    Im relieved to see that they were kind enough to include a drain plug in the transmission pan. Stress level much lower now.

    👍🏽 thanks so much I couldn't figure out where was the solenoid, on how much transmission it takes

    Thanks for the great video. You mentioned towards the end to check the wiring first before replacing the solenoid pack. I have error codes P0743 and P1744 on my 2002 F250 4x4 automatic. I was wondering if you could provide any guidance on how to "check the wiring"? Research I have done on my error codes leads me to believe I need to check continuity of the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) wire between the transmission and the PCM and check that there is 12 volts being supplied to the solenoid pack.
    To do this, I believe I should pop the connector to the solenoid pack located on the outside of the transmission. I think this connector is identified in the wiring diagrams as connector C168? If I am interpreting the wiring diagram correctly, the wire bundle goes from C168 on the transmission to connector C1010? I am not sure where C1010 is located? Maybe near the brake master cylinder?
    Would I then check continuity between between pin 4 on C168 (TCC solenoid) and pin 6 on C1010. Would I also need to check continuity between C1010 (pin 6) and C175 (pin 54). Looks like C175 is mounted through the firewall and kind of a pain to get to. One video I found shows removing the fender well to access.
    To check voltage, do i put the key in the on position (or should I start the truck) and check that I have 12 volts on C168 pins 1 and 12?
    Thanks in advance for any input you might have.

    What happens if you over torque the solenoid pack?

    Thanks for the video. I'm not throwing codes yet, but do you reckon the solenoid pack could cause surging when shifting into 4th? No other gear does it, and when I let off the throttle, and get back into it, it stops surging. Thanks

      that sounds more like a possible valve body issue then a solenoid block

    Great video that doesnt seem like a terrible job. My new 99 f350 doesnt want to shift from 2nd to 3rd intermittently and it gets a little jerky. It threw the code for this the other day... anything else that could cause these issues? Looks like the fluid was changed recently and it's got a Jasper rebuilt in it already. Hopefully that's all it needs is the solenoid. Truck only has 120k miles on it and its 2nd transmission is already acting up which sucks. Every old Ford I've ever owned has had transmission problems tho so its par.

      Second transmission at 120 k ?

    • @misterbulger
      @misterbulger 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@rolandthethompsongunner64 I guess. Not sure the history but it says Jasper on it. It's a dumptruck/ set up for a plow so its probably been kind of thrashed on. The seat was completely hammered so it's got a lot of hours on it. Well I just changed the solenoid pack and reset the ECU. It still is shifting goofy and the speedometer intermittently wont work until I drive forward, shift back to park, then back to Drive. Then it will at least shift out of limp mode and shift good enough that I can cruise around town, although top speed is limited to about 55 with reasonable RPMs. I initially attributing to having dump truck gearing, but I think it's just slipping a little. Now its throwing a P1715 shift solenoid A code after solenoid replacement instead of 0755 Solenoid B. Shift points are still a bit off/early/lazy and now it seems to be slipping in 4th gear worse after the solenoid swap and ECU reset. The overdrive wire was broken and I replaced that... seemed to improve it some but it's still acting screwy. I'm about to just unplug it and see what it does next. There was a giant mouse nest in the toolbox which is a tad concerning to me.

      @@misterbulger Yeah, if you’ve been using it to plow it’s probably shot bro. Have you tried clearing all the codes ? I had a speed sensor go bad or code bad in my 2001 F-250 at 160k miles. I changed one the rear one it still coded. I removed the front one it had fluid and some metal flakes on it. Cleaned it off reinstalled it cleared the code it’s perfect now. But you probably have bigger problems unfortunately. I’m in the south so no snow or salt down here. Things seem to hold up better. Good luck though. Let us know if you fixed it yourself.

    Harness looks good. Any advice on diag to know if selanoid pack is actually bad?

    First off great videos👍🏻I'm planning to do a complete filter change/flush using Valvoline Maxlife ATF on a 2002 Ford F150 with a 4R70W. I've read Ford forums in which people have ran it with good success instead of Mercon V. Your pro opinion on it would be appricated. BTW I'm also replacing a radiator on my GMC Acadia 2008 and since I'll have easy access to the transmission lines I'm doing a complete flush on that one too using Maxlife ATF. Normally I just drain and fill with Dexron VI, but it seems the data sheet on Valvoline full synthetic Maxlife is on par with Amsoil so giving it a try.

      We have been using Maxlife ATF for several years and and the fluid in our repeat customers cars looks as good when it comes back for a fluid change as it did when we serviced it before

      @@codemansauto208 I've seen videos of people using it on GMC's wasn't too sure about my older Ford with that 4R70W. I live in Southern California cold temps won't be an issue for ATF. Valvoline Maxlife is easier to find in town than Mercon V so I'll give it a try in my Ford. TX for your reply
