I've had a Tiger1050 for 3 years & put 20K miles on it. We live in Utah and my wife and I use it to tour all over the western USA. I use an airhawk cushion, my wife has a gel pad. She says the Tiger's passenger seat is the most comfortable seat she's ever ridden. We've been riding together since 1974 on everything from a Bonneville to a Goldwing and that's good praise for the seat. I've done Los Angeles to Salt Lake City (700mi) in a day more than once, no problem. The motor is a total joy.
Well done ! Precisely what we need, an everyman's perspective, no some highly technical piece of work. I own a 2007 Triumph 1050 Tiger and out of the dozens of different bikes I've owned over the last 40 years, this is as close to the perfect bike for me as I've found. No moving couch (Goldwing) or sportbike (that leaves my wrists numb) for me...the all around can do nearly everything bike !
I know this vid is getting on a bit however I would like to thank Fallout for making this video as it was certainly a contributing factor for me to at least go out and try one. This led to me buying one in the end. No regrets! what an excellent all rounder!
Totally agree and some good praise there. I've been carrying a pillion a lot recently and it's been a pleasure. With the Givi luggage on she complains a bit about the foot pegs and not enough room, but I'd imagine that's less of an issue with the standard Triumph luggage. But without luggage we have a great time and it remains really nice to ride spiritedly even 2-up. The only other complaint is the rear shock could do with more preload. The lights are too high with a pillion and full preload.
Thanks mate. Yes, I prefer watching these kind of reviews too. The reviews by companies and magazines are all well and good. They help you learn stats and give you more technical info about history/build/components etc. but really you want to know what a bike rides like for your average joe. Glad it's come across well! :)
Hi mate Great review. I bought my 2007 Tiger second hand and was concerned about the seat height(I'm a shortarse 5' 6")but the bike was fitted with Maxton suspension which is lower than standard so happy days! I noticed that at about 4k revs it tended to surge quite a bit so I fitted new chain and sprockets. This didn't make any difference so guess it's probably down to the fuel injection. Anyway you get used to it and it's not really an issue. It's still a fantastic bike and by far the best I've had.( And I've had more than a few)All in all I would endorse your review and recommend anyone thinking of buying to watch it.
Thanks for the vid, it convinced me to trade in my fjr1300AS and start having fun by purchasing a 2006 tiger in scorched yellow, with a tor, got it yesterday and love it, thanks again
I don't know how many times I've watched videos from Europe and I still can't get used to you guys riding on the left side!! Anyways...I have a 06 Sprint ST and buying a used 07 Tiger for commuting purposes from Santa Rosa, CA to San Jose, CA (about 105 miles). I hope the comfort is there. Also, we are allowed to lane split here, so the "thinner" bike should help me cut some traffic.
Well done mate. Good buy! Still loving mine. Been riding with a pillion a lot recently. Would recommend 44 PSI in the rear tyre and preload set to max in the rear shock, and then it's a cracking pillion capable bike.
I'm really interested in one of these tigers for longer trips, I'd love the tiger sport, this is the only vid I've seen where someone actually gives their tiger a real thrashing, good on you, also love the fact you happily admit to breaking the law speeding at 90mph, love it, lol. Not that I agree with that sort of behaviour.
I'm glad I found this video even though the wind noise made it a bit hard to follow. I got the message after watching it twice. I've been thinking of simplifying my current set up of 3 bikes into just 2. I currently have a drz 400 sm with the off road wheels as well so basically 2 bikes in 1 but I ain't thinking of getting rid of that its soo cheap to run it's not worth getting rid of and so much fun to ride but my other 2 bikes are a Yamaha fz1N and a Kawasaki Versys 650. I've had the Yamaha for 2 years now and love the power and handling its great fun on a fast bit of road and comfy-ish. I'm good for around 100 miles a day which is all I can get to a tank full. I can't do a full-on sports bike I just go way to quick everywhere. That's the beauty of the naked it's still fucking quick but try and ride it like a supersport and you get tired fast. So it's easier to relax and take it easy through all the slow stuff and just enjoy the ride. Then the Kawasaki I've only had for 8 months now but I'm loving the long range ability, long fuel range 200 miles easily and how easy it is to ride. It's so comfy and ideal for day to day use without putting a load of commuting miles on the Yamaha devaluing the bike. But I was thinking of chopping in the fz1n and the versys 650 for a bike that's comfy and easy to ride but still quick enough to replace the fz1 at the same time but after watching this I think I won't bother. Seen as the tiger isn't really super fast only being 115bhp at the crank whereas the fz1 is 147bhp at the crank and the little versys is 65bhp but is very torquey and will happy cruise at 70-80mph no problem and like you said the tiger isn't really any good in the really fast sweeping bends. Although I'm sure it's fine if that's all your used to ie a big heavy tall top heavy bike. I guess there ain't really a bike out there that can do all the things I want to do well. The tiger is a great all rounder but I'm not looking for that. Your quote at 18:05- 18:22 summed it up for me. The Versys can do everything the tiger can but a little slower but I can't justify owning 2 liter bikes that would be too far for me just for the extra grunt and overtaking power the tiger has.
