My neutral switch was making the 4 Lo light flash it was also causing the shifting to be somewhat stiff. I sprayed the nut on the outside of the transmission with WD-40. I loosened the nut maybe 3/4 of a turn. Tighten it back down. And to my surprise it fixed my issue. Not kidding. 16 months later and I have had no issues.
I have questions so my Mazda 5 2009 so i started my car and I put into drive so I thought I was driving off but all did is rev when I only step on the gas any Idea???

A dirty transmission filter will and what i just told that other person. Is in the past when you do put it in d or r your taking off before the transmission kicks in gear so its to late now there's damage and next time when both of you do put it in d or r wait their and let the vehicle switch into gear before you take off i tell my dad what i told yall And his truck needs a new front differential now

My 99 superduty is stuck in Park. It starts up, brake lights work, but its jammed in park and i don't want to horse it and snap something. Honestly the transmission needs a rebuild so is it just dead now? Is there like an interlock somewhere that keeps me from shifting? Ii really dont want to thow $80 at a sensor if the transmission is just grenaded. Help!
@markroody the whole darn fuse panel and GEM turned out to be full of corrosion. windshield was leaking down the A pillar so I replaced them and promptly sold the truck. I think the PCM and every module in that truck was cooked and it probably burned up the transmission too due to improper voltages/PCM communication. Overdrive was spotty. I also found out the alternator was putting out 20 volts thru all that corrosion. What a basket case. Dome light was melted, high beam went bad, speakers are shot, pretty sure the dash cluster needs replaced. Sometimes the odometer won't work and it goes into limp mode until I jimmy the shift lever and then it would shift fine for awhile.

The car can start in all Positions P,R,D,N .and when it starts it doesnt show which gear the car on the dashboard. instead I get transmision sign with the exclamation mark in Orange and this is when I can drive the car almost normally and the car can go reverse and from second up and up but with no first gear and parking sensors are not beeping nor reverse lights working .but if I dont see the transmision fault sign, the car go only in first gear up 20km ph and doest change to second gear and up and no reverse . I changed the transmission range sensor and bought a new battery and tested alternator with a specialist and said its fine which leaves me frustrated . The car is BMW e46 325i / 2001
My 1998 dodge durango did a no crank no start 2 days ago. I shifted it down to 1st and back up to park still no crank no start when I put it into neutral after that it started right up. I'm thinking neutral safety switch it's starting to fail I'm not sure though
But when the girls select I can drive to anywhere but when I parked the car for like 2 hours and I wants to go again I will need to wait for sometime what can cause the issue
Yea my car works fine and everything it’s just after 8-10k miles after driving it since I got it I got a check engine light on my dash and won’t go away and just got it scanned for at AutoZone and it said a neutral safety switch is it worth the 100$ just installing a new safety switch even though everything is fine or get it installed because the check engine light is on it’s definitely not my gas cap I always tighten it up

Think this is my problem that i bypassed to start i ran 2 wires back up in my dash and added a switch there connected to my starter relay in my fuse box..So as long as i turn key over and flip switch at the same time i can start my truck and immediately switch it off so starter disengages..Also have a code for bad transmission range sensor..So must be this
Would a 77 Chevy Nova th200 transmission have a safety switch? Okay so for some reason my reverse goes forward and also when a neutral. If I turn off the car in neutral it will roll. But when it's engaged in neutral it will stay as if it was in park or start to drive forward.

Hello. Check main relay. It's right underneath the steering wheel area. Bad main relay = fuel pump won't work.

Check your fuses, my 96 did the same thing to find out it was only a fuse.

Seems to be some debate whether the neutral safety switch or the output/input speed sensor is considered the "transmission range sensor"

No it doesn't sound like it is sounds like you need to adjust the cable or on the shifter column

That sounds like an air problem. Maybe map sensor or dirty filter.

lot of mechanics talk obout ''limp mode'', but they do not talk how to come out of ''limp mode'' now your turn, what you say about
Fix the problem then the vehicle will be out of limp mode.

Check for stretched cable
Dont start your car in drive or reverse. Only try in neutral or park.
