  • Sunita Dwiwedi got menopause when she was only 32. Between 1-5% Indian women experience menopause before the age of 40 and yet, hardly anyone talks of premature menopause.

I just turned 39 but had been having symptoms for a few years that have been getting worse. I started missing periods when I was 36 and haven't had any at all this year. My doctor last year attributed it to stress since I am going through a very stressful time in my life (had to pretty much start my entire life over at age 37) but I had gone through stressful times before and hadn't missed periods. Finally I went to a different doctor who ran a bunch of tests and they told me I already reached menopause. I'm healthy, in good shape and all my other labs were normal, and I started my periods at age 13. The symptoms are terrible and I have no one to talk to about it because nobody my age that I know is going through this!

To everyone watching this / experience menopause earlier than when it is supposed to happend , forst of all more strength and power to you ✨ I experienced premature ovarian failure/ menopause at the age of 20. I had no idea that it was this coz as a teenager I was celebrating not having periods until I received this diagnosis and its implications. The doctors ( endocrinologists /gyenacologists ) were not even curious to know the underlying cause of my condition and were simply busy in inducing periods by putting me on HRT ( some even said medically this is not a problem personally it is , the first doctor who told me that I wont be able to reproduce also delivered the news to me in 5 mins in an insensitive manner. Later one doctor ( gynaecologist ) got curious ordered a bunch of tests ( which included kidney , liver functioning tests , karyotyping, full blood profiles and tests for auto immune conditions ) - all of these tests are very IMPORTANT in case you are experiencing this. In one of the tests I unfortunately got diagnosed with a complete kidney failure. Luckily I was atleast diagnosed otherwise I was on the verge of dying. Then I got my transplant done 7 months back. It was and is still an emotional rollercoaster sometimes. Mostly happy and doing great now. But the nephrologist and the gynaec thought that there might be connection between these two problems , hence are expecting my periods to be natural again, so far there hasn't been any improvement. However my hopes are up, if not also I have been managing it since 7 years now so Ill continue to manage. I urge whoever is experiencing this to educate yourself about it and ask your doctor for more information and tests to find out why this is happening to you and do a full body check up once a year to have a check on overall body functioning. Menstrual Health is important beyond pregnancy. Us Indians do not have a habit of going through medical checkups, I SERIOUSLY URGE YOU TO GET FULL BODY CHECKUP ONCE A YEAR.

I'm so sorry for those who have had a harder time with this but I'm just wondering around some early symptoms I have....
My work environment is stressful. I care for teens who could by my own children, (like the perfect age to be my children.) Can that cause premature menopause? Hair is falling out more than normal, turning grey, irregular periods, inability to regulate my body temp like all the time now, (I'm hot or cold but never just okay,) and I have zero sex drive. This has changed ever since COVID and my best friend (dog) died in 2020... and I was unable to work from home during that time. I care for youth ages 16-21yrs old. The exact age my own children would be had I had kids around age 20-25.
I've never had weight gain but have weight loss which is not uncommon for me during stressful times. Been to psychiatrist; he basically said to take an antidepressant or screw off. Antidepressants cause mania in me. My regular doctor said they could only do a blood test to see if my iron levels are correct for the hair loss. My mother didn't have menopause until 55... she didn't even turn grey till 52. My father however was grey at age 40 and so was my father's sister.
I've never wanted kids. Ever. But, I work with teens and was just wondering if their hormones can set off premature menopause in a nearly 40 yr old woman. And I've never had COVID or any other disease except HPV and it's treated by PAP every year. My gyno is male and he knows nothing.

I started getting hotflashes at 28, not I'm 35 and I went a year without a period, and now I bleed 3 weeks out of the month sometimes. My doctors are slow, but I am seeing one, they have yet to say I am menopausal, or check my estrogen levels, but I've had the feeling I was going through it when I couldn't get pregnant no matter how much we tried. I hope my doctors get their shit together I'd like to get on estrogen and not be as tired all the time.

@Kartik Puri I am a fake Sikh from Punjab India. Fake because I am living as slave of Hindu rashtar extremists and terrorists in India while Guru Nanak Sahib blessed Sikhs to live as the Khalsa (Free). I sincerely believe that a statue of anyone, or any real religious person, shall never discriminate against women whether she is menstruating or not, married or widow, childless or mother because a woman, like man, is complete person in herself since birth till death. Don't insult hinduism by having statues like in sabrimala where brahmins mock beautiful women who are your mother, daughter, girlfriend and colleague etc. Pandas are stupid, you don't become stubborn.

Mohan Gandhi called gita his mother but used Buddhist ahimsa in his politics because Gandhi knew in his heart that gita was a war time speech which instigates violence against own family friends and guru. Guru Nanak Sahib wasn't tallest spiritual person who brought Islam and hinduism together. Because Sikhism is a divine religion with its prophet and His message, unlike snatan mythologies and superstitions. Sikhism is unique in its message that's universal and unique without any similarities. Sikhism spoke for women in an era when women were treated as second class people. Sikhism gave 'right to wear arms' century before the founding fathers of USA thought so. Sikhism is the religion of the future. Guru Gobind Singh Sahib fought 14 wars but always in defense, most against Hindu kings and brahmins pandas. Sarkar E Khalsa of Maharaja Ranjit Singh fought 49 wars, kept the mighty British empire in Delhi Calcutta ruling over Hindus, Sikhs never took POWs or butchered the losing military. Sikhs defeated Duke of wellington in the battle of Aliwal. Sikhs defeated hindu rashtar extremists and terrorists outfits rss and snatan Sanstha members in June 1984 genocidal attack on Sikhs by killing both Durga (Indira) and Hanuman (gen Vaidya). Sikhism has no resemblance to violent hinduism and shall inspire everyone who love equality, fraternity and justice for all humanity.