I like the review. I got my tiger 2010 model and just find it a great bike. I use it so much I have added a few extras. Change the exhuast to a blue flame. Sound awesome. I do touring, general ride, commuting. Even took it to the isle of man for the Tt with my wife. Brilliant. Its my third bike and any time I look to replace it I can't seem to find a bike that matches it. I lowered my bike with a simple kit of eBay that was a smaller set of triangle linkage for around £30. Worked a treat. Would definatly reccomend this bike to any one which does want an all rounder.
No probs mate. Take one for a test ride and see how you get on. Give it time though, as it took me a good half an hour to 'get it' before I warmed to it.
Great video. Think for the money you can pick these up for , there just cracking. Good to see they also take the mileage with no problems. Think one is in order.😀
Thank You, just saw one for sale today, now I make look further. I wondered on leg room, I'm 6'2" 200lbs, my other bike is Kawasaki KLR650 w 78000 miles. I'd rather have torque to horsepower.
Great review, thanks. Was considering a replacement for my Sport Touring bike, which is great but I'm really too tall for it (6'3" also). It was a great relief that you're the same height & still enjoyed the Tiger, what wind screen is the bike kitted with in this test?
Funny, on my 955 Tiger, the transition throttle was smooth, gentle... .Could it be an adjustment required...maybe the previous owner had put a different tune on it? Or, you might try a Booster Plug, which effectively enrichens the low rev mixture, softening the on/off throttle
i have an airhawk which i used on the trip to scotland, it helped but was still shuffling around alot , im 6ft1 and lanky myself and i think its the very upright riding position which means all the weight goes onto the arsebones, i watched the st1050 vid you did then the tiger one and to me the tiger sounds way more comfy, i previously owned a st955 so i love the engines, gearboxes not so much :)
You can but try it mate! I think zero arse ache is a bit much to ask, but I'm definitely still a human being after 400 miles, rather than a knock kneed arse aching bent backed cripple! :) I think with an air hawk or the optional gel seat, it'll really do the business for comfort. :) Also recently been taking a pillion a lot and found it really capable in that department too.
Check the lamber sensor , it will cure the surge ,or throttle snatch, there is a link [ plug] to blank it off. cheap too, rather then renew the sensor,
Currently ride a Blackbird with Wifey as regular pillion. Looking to go "adventure type". Like the thought of the Tiger as a "liquorice allsort" bike. Only ride for pleasure. Feeling a bit cramped on BB after good run. Have test riden Crosstourer, Versys. Have you test riden 2013/14 TIGER SPORT? IE Upgrade to yours. Are you still happy riding the Tiger?
Not ridden the new Tiger mate. I do still enjoy the Tiger and recently did 2000 miles through France and Spain. It was amazing through the Pyrenees. Perfect roads for it. I was following a Tuono most of the way, and with all his slipper clutches and quick shifters and extra power he couldn't get away. In fact, he struggled on the low speed hairpins having to clutch in in 1st while I could let the RPM drop and stay in second and never touch the clutch. What's more I could walk after a days riding! :) I am thinking about changing it now, but only because I want something different and not because it has let me down. Still rate it highly!
Mate, your opinion is NOT the same as mine, so you're wrong!!! Haha..Good point! That amount of Mileage is what is important. "400-500 miles in a day" Fantastic..But that is the way it should be for this type of bike to be honest. Yea, If I was traveling that far and needed that luggage, well you gotta look at this bike (or similar) for sure! Plenty of grunt though, so no worries! I do get 210 miles on the CBR tank though, riding on the M-Way and I think that is great. Nice :-)
Seems to reverberate through ear plugs though. Can no longer hear the squeaking of mice or the chirps of canaries. Still enjoying my drum'n'bass though. :D
Enjoyed the review. currently own a cbf1000 which is nice and i thought id found the perfect do it all bike........ until i rode it up to Scotland two problems with it. wind buffeting/noise is tiresome and the SEAT. so damn uncomfortable, whatching this and listening to your coment about 400 mile days without arse ache makes me want to get a tiger, this cbf is my 5th bike in two years in the quest to find the perfect bike for me . maaybe a tiger will be the 6th..... :)
Looks like you can carry much stuff on it. looks fast and sporty, good for curves with that body style. What made me look at your video ? , I found one for sale on the internet, and wanted to see it in action. Good to see a review Opinion about it.
+john rocker They may look blind to you on the video, but you need to take into account the field of view and lower picture quality. I had good visibility. While I appreciate it's always possible for someone to come powersliding out of their driveway or a kid to sprint out without looking, typically even though it looks fast, I ride with that in mind and when that kind of thing has happened I've always been able to stop/avoid hazards.
Thank You, just saw one for sale today, now I make look further. I wondered on leg room, I'm 6'2" 200lbs, my other bike is Kawasaki KLR650 w 78000 miles. I'd rather have torque to horsepower.

