🤗The Sphinx moth or Hawk moth is the symbol of the transformation in our lives on various levels. The Native Americans believed the insects and animals that show up on our paths are messengers. 💝

My husband and I first went to England in 1993. Because I had read all of the "All Creatures Great and Small" books, I really wanted to go find where he was from. We were able to track this village down. The name of the town is Thirsk in Yorkshire. We went to the gift shop there and I found a signed copy of his book that I was able to buy. He was retired and not doing too well, but being able to see the dales where he practiced veterinary medicine made me feel close to him. It is a very sweet fond memory! He passed in 1995.❤

Toby got derailed on his train of thought right here. 14:07 I wanted to hear him finish his sentence. It started “Mom, we have turkeys, we have ducks and we have chickens. We could…” (I’m guessing he was going to ask you to make tur-duck-en as a meal one day.)

I can’t even begin to explain to you how incredible your timing with words is. You are truly speaking allowing the lord to speak through you to others through your platforms, Jess. I don’t know where my heart would be without the guidance you provide. When I am overwhelmed, I will put on the next video or podcasts of you speaking and somehow every single time you say exactly what I need to hear. You have no idea how much your words help others. I am so thankful for having the blessing of finding your channel in a season of my life that would be entirely too overwhelming without guidance.

I love your farm 💚 Something that works for our ducklings when they are too small to climb out of the water, is to make a ramp. My husband built a small ramp with weights on the end (so it stays submerged). It's shaped like a V and bends at the middle where it rests on the tub. They can walk up from the outside and the inside. We use it until they are old enough to get in and out on their own, then we just store it for the next batch of babies 😊

    Hi Jess ❤
I so get what you're saying. Growing up abused, I had recurring UTIs and kidney infections. I stayed on antibiotics and they messed up my body so badly. Now, as an adult, loved and cherished by Jesus, I continue to experience healing in many areas. A Celiac Sprue diagnosis in 2001, cut off gluten from my diet. Multiple food allergies have cut off processed foods, well ...most foods. But, I'm so thankful because there are a ton of really unhealthy foods out there that are "gluten free." God can use anything for good. I appreciate this journey in waiting on the Lord for all aspects of wholeness. He is our Good Father, always Faithful. He wakes me up with a song on my heart and carries me through every hour. May He continue to heal you in every way. ❤ Candace in Texas

Lovely vlog, Jess! When you mentioned James Herriot, I could just sing! I turned 51 yesterday and grew up reading his book series. I had wanted to become a veterinarian until one of the many days I worked with our large animal (mobile) vet and he had to put down a pasture-boarded horse who had a compound fracture, which at the height of summer had become horribly infected and infested. The gore and creepy-crawlies did not bother me as much as the pain in the poor animal's eyes and the apathy of the owners. I cried more for that poor horse that day than I care to admit, but that experience turned me away from veterinary medicine. I knew I was too soft-hearted to be able to not be angry at people like that who neglected their animals (didn't check on them very often) and didn't care about them the way I did. At any rate - love how much the books and movies (and tv shows) can bring folks together. 😊

Jess, I lost my 81 year old mom in 2019 and became the caregiver for my 88 year old dad. My mom had taken such good care of him that he had no idea how to use the coffee maker, microwave or stove. There were many “ incidents” where things overflowed or burned. I took him dinner each night and made sure he had things to microwave for breakfast after many instructions on how to use it. I developed a miriad of skin issues. Could no longer can tomatoes without gloves. And even when I wasn’t canning, my hands would often break out in blisters. After I lost him in 2022, I realized that my problem was stress. I did not feel stressed, but I obviously was and didn’t recognize it. After a year, I no longer have any skin issues, canned a bunch of tomatoes this past spring with no issues. I think our bodies are geared to warn us when things are not right. I miss my parents dearly and it took a year for me to feel normal again after I lost my dad. Thankfully that has happened and I am back in my gardens trying to clean up the neglect of the last couple of years. Rejuvenating 😀

