  • The Fujifilm X100V is my new street photography, travel photography, and wedding photography camera. The idea is that it's going to be useful in every aspect of my photography. The quiet shutter was a big selling point, plus the upgraded lens, weather sealing (sort of), flip up screen, and fairly small size. I'm excited to use this camera everywhere!

    Really enjoyed the video, Liam. I am a Sony user and this was the first time I was even interested in purchasing something totally different. When I first saw it, I absolutely fell in love with it but I spent about 2 months watching reviews and bouncing back and forth. Finally, I decided to the plunge and purchase my first Fuji camera, the x100v. I just got it a few days ago from B&H and I'm looking forward to shooting with it. Glad you're enjoying it so far and I can't wait to see more of what you shoot with it.

      Snap, I had a Sony RX100ii for street photography but wanted more control. I did 2 weeks research - down the YT rabbit hole and was about to buy an A6400 when a TH-camr suggested the X100V....I don't shoot video so....yesterday, I received my X100V and I absolutely love it. Just got to learn how to use it now :) Hope you're enjoying yours.

      I had the x100s a while back and I don't think I was "mature" enough to really get the use out of it. I'd kinda coveted the x100v from when it was first announced and I remember seeing one of your videos on it too. I've been loving it so far and I'm only really able to use it while walking the dog :)

    Anybody else fancy this camera? I kinda coveted it but had no plans to buy it... Then it showed up used!... Couldn't believe it. B&H mentioned light scuffs in their ratings but it looks immaculate to me and it had only shot about 300 photos.

      Mine arrives tomorrow. Christmas in May. Weather sealing on the cheap, off brand amazon 49mm adapter (with bonus lens hood) $12 usd. Decent B+W clear filter $28...could have gone cheaper but wanted the better glass/coating.

    Before I watch this, I'm going to bet that you do not let us know if this camera has manual exposure override in video. Ages ago, when the first 1080P video was looking a little hard, Fuji had a pocket digital, and way back then it had adjustments in 1/3 stops to plus and minus 2 stops in overriding the auto exposure in video. This meant that it still auto adjusted as the subject changed, or asyou moved the camera into various lighting situations, but was now "biased" with the plus or minus stops. Fuji always had their own way of doing things, and that included their Super 8 cameras, which used twin axil cassettes instead of the single axil Kodak produced. The twin axil allowed you to easily rewind in camera for multiple exposures. Very cool.Now I've seen your entire video, and really look the look of you stills. And now know it's not so much a feature review. Hopefully you'll cover this video question of mine.

    • @TheLiamGordon
      @TheLiamGordon  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would have bet correctly. I wouldn’t have known to look for it. Even if this was a “full” review I tend not to be very technical and only talk about my experiences. I will however, now include it since I’ve just been fiddling with the camera and it does have this feature. Either using the exposure compensation dial itself or the exp comp dial to “C” and using the front command dial.

    Really nice camera, I might get one eventually. I had an X100S for a while but ended up trading it for a 23mm f2.0 lens for my XT2. I'd love another one though. It was great in low light. I also found I constantly picked it up when I was sitting at night in front of the TV. There's something about them. Fixed lens is great if you're travelling too, it makes you work a bit harder. If I'm out for a wee walk I've been using my XT10 with the 16mm F2.8 lens, it's nice and light. Had a wee panic with the XT2. I thought the sensor had an issue but after buying a Giottos air blower and that sorted it. It's also useful for a wee photo project, as it look like a rocket. I think the lockdown is making us work a bit harder to stay creative. Keep the videos coming Liam.

      Drew Eden I never got to love the x100s when I had it. I don’t think I was really ready for it at the time. Lockdown is definitely forcing the creativity. Sounds like you’re rising to the challenge though, mate.

The Tele is quite big to add to it and to be pocketable. Depending on how the Covid situation is, if my trip to Havasupai is still on, I will definitely have to take this camera. I was debating between the fuji and ricoh GRIII for a grab and go/street/edc camera,; although both are great I decided to go with the x100v despite the price difference because I feel that the fuji would retain better resale value (if I ever decide to sell it) and I may be plotting to amass some Fuji gear lol. However, it took me a while to reason justifying the purchase because I shoot with a Sony A7III and I can easily lug that thing around with any lens reasonably enough to carry, but I honestly just want some variety ha. Might be bad practice to shoot multiple systems, but I feel it'll offer some fun challenges.

    Sounds like you may have met your match 😉 Hahahaha - I almost decided to sell my Fuji XT2 and all the lenses I have to buy the X100V and only roll with that for a while. But my gut was telling me it wasn't a good idea. I do like the size however but in reality, the XT2 with one of the "Fujicron" is still pretty small compared to the full frame DSLR I used to shoot with. But I love the thought of having a camera with a fixed lens that you can just grab and go and not have to think about what lenses to choose from. Its kinda peaceful in a way.