Daryl, I'm about the same size and the Tiger is a bit cramped. I just put adjustable foot pegs and makes a huge difference. And a couple inches in the seat and you're set.

Well done mate, a proper review from a proper rider, exactly what these glorious machines are all about, riding experience not what is on paper....
I know this vid is getting on a bit however I would like to thank Fallout for making this video as it was certainly a contributing factor for me to at least go out and try one. This led to me buying one in the end. No regrets! what an excellent all rounder!

Nice review. I was considering a Sprint GT but after watching your video of that bike I'm now thinking a Tiger would be better. Cheers!
Thanks for the vid, it convinced me to trade in my fjr1300AS and start having fun by purchasing a 2006 tiger in scorched yellow, with a tor, got it yesterday and love it, thanks again
Great review and really beautiful countryside!
Thanks mate!

Fantastic proper hands on review with some soul! Tnx

Uncle has one n really fancy one. Sold on it now thoroughly enjoyed your video
Great review thanks, seriously looking a getting one now

I've got the 900 carb engine, which is great. But I'd like a 1050 aswell. Good review.
thanks for the effort and the sharing. thumbs up.
No probs mate. Take one for a test ride and see how you get on. Give it time though, as it took me a good half an hour to 'get it' before I warmed to it.
Great video, good information! Do you happen to have any experience on a tiger 800 (xr)? How would you say they compare. I'm doubting between bthe 2
Excellent review, thanks,... was it easy to remove the baffles from the original exhaust? And refit for MOTs?
Great video. Think for the money you can pick these up for , there just cracking. Good to see they also take the mileage with no problems. Think one is in order.😀

Get one Jammy. You know you want to.
Still the best all round review on YT. Good work. Do you still have it? If not, what did you get instead?
Ta.
At least the old men have survived, and not embeded themselves in trees or lorries.
Have you thought about holding the camera steady?
Check the lamber sensor , it will cure the surge ,or throttle snatch,

Hi friend.. Finally you bought the bike?
Sounds great btw :-)
Haha thanks man. I've been away from vlogging and TH-cam for a while. Need to see what other ridiculous things you've been babbling about ... ;)
You mentioned a tart using a phone, but riding past blind driveways at excessive speeds? Just as bad!