Awe, Jess & Miah, my heart is full... So good to see your beautiful horses and getting in on your time working with them...
This warms my heart with many (50-60) years of experience raising & training my own.
Your round pen is awesome! A couple things I noticed briefly, I hope it is fine to mention here.?. I don't want this to sound negative, just a helpful saftey tip, possibly for anyone else it may help too. I was going to put this in a private message, but felt others may appreciate these postive thoughts as well regarding horses & safety. A good working round pen will have solid sides at least from just above your knees down so as horses &/ or you riding, move around at any speed, the sandy ground stays inside the pen, no legs or extremities get caught or hung up on the rails, and noticing the panels are set up with the center vertical support bar is on the inside, the possibility of getting a toe in your stirrup or knee caught or hungup as you work around the pen.. My thoughts from yrs of experience, for safety, would be great to turn panels around to have the smooth horizontal bars to the inside.
Many round pens will even have the paneled solid walls slanted out a bit to help with this situation of keeping any extremities from getting caught as horses move around. These pens are usually found on full time horse training, ranching facilities.
I hope & know this is taken with Love & Grace!
I love Miah's enthusiasm & heart for his love of horses and working cattle with them, I know he will be doing it soon! Nothing better as far as my loves go regarding horses, ranching, & western Farm life. Happy Trails with Blessings Always
I just love hanging out with you & your family learning so much and just seeing and hearing your joy filled days, Blesses mine! ❤🌻🤠🐴

A favorite for some of our Mom Movie Nights has been the Little Women movies. I think there have been three ... We also listen to the audio book in the winter, probably four to six times until spring arrives and we get busy.
The Secret Garden was one of my favorite books and movies. I am getting the book to read to my youngest. I'm glad you mentioned the movie, I'll add that to the Mom Movie Night list.
    Sandlot is always a winner.

Omg!!! Secret Garden from 1987 was my absolute favorite as a kid. I think it was a hallmark special my mom tapped off the live TV. I knew all the words. I just read the book as an adult and throughly enjoyed it. I wonder how many of 80/90 girls had the love of gardening planted in us by the secret garden❤

I grew up watching All Creatures Great and Small with my Dad in rural Tasmania. He was originally from Yorkshire and pointed out any place he recognised. I loved watching this show with him because it made him so nostalgic and he would tell me stories of his childhood. I've read the books, too, and have the audiobooks for my husband to listen to. Totally recommend this series :)

Cool find boys! I saw a hummingbird moth in action this summer in my yard. They're huge and so fast! I was bummed to learn they make tomato horn worms. 💔

The Secret Garden movie is so much one of my faves that I have an audio cd of it that I listen to as I travel for work 😊
I was turning 30 the month that the movie came out...

Grew up riding horses! Love them! But am unable to ride anymore because of my back and shoulders. Sure miss it. Miss that feeling of such freedom galloping across fields! Most are such gentle giants and give back the love you give to them!

Jess its wild how our bodies tell us what we need. My granddaughter Piper has SEVERE food allergies to the point of several admissions one being a month long. During all of this she was diagnosed with EoE due to gluten allergies we didnt know she had. As a result they also discovered she has gastroparesis and is now on a GJ tube for nutrition. We still dont know the prognosis long term as she is only just turned 3 in july. I will continue to pray for you and your journey of maximizing your health! ❤ Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

So happy you are feeling better. I remember turning to my daughter and saying you didn’t feel well. Once it is visible on the outside you are pretty far into it, usually. It changes everything. Once you know you know. I think a lot of people get so used to feeling horrible that they do not even realize they are feeling horrible. I’ve literally pointed it out to people, shared my resources, and watched their journey in getting better. Adding things back to your diet, to me, is one of the biggest wins. It was difficult to accept very healthy food was affecting me so negatively at first. It makes much more sense now and I’m grateful for the lesson learned within my own body and not my daughters

I do 80s/90’s movies with my kids for our movie night. The last one we watched was back to the future. My favorite movie as a kid was legend, and the last unicorn (animated). Movies today are so disappointing. We never watch anything new, and my kids seem to love the old movies. They make look dated to these kids but the storytelling are still fun and so much better than what’s out today.

I loved watching All Creatures Great and Small, which led me to the books, which led to my life long fascination with WWI and WWII era England and Victory Gardens. So I guess James Herriot got me into homesteading! 😁☺
