belts that bands wear, doesn't that glorify gun violence by the same logic? Metalheads still get their panties in a twist over Tipper Gore crusading against metal in the 80s because it apparently promotes suicide, self-harm, violence, etc. but are now turning around and doing the exact same thing to MGK. I'm not an MGK fan either but you can't have your cake and eat it too. It boils down to this: If it's something I like with dark imagery it's artistic expression. If it's something I don't like with dark imagery it's glorifying violence, self-harm, addiction, etc.
Finn, I really enjoy your well thought out and experienced opinions but I think you’re missing the mark here. Personally I don’t see it as the image causes people to want to self harm but rather that self harm is a very prevalent issue in most alt rock scenes and he is making money off this. Depression and superslide aren’t issues that only face these groups however it has been a large theme in alt rock and rap (emo punk etc) forever. It is the profiting off of this issue and problem that is the real issue. I don’t think anyone is seeing this and going to cause self harm but the fact that he’s making money off a theme that is related to the deaths of millions of teens and adults. Also his fanbase is majority girls and teen girls at that, he is talking to children most definitely, while this may not be aimed that them, it’s a part of his brand and that’s super lame. He speaks to millions and millions that’s why no one gives a fuck about cannibal corpse, they aren’t massive and have little girl or kid fans. We’re not dog piling on MGK, this could have been anyone, it’s just morally in bad taste. Gotta call a spade a spade.
you're way off. the razor actually has a meaning for him and it relates to one of the songs of his album. all his fans know the meaning of the razor and he has explained it before and no, it has nothing to do with self-harm. i do think the conversation around self-harm and mental health in the community is important but in this case for the most part ppl just want to be mad at MGK and use the "he's glorifying self-harm" narrative as an excuse to hate on him some more. people are free to to interpret the guitar how they wish but it's one thing to have a personal interpretation and it's another to claim your personal interpretation is what MGK was trying to convey. also no his fanbase is not majority little kids, he has some younger fans but majority is grown. he has a lot of very explicit lyrics in his songs especially his rap stuff so if little kids are listening to his music maybe it's more of a parental issue.
It’s noteworthy that the Finnish band HIM also employs razor blade iconography, particularly in their album ‘Razorblade Romance.’ This symbol is a recurring element throughout their discography but is especially prominent in this album. Broadly speaking, the use of razor blades in rock subgenres like punk, emo, and gothic rock often symbolizes themes ranging from emotional struggle and defiance to introspection and the darker aspects of human experience. Different genres and artists adopt this potent symbol in varied contexts, each infusing it with their unique interpretation while being mindful of its sensitive implications, especially in relation to themes of pain or self-harm. Speaking of which, I have my doubts about Machine Gun Kelly, or MGK, contemplating this iconography with the same depth. Not to sound judgmental, but conveying deep, meaningful themes traditionally requires authenticity and a less commercial approach. While there’s nothing wrong with making money, the essence of being alternative or punk has always been about bringing your most genuine self to your art. It feels like there could be a more authentic, less cringe-worthy way to engage with these themes, especially in a genre that values realness and raw expression.
Now, I think that this guitar looks like shit and it probably plays really uncomfortably, but this whole self-harm thing is just ridiculous. The first time I saw it, I didn’t think it looked like razor blade. I thought it looked like a cereal box.
I think he triggers everyone because he’s a goddamn cringe lord and the only time we ever hear about him, the shit is “cringe.” I think many of us collectively wish he’d just kind of go away already lol. Who knows, that’s probably just how I feel 🙂
Ironically, the way to make him go away is the ignore and stop talking about him, yet everyone constantly blabs about him online, doing the exact opposite.
it's only cringe because you guys make it cringe. the dude has a new guitar and suddenly everyone is triggered. he didn't even say anything about it, metalhead fans were the ones who started spreading the narrative that he was glorifying self-harm and pushing bad messages onto kids. i'm not saying people have to like him or the things he drops but it's hilarious how the same people saying he's cringe and wanting him to go away are the same ones giving him so much attention and being SO mad at the stuff he does even tho they claim he's a poser and they claim they don't care about him, they clearly do.
I agree with every word you said Fin! You nailed it spot on. It’s just a guitar. And Ronnie is the voice of reason 😂😂 Did you see the beef that started between Ronnie and Devin Swank from Sanguisugabogg? They are supposed to actually fight in person and Twitter / Facebook / Reddit his having a field day because Devin Swank is a a meathead that looks like he eats Dianabol like M&Ms before he works out and they think he’s going to beat up Ronnie. I doubt this altercation will actually happen but it cracks me up because people think Ronnie is a small guy. He’s like 6’1 and has an athletic build and did 2 years in prison. Ronnie is a big violent man that knows how to fight and Devin Swank looks like he curls in the squat rack. About your hamburgers in movies. While it isn't hamburgers, there is a reason you don't see much product placement for sodas in movies anymore. If you go back to the 90s, people were drinking sodas all the time in movies. The reason why was because the producers would make a deal with the soda companies to provided sodas for the crew in exchange for the product placement. It was a win win. The soda company got placement in a movie and the production didn't have to pay for drinks for their crew. Keep in mind that there could be hundreds of people working on a movie for months on end, each of whom may be consuming a couple of cans of soda a day. Since the perception of soda and sugar have changed in our culture, the soda companies now demand to know exactly how the drink will show up in the movie. They won't let their product be used in any scene with anyone who could be perceived as having a weight problem, etc.
Most people only know who he is because Eminem destroyed him in a diss track, then he had beef with Corey Taylor from slipknot, other then that he's just a name, his music's very average.
The problem with mgk as a whole is that his entire pop punk/emo era has been leaning into tropes and magnifying stereotypes so while yes, darker themes and lyrics can be cathartic, a lot of people don't trust him to fully get that and see this as just exploitation.
I think you don't get enough credit man. There's a way you are able to reinforce themes that are rampant in our society that is punk/metal. I don't want to have the crab mentality, having someone live in your head

