12 years later, I am still listening to this and it's still my favorite Mitch Murder song. Makes me sad and happy all at the same time. Thank you Mitch!!!
It's as if Mitch Murder sat down and said "I'm going to design a perfect song....and the only vocals will be clips from the news". Dude is too damn good at his job...
I'm pretty sure Paul Hardcastle inspired him to use sounds from new clips on this track. His song titled "19" used alot of vocals from news broadcast for the Vietnam war.
He's a master of taking audio samples and pairing incredible tunes with them to create incredible audio experiences. Just check out Heading South and then Ravaged Skies--my absolute favorite masterpieces of his.
Mitch Murder shoots an arrow in your brain, hitting nostalgia zone, making you a little bit sad and happy in the same time, dropping a tear and smiling.
begin born in 1985, watching/listening Mitch Murder tracks gives me a really strange sense of nostalgia... its as if its reminding me of visual/auditory memories I forgot I even had
I agree wholeheartedly. I was born in 98' and I remember the 80's perception still being around up until 2006-2007. Whether it was music, movies, architecture/design in places like malls and arcades, it made you feel like you were time traveling. Though, I'm almost 20 years old now and can only remember a handful of positive childhood memories, things like vapor/synthwave and nostalgic media/art bring my consciousness to a very relaxed and reassured state. The main reason I became interested in things like lucid dreaming and astral projection was due to my interest in time travel and re-discovering cultures. I wanted to go back in time and witness all of these nostalgic memories again from my current perspective. Not from the era, but man, I love the fucking 80's.
Holy shit, I broke down into tears of joy how incredibly bad ass this is. This really brought me back to my teen years listening to Amiga Chiptunes back in the late 80's. What a gem.
I heard "Best of the Best" On the end of a Bill Burr podcast. I thought "Damn thats a cool song" so I found it on Spotify and started listening to MM's other stuff. I thought "Wow this is some cool 80's music!" This music is awesome, and the music videos are even cooler!
I just realized something about this song. Everything talked about in the news clips were failures to some degree. Star Wars never came to be, the robot bartender 'still had some bugs to be worked out,' and the Space Shuttle, while contributing heavily to science and our understanding of space, was a financial failure.
The ADAM system is not comparable to the "Star Wars" SDI programme. One is strategic space based and the other tactical ground based. Let's keep it synth ;)
You provided a link to a ground based weapons system that doesn't relate in any way to a space based programme for one thing. You may as well have linked to a wikipedia page about a trebuchet, doesn't make it relevant to the original comment that SDI never came to be. The ADAM is a cool ground based tactical system, but irrelevant to SDI, a space based, strategic platform. It is a fact, simply because it is. Do a little research. We may not have had Google back in the 80s but even then managed to find out facts and separate them from fiction quite well :)
I saw everyone of those commercials, and President Ronald Regan's (also known as Ronaldus Maximus) speech on TV back in the 80's. Ah the memories. Thanks for sharing.
I like the idiots that are complaining about the "news" part of the track. Oh, the name of the song is just titled ya know... "In The News" HELLLOOOOO!?????!? KNOCK KNOCK!!!! ANYONE HOME?!??!
remind me 80s in NYC when i was child.. thanks for your great work, breathless vid content, great scene's choice commercial sync... ahhaah i can feel 80s GASOLINE!! :D
You used the Lord's Name lightly...........................................................in vain.........a FEW times........Using the Lord's Name in any fashion other than absolute REVERENT invocation with fear and trembling is the Second Commandment and a mortal sin. If you do it knowingly, willfully and freely when you can do otherwise you go to hell unless you get absolved by a Catholic priest........It's worse that raping and murder combined. Now vulgarity i.e. from vulgate or base language like fuck or cunt ISN'T a sin at ALL in fact it's NECESSARY to convey truth and in most cases today is a sin NOT to use it in this sick twisted emasculated satanic and as a result inhuman society we live in where no one's even in touch with the fact that they have blood running through their veins. Show's how not in touch with our humanity we are when we'll censor simply base language (fuck, cunt) but not using God's.........................................................head bow.............................................................holy Name in vain which is a mortal sin meaning if done deliberately and with full knowledge and consent one suffers the loss of the life of grace in the soul and go to hell its worse than rape and murder combined.....IF he or she is baptized validly in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit with running water otherwise they don't have the life of God..........................................head bow............................. ...................in them anyway to begin with and can't gain admittance into heaven unless the are baptized validly......for those who are and do such suffer hell the same even worse as they had grace working in them unless they receive absolution from a Catholic priest if ....again done with full knowledge and deliberate consent. Any way it's done is a mortal sin but it's even weightier when the holy name of Jesus Christ ...................................................................head bow..........................................................is used....................................................................................................................................................and if you don't say anything when someone ELSE does it or post content in which it is used you commit the same mortal sin via OMISSION or tacit/passive approval. As I said God's......................................................................... .............head bow....................................................................existence is proven. They've taken the proofs for the existence of God..............................................................head bow...........................................out of modern DEeducation but the proofs for the existence of God..................................................................................head bow...........................................................................................are a staple in any undergraduate philosophy tract. They're called St Thomas's 5 proofs. You can't get to Catholicism the One true faith via logic alone but the sheer existence of God and that He must, for example, be One, IS proven. Here's one. You see that things have a cause. If you don't assent to this you're simply a liar. IF you don't have a First Cause of all, Himself Uncaused, you have an infinite regress of causes of effects and never getting to the First Cause you never get in reverse logic to what you see today by necessary result of this infinite regress. The infinity (i.e. NEVER ending of causes) creates an insurmountable gap because of it's inherent infinity insurmountable to suffice for the existence of anything you see that exists and has a cause of its existence. There MUST therefore by necessity exist a FIRST Cause that is Himself Uncaused Who is God.................................................................head bow........................................................You're welcome
Yup i was born in 1982. Gdtimez! Makes me think about after school going to this store called "Zares" cuz my mom liked spendind dads money. Lol then when i got home it was time to watch GI Joe n also some Fraggle Rock for nappy poo time lol.
(off topic; why can't I comment directly on older posts?) @Mek Ehki, Yes, it is in fact Ronald Reagan, US president from '81 to '89 who played an important part during the cold war with the Soviet Union. In the video he is relating to an ambitious (albeit never realized) anti nuclear missile defense system known then as the Strategic Defense Initiative, also referred to as the Star Wars defense system due to its futuristic nature, which would have consisted of multiple satellite based high powered laser cannon. These would heat up and thereby destroy inbound Soviet ICBM's. The 80's; fascinating decade to say the least! :D
It's so weird seeing the 80s look so futuristic compared to the present, but this song makes it all the more awesome! FTR, what's the brand of boombox being advertised here at 3:50? I like this part the best!
now this is the reason youtube was invented... if only other people uploaded incredible work like this on youtube instead of bull. But hey it just makes guys like mitch that much more of a standout and original let alone amazing.
12 years later, I am still listening to this and it's still my favorite Mitch Murder song. Makes me sad and happy all at the same time. Thank you Mitch!!!
AGREE!!!!!
Consumer electronics were so quality back in the 70's & 80's. Even the music was built to last.
radical quote!
So true.
It's as if Mitch Murder sat down and said "I'm going to design a perfect song....and the only vocals will be clips from the news".
Dude is too damn good at his job...
"what are you gonna do?"
"my job"

