The pre pre season is always exiting with your videos. Maybe also do some aero analysis on retro/legendary F1 cars? Like the Ferrari F2004 or the one and only Virgin cfd only car. Edit: I was wrong, it was a Virgin not HRT.
I have little faith in initial front wings at launch. Most teams switch them at the first race. But, I do enjoy your analysis. I love to learn new things and you are a good teacher. Thanks for sharing.
Great video, super quick reaction to the release… don’t forget to sleep! After watching over a few seasons I feel like I am starting to grasp the concepts behind the designs without you having to explain everything. Looking forward to the rest!
Love your videos. I particularly appreciate the combination of detail while admitting that without CFD and a wind tunnel there's a certain amount of educated guesswork in your analysis. Yours have been more enlightening than any other F1 aero analysis I've seen.
Year two of the new regulations and I'm happy to see all the cars still look really pretty! Totally unrelated to this video but I think if the FIA wanted to limit outwash on the front wings they should have gone to a narrower spec front wing like the f1 cars from the 2000's.
If I remember correctly, the discussion from last year was that this size of wing was needed to try to balance downforce between the front and back, as the design was inherently more rear biased than the previous gen.
Can you explain difference between Downwash and Upwash? Its sometimes hard to grasp when you are painting votexes and arrows, since some of them are showing under the floor and some of them are showing flows over the floor, and all of them are on the same plain of drawing.
i'm not an engineer just some casual f1 fan. But I think downwash = air pushed to down/bottom side of the car presumably for the floor element, Upwash=air pushed to the up/top of the car/top of the body
Both cars had front wing contact and suffered little or no damage. So thickening that leading edge seems to have paid off while other cars had the tiniest contact and the wings broke or suffered damage. To me it makes so much more sense to lose a few hundredths of a second than have 4-5 races comprised by flimsy wings.
I think you should do an introduction to your drawings... the basics at least... sometimes I spend long time and rewatch some of the bits just trying to figure out the meaning of the drawings! 🤣
Hi, I very like your vidoes! I have one point, that could maybe help to improve the videos. As the Backround is mostly white I loose sometimes track of your mouse, when you are switching between the pictures to draw something. Maybe try to play around with different colours of the mousepointer or there is a better idea than mine. Sorry for my bad english. I wish you all the best and thank you for the interesting aero videos of the f1 cars 😇
Looking from top down, I see that the nose slightly bulges out before coming back in. What is the purpose of this over simply making the nose lines straight?
th-cam.com/users/shortspyUXVXNZLHo The little side channel in this short video is basically the mouse hole on the side of the diffuser. The edge wing makes a vortex that shoots air into the mouse hole inducing vorticity in the diffuser in the form of a lateral jet of air.
So, are my eyes tricking me or is there a hole in the leading edge of the floor? Go to 6:25 and just below and to the right of the maroon colour Kyle has added… is that not the shadow of a hole in the carbon fibre?
Its interesting to see Aston and Mclaren take heavy inspiration from the RB18. Its expected but i like really like seeing others take the heavy inspiration but still making it a bit of their own
Please just a small ask I really love the page but the white background with the tiny cursor and you're jumping from picture to picture with a complicated task of explaining to idiots like me what's going on period maybe a bigger cursor a red cursor something.

No rush please friend. I love you quality work and analysis. Your work is 100/100 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Wait the Mclaren was their actual car? I thought they were just using last year's car
Seconding the other reply, no rush! Love the analysis in this one, you got yourself a new sub!
@@DanishAZ-mp7tm The livery is very similar but the actual car has quite a few differences. I've seen some people say it has a lot of RB18 features
Thank you for your accessible and clear explanations, much appreciated.
Love the comparissons to last year's car. Gives great context for people who don't see in CFD flow structures ;P
Your explanation makes me believe that this can battle at the top of the midfield. I hope it does too.
top of the midfield? 🌚
I really hope this car can score podiums, and I think it will.
Yea same.
Of course it did, on debut. Alonso delivered
It already did 😯

The best F1 aero analysis on TH-cam by a long shot 👌🏾

i can't wait for your video of the alpine when it's released :D
Your works are amazing. Listening to a real engineer is so good.
Take your time BUT I WANNA SEE THE FERRARIIIIIIIIIII❤❤
Am I the only one revisiting the video after today lol
Not only you .... all other teams except redbull also revisited this 😂
“Squirt management” is my new favourite aero term
I like what I see in the Aston design. Hopefully it's onwards and upwards
Interesting to see that metal stay close to the diffuser area at 19:25 - or am I just seeing things?
“You need CFD to properly analyze the flow over the car” or Adrain Newey’s naked eye
This is a neat looking car
Thank you for your F1 educational series(es)!
Can’t wait for the Ferrari update video. Could just be small changes but there seems to be enough to make a good video.
This is going to be a car that really surprises a lot of folks. Now wether that’s poison negative surprise is yet to be seen.
i highly doubt is gnna give any kind of surprise, it will be 4° or 5° team which is where they were before past year disaster
Thank you for these videos
Sausage dynamics are no joke!
For Alonso's sake I hope this is at least a consistent podium contender
You missed the thick, Mercedes style rear wing main plane. Particularly where it transitions to the end plate.
So basically after Kyle quit, Merc stopped winning. What a coincidence for his CV... !

It happens in the case, where you have more than one picture at a time on a smaller screen.
Good work and appreciate the caveat at the start.
Aston look like a mix of Redbull, Ferrari, Alpine and merc front wing. What do you think Kyle ?
Do they just take best bit from top 4
Looking from top down, I see that the nose slightly bulges out before coming back in. What is the purpose of this over simply making the nose lines straight?
When did AMR run that old school Aston Martin logo from last year’s lower downforce front wing?
Paul Ricard

It's a crying shame that many modern F1 liveries hide their aero design by painting or leaving most of it black.
Front wing seems very reminiscent of last year's Mercedes. Is it me or the rear wing endplate is very curved?
So, are my eyes tricking me or is there a hole in the leading edge of the floor? Go to 6:25 and just below and to the right of the maroon colour Kyle has added… is that not the shadow of a hole in the carbon fibre?
