- Recently our small family sold our beachside home, looking to offload our mortgage and live a life filled with freedom.
We dreamed of owning our own homestead, nestled in nature, where we can raise our family and grow our own fruit and vegetables.
The motivation behind this lifestyle change, is the want to become more self sufficient, to take the slow road, live within our means and protect and nurture our family values.
After much searching we found the perfect place, Its not going to be easy, but we’re up for the challenge. And on this channel we’ll be sharing our journey, our highs our lows, and all the joy that comes in-between.
It's been a long time in the making, but we’ve finally arrived, welcome to Robinsbrook Homestead.
Finding a woman with these kind of values is even rarer then all the gold nuggets you find, I wish you all the very best.
Made me tear up. Thank you!
@@robinsbrookhomestead Most welcome, I've shed a tear or two in seeing your guys happiness and adventures, please never stop.
So fabulous exactly what we did 43 years ago. Although things have changed now we're older, we've never regretted it. Best thing EVER for children. Best wishes.
Yeah when houses were affordable...
How about schooling and socialisation, sports etc?
Outstanding
Congratulations on escaping from the treadmill of debt and stress.
This is what life was meant to be like.
Isn't it wonderful when too beautiful souls share so much love and passionate for each other wishing you guys some much happiness
Having followed you for many years and seeing you both reach this point, brings a lot of joy and really added a heap of emotional feeling to watching video.
I speak from experience, that you buy a house, you move into a house, then you make changes and put your own feelings into the house - finally it becomes a home. And you can always feel the difference between a house and a home.
Congrats to you both, excited to see what you bring to this amazing home.
Absolutely laughed till I cried when you lost power, as it was our intro intro to our little place. iI is now a constant where we live, a n isolated village in the NE on the shores of Bass Strait. You learn very quickly to have a little gas cooker, bbq , plenty of battery operated torches and lights, a good srore of candles, a good toasting fork and jafflemaker , big bucket of water for the bathroom and when the weather starts to get dicey we just fill, billys, buckets etc as a matter of course. Also hot water bottles come in handy. Just like camping.. Nothing better than laying in front of the fire, no power, no phones, no internet. Xx A truly beautiful hideaway and is going to be a wonderful life for your family.
Yes, it's incredible...
Reminds me of the years I grew up in the outback... Channel Country...
When 'the wet' came...
8 weeks of going nowhere and we never had mains electricty nor phone...
Yes, we used an old copper boiler and pioneer village style washing apparatus...
We had carbide lights, till we got a 32v generator...
with battery storage...
Wood stove with hot water on side... and for baths, we had 2x 44 gal drums welded together, and we lit a fire under them...
Water was 2 x 30' dams side by side that supplied the homestead and surrounding stock paddocks!
I am so looking forward to the different climate, nature and the different way to survive different conditions!
But yes, they'll be many more challenges to come as you carve out your space as you reconnect with nature!
Cheers
Loved this video. Been down kinda lately and have lost track of my goals in life. This video reminded me of hope for a better future and for growth. Yall are so fortunate to have this life. All of your hard work and perseverance has paid off. Thank you for filming this
God is great. 💜🙏
AMEN!
100% awesome !!
The power of a strong relationship. 🙌🏻
I am so green with envy right now. You are going to live your best lives at Robins Brook Homestead. ❤
Well, that brought back memories! 1984 and a pair of Londoners moved to the Huon Valley after a few years in Sydney. We lived in a pole-framed celery-top house around which the previous owner-builders had planted a heap of tooth-brush grevilleas which the honeyeaters loved. Yes, no water when the power was lost, no lights either but you plan for that. Kettle on the wood heater, candles handy, camping gear for cooking. Some of the best years of our lives were spent there and the same will happen to you. Just needs a sense of humour and some really good gumboots. Very best wishes to you all.
Oh goodness....I don't even know you guys, but I'm tearing up from joy for you both ❤
Thank you Cath!
Me and my son watched it he is 8-years-old he loved it too
We have a generator hard wired into our house. It can run the fridge, freezer, water pumps and a power socket so we can recharge our phones. This means that no matter what happens and as long as we have fuel we can stay in our home. Best investment ever as the power is often out in remote parts of Tassie. Best wishes to your family and congrats on your fab new property.
Omg that place is beautiful, guys! Congratulations 🙌 You three deserve it
Oh so exciting guys! I’ve loved every minute of your new adventure! Thanks for taking us along with you on your new and incredible journey and I’m looking forward to each and every new instalment 🎉🎉🎉❤
Well done you two
Nothing better than being free
I’m so jealous! It would be so peaceful
A generator, housed outside in its own space to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, would be a great addition to an already amazing homestead for the short term fixing of the situation after the storms of winter roll through. I love your place! 😀
Heartwarming new adventure, Rob, Erin and Scout, rocking the Robinbrook! With the name-change to the channel, we wandered in unexpectedly, into sweet nostalgic memories of the seventies when we were a kid, parents home-making a forties soldier's house, bottles stacked high along the fence, but deposit returns ended, so did their bottle savings fence account. Alterations and repairs, the constant blackouts, trouble with the dirty water from the mains, and that was in the mid seventies, suburban Melbourne, Springvale, home of the band, TISM, who played Launceston in February.
Your new home, charming building, beautiful setting, the birdlife is amazing, fearless Eastern Riflebird with the orange chest have a nice, loud continuous call. Look after the small shrubbery as shelter for them all, the kookaburra keeping down the numbers of lizards and probably snakes, another hazard to look out for.