❤
Listening to this since 2012! What a masterpiece!
I like the positive tone in the newscasts. The quotes invoke feelings of a bright future where technology eliminates many ills of the world.
I feel like this song really captures that spirit of industrious 80's optimism.
Uh yea that's the whole point of the song retard
begin born in 1985, watching/listening Mitch Murder tracks gives me a really strange sense of nostalgia... its as if its reminding me of visual/auditory memories I forgot I even had
Is it possible to feel nostalgic for an era you never experienced? :'(
Depends on your definition of nostalgia haha
even though i was born in 1989, i feel an unexplained connection over an era in which i never got to see properly.
it's all to do with the vibes.
Certainly! I was born in 1991, but even in the early 90s there was still plenty of 80s pop culture hanging around. That stuff didn't just disappear.
abdulqudz89 Oh my god I relate with you so much on this.
I agree wholeheartedly. I was born in 98' and I remember the 80's perception still being around up until 2006-2007. Not from the era, but man, I love the fucking 80's.
Honestly, just discovered this track a couple days ago. And I can stop replaying it
I can not stop listening to this damn song. It brings me up and keeps me there. Love it!
For real dude .... it’s insane. Guy deserves some kind of award Grammy or whatever.
Holy shit, I broke down into tears of joy how incredibly bad ass this is. This really brought me back to my teen years listening to Amiga Chiptunes back in the late 80's. What a gem.
This sounds more 80's than any song released in the 80's
Been listening to this "synthwave" or "retro wave" shit for 8 days now. Seems to work. Gzus. Much worship.
Mitch Murder you are my hero. This is my absolutely favourite among all the "syntwaves". Montage and Hideway are also phenomenal tracks! Thanx!
It has been 12 years. 12 years of the best OST to my life. Thank you!

One of mitch murder's best tracks in my opinion. This brilliant video only makes it better...
Man, what a classic.
Mitch in his pure awesomeness.
Synth work is so incredible.
This video is so ridiculously well done.

Me too it's just a great track
already timeless.
I just realized something about this song. Everything talked about in the news clips were failures to some degree. Watching these music videos hits me right in the feels, why did the 80's have to die... I know fads die off, but still...
i would give anything to travel back in time and live in the 80's. seriously.
Reagan: Deter a Soviet missile threat.
Me: Spills beer all over the counter.
I had some bugs to be worked out.

Most of the audio clips seem to be from the old PBS show, "Computer Chronicles."
Fantastic.
There were still some bugs to be worked out.
"I'm sure its only a glitch"
the best track forever
I listen to this stuff when working out. It is so awesome and has a good beat. Makes me pumped up!
12 years later... relevant track.
Goddamnit, from 1:50 forward, pure eargasm
+Khan Agreed, best part. Then again, it IS the song's hook.
