Hey bro! Nice video👍🏼But I had a question. There's a law stating that "Cars more than 3 years old can't be imported" So... What's that for? Plz gimme a solution 🙏🏻
Pay 180% import duty and still hit a pothole. Buy a bike worth a lakh and pay 18000 road tax, Still you hit a pothole. The question that arises is " Is the road tax really used to build roads" ?
Literally all Indian JDM lovers ask this question. Personally I'll suggest to live in japan and buying cars over there. It will be easy as well as cheap. If you really want to Import her to India, you have to be rich as F. Because lack of availability of parts. Even these parts are expensive and takes months and months to arrive. . Inshort, it's a headache to maintain these cars even if you are rich.
But also in Japan if your car is more than 13 years old then u have to pay 10 percent extra tax on these cars. Taxes include parking tax, automobile tax n weight tax. And u have to pass an inspection after every 3 years.
I feel sad for you guys cant importing JDM cars to india because of the tax. I hope you guys will be able to go to japan to experience car culture there :)
In india we have very finest world class roads with zero traffic.. Which cost more maintenance cost for gov. on the roads than any other country.. so I think it’s worth to give 180%
I have one doubt regarding this, while reading the documentation on our govt. Site, they have mentioned some clauses 1. you can't import any car which is discontinued in the exporting country and the car should not be 3~4 yrs old, so basically we can import only the latest production cars . 2. If you have a residence certificate like a green card, and if you are planning to permanently move to india letting go of the citizenship of other country, in that case only you can bring 1 car with you back to india, but the car should be with you for atleast 1 year in the exporting country and you can't sell the car for atleast 18 months in india when you bring it here. That's why you see only handful of old jdm cars here in india , as they can't be imported even if you have all the money to spend. Whatever we have in india were imported way back in the days when they were still in production. Only other way to import those is via carnet for 8-9 months, but that too for display show purposes where you can't drive the car for more than 200km
Yes we really need parts. mainly engines, and tranny... not a lot of oem performance cars/parts are here in India. mainly because of our "kithna dethi hey" mentality in peeps. :P
@kloo klee Well in about 20-25 years from now electric cars will rule the majority market. simply because easy to use and low maintenance cost. There will be some hybrid cars still produced. Just because you hate the sound of an electric car wont change the fact that the fuel cars produce enough pollution that if we do nothing our future generation will probably suffer due to complications caused of excess pollution. PS: I too hate electric cars but it is what it is.
What if I buy the 1cr car in second hand condition and show on paper that I paid only 10lacs for it... and give the remaining 90lacs to the owner showing it is for something else... then I will have to pay 28lacs only... instead of 2.8crs.
If not supra, then altrezza, sr2 . If not r34, then 350z, Silva. If not rx7, then miata. If not evo, then a celica. There are much more cars to explore in JDM. There are many alternatives of expensive cars.
What if i bought a car worth 20 lakhs and made the billing as 10 lakh and pay the tax of 18 lakh will that be possible ? And there’s other way we can buy abandoned jdm cars for low cost in auction and can restore them because the car has to be clean while importing to India as per law,by which we can pay low tax as it has been bought for low cost and here cost of restoration will not be considered in the tax

Ok i have a question the 180% import tax is on which price the original car price when it was launched? or say iam buying a second hand car so the price I'm buying it for?
Ok so the shipping and all stuff is 180% extra, what if..... we go to Japan and buy the car there and do a road trip to India?? Then in this case no need to pay the import tax right?
So, if i ever wanted to get one and I'm importing a pre owned car, on what amount should the tax be paid? The car's original price when launched or the price i paid to purchase? For example, the car's is worth 10,000 USD and I purchased a pre owned for 5,000 USD, on what amount should the tax be paid?