Damn right!
And the person who it’s made after can’t play a single note
But don't make up BS about it.😂
Now what does Corey Taylor think about this?
Its 2024, the heater is warm and cozy, got breakfast with coffee, and Finn released a new MGK h8 video. Life is good
sanguisugabogg vs Ronnie is hilarious

Waiting on the Sanguisugabogg vs Ronnie video 😂
Truly the issue from comic books to politics people are incapable of simply ignoring things that dont effect them at all
The part about the sight of a razor blade causing self harm and comparing it to alcoholism is dead on. It would be like someone being upset and claiming that Michael Anthony from Van Halen caused them to become an alcoholic from seeing him play a bass that looked like a Jack Daniels bottle. Ridiculous.
I LOVE how you promote bands for your sponsor. That freaking rules
-
Not everybody should know this, but you must know the situation before you criticize it.
You are so gullible if you actually believe he's talking about shaving.

It feels like there could be a more authentic, less cringe-worthy way to engage with these themes, especially in a genre that values realness and raw expression.
the razorblade necklace was Dimebag, Sid Vicious had a lock
MGK man, he's such a champ ❤🤘
Squirt gun smelly
Champ of what? Clown school?
Now, I think that this guitar looks like shit and it probably plays really uncomfortably, but this whole self-harm thing is just ridiculous. The first time I saw it, I didn’t think it looked like razor blade. I thought it looked like a cereal box.
I think he triggers everyone because he’s a goddamn cringe lord and the only time we ever hear about him, the shit is “cringe.” I think many of us collectively wish he’d just kind of go away already lol. Who knows, that’s probably just how I feel 🙂
Nah, sounds like a typical conversation in any metal bar on earth
That's exactly how regular people though about punks and metal kids back in the day. They always said we were creepy and weird
Theologically, that's an AMAZAZING point, and I LOVED this video!!!!🖤
I agree with every word you said Fin! You nailed it spot on. It’s just a guitar. And Ronnie is the voice of reason 😂😂
Did you see the beef that started between Ronnie and Devin Swank from Sanguisugabogg? They are supposed to actually fight in person and Twitter / Facebook / Reddit his having a field day because Devin Swank is a a meathead that looks like he eats Dianabol like M&Ms before he works out and they think he’s going to beat up Ronnie.
I doubt this altercation will actually happen but it cracks me up because people think Ronnie is a small guy. He’s like 6’1 and has an athletic build and did 2 years in prison. Ronnie is a big violent man that knows how to fight and Devin Swank looks like he curls in the squat rack. It would be the cherry on top if they have a legitimate MMA fight with a ref and Ronnie beat him. The internet would explode
Devin better make sure there aren't any mic stands in the arena.
ronnie is also married to a wrestler
@@5naf6"Ronnie is married to a wrestler" Is she going to fight for him? You do realize that wrestlers are just actors with good athleticism right?
Sometimes, I don't agree with your takes lol, but your commentary on this was great 😂 your ending statement about grass and boobies had me cracking up😂😂
Finn Mckenty: most sane man on the internet
this was a power move for MGK
L Downvote Static Dress W
Ppl just BIG mad cause mgk does everything they can’t 🤣
This guitar is pretty sick and yall making me go listen to that one record and all you got red flannel for hearts. In most wars it’s divide and conquer but in the metal community they do it to themselves.
Nice era vulgaris pfp
The band in the commercial sounds great! Good Hangs!
The real crime here is selling a guitar with a bolt on neck for 1,500 bucks.
FOR REAL.
Thank you! A lot of people needed to hear that!!
I’m really early.. Finn are you uncircumcised?
Only one way to find out…
$1499???!!!!!!!! Maybe $499. One pickup and just a volume knob? I’m guessing that toggle is an on/off switch. Don’t know, didn’t research cuz I didn’t need to. There’s nothing that would be in the description that would justify that price.
MGK can barely play the instrument 🎸
But on the flip side, he is able to generate controversy.
I’ll give him total props 4 that 🤘
How many folks out there can actually make the transition from rap to rock, sell-out arenas & bang a hot chick like Megan Fox, all these haters are actually very envious of this dude. Good Video & glad that U pointed that out.
The price is what's offensive
Ronnie Radke is embarssssing but he's right; crying about a guitar shaped like a razor is the dumest thing ever. "Booohooo it twigggers my twauma:((( "
I need to know what Corey Taylor thinks. 🤩
"stop promoting toxic themes to literal kids"
*Me at age 12 listening to music about disemboweling nuns and ejaculating blood*
First comment and I don't even know who MGK is.
Then you're pretty lucky lmao
MadGayKelly 😂
I first heard of him when that Eminem thing happened, and then I didn’t hear anything else about him til he started dating Megan Fox 😂
Most people only know who he is because Eminem destroyed him in a diss track, then he had beef with Corey Taylor from slipknot, other then that he's just a name, his music's very average.
Then you're in for a treat 🙂
Thankfully Finn is the voice of reason. Nik and Tank succumbed to the views.