You're tops for sharing this, Rob. It's in remembering since your working the shop and earlier wedding videography career, mixing it with some prospecting fun, been since a long road, and a winning leap forward with this adventure, it's beauties and challenges, good luck and much happy goodwill saving, banking and accumulating interest, you could bottle it, spirit of life, eau de vie, it'd be nonetheless no deposit, no return! Howzat for a full circle motif, so cheers, The Robinbrook Three! 🌦️🏡🐦👨👨👦❤
Your video brought me here thanks for the invite ✌✌✌✌
You have a way about you both that I find extremely calming - always leaving me wanting to slow down, breathe, and listen to the birds.
Thanks you for your sweet comment Rhys!
You are so lucky. Living the dream.
Brilliant. I guess you’ve bought a generator by now. Thanks for sharing! 👍🏻🙏🦘

I have lived off grid for 8 years , I'll never go back you will find this
Surprised to hear the high price of homes in Tasmania these days. I remember being in Queenstown 20 years ago and seeing small houses priced around $5000 (of course they were old and needed updating). Great job getting out from under debt. You are now free to live a wonderful family dream. Wishing you continued success.
Ripper!
Happy Father's day Rob! Congratulations on moving forward and making your family free and happy!
very nice rob and erin
Congratulations Rob & Erin, so beautiful. I hope the power didn't take too long to come back on. Thank you for showing us your journey to the bush
The best thing I have ever done was buy property, we own 23 acres of canyon forest on a gold producing year around river. It’s something so amazing and it’s a full time job maintaining and upgrading all of it. Your new pad is stunningly beautiful and I wish you the absolute best in all of your efforts!
Looks like the start of a great big adventure!
What wonderful news and congratulations to you both after all your hard work and realising your dreams , the bonus for us is you now give us two great channels to watch, take care of one another , Brian and Susan
Absolutely gorgeous homestead! Amazing wildlife and a beautiful family to enjoy it all 😎
That was cool.
Well done, Rob, Erin & Scout. Now you have a small holding you will always be busy....😊
I also did similar, although I built the house in the bush. Congratulations on your move to freedom. I have long since left that house and must say I miss it terribly, my 2 younger children aged 32 and 34 still talk about their fond memories of their life on the farm.
Wow. Fantastic property! This is going to be great to experience and watch your progress. Best wishes for a phenomenal success. 😊
Very enjoyable and heart-warming to see you fulfilling your dreams.
Fantastic move Rob, you will never regret this decision.
Wise move! Good luck with your new home and new channel! 🎉🥳

Seems like you are living in the garden of eden. All the different species of birds An animals I think that is so 😎
good to see silverbeet being fed to the chickens its all its good for mate! well done on the dream.
Im just horrified you gave the silverbeet to the CHOOKS 😮
I LOVE homegrown silverbeet!❤
But also, what a great move.
Congrats 🙏
Congratulations you guys. You're awesome amd deserve it.. Cheers!!
You should really set up a hydro electric system on your little creek there and go totally off grid so you never have to rely on the governmental power system.😊
If you want the glass on the combustion heater to come up clean dampen some newspaper or paper towel then dab it in the ash and wipe the glass with it. You will be surprised how well it works.
hey Rob you guys are doing amazing. Our solution to the water issue when our power was out was that we installed a 500 litre tank on a small timber tower which was high enough to provide good gravity feed to the house this was managed with a float valve from a cattle trough installed inside the tank at the top. This was kept topped up from our pump when we had power and with an isolation valve, we could have gravity feed water when the power went out. I later connected a fire outlet to it as a backup and connected to a fire pump (never used).
Your first home came out stunningly beautiful, and I’m thrilled for you and your beautiful little family.
You’ve arrived at my daughter’s dream life too. Awesome!
Congratulations on making the move. A wonderful decision, young enough to enjoy it. A general tidy up in spring, and it's amazing place to live. ❤
So happy for you and your family, congratulations to all three of you. Happy to be here.
Congratulations! My husband and I look forward to following your progress. Love the birds!
Excited to share your adventures at Robinsbrook❤
Beautiful, absolutely...Beautiful..everything is just what you need. The House you've made your own. And now it's yours because of the work you've put into it. Well done Erin, Rob, and your son Scout.....Can't wait for the next episode of yours...Pete from Devonport.
cheers and best wishes from Burnie
Hello from France, congrats !!!
Hi Rob just check the regulations on heat shield behind hot plate. You may need one because the timber you have exposed can catch fire. Love your new property.
We scraped the crusty paint off and then put it back! Thank you!
A fantastic watch. Great videography guys. Thank you.
Best wishes from a fan in Canada. You are making me jealous. I am looking forward to more awesome videos.
Congratulations on the new home and being mortgage free
Congratulations well deserved ❤
Love following your beautiful family Rob.😊
those birds poop all over your roof and then the rain washes it into your holding tanks - not safe - drill a well
Bingo! Always be cognitive of your surroundings, hidden or otherwise.
What an action couple (family)! Renovations are extremely difficult/stressful. Well done!
Now to watch the seasons roll by!
many thanks for sharing your journey !
There bound to be a way to have a backup for a power outage, or even better if resources allow( , water, wind&solar) to even go off grid!
looking forward to toggle along!
Living your dream.
So excited to watch over your shoulder on this journey you are on!
Well done and congratulations on your new homestead . Looking forward to watching your new journey to become self sufficient . Welcome to the great life x
Wow!! well done guys, thanks for sharing your adventure. Looks like you need a back up plan for power, bet you're working on that. Looking forward to your next post.
Wishing you a happy, healthy and wonderful new life in “your” beautiful new home. Those first few hours of arriving at your dream were euphoric! Home really is where the heart is…
