I love the honesty of this man. Very rare in not only Hollywood, but in the world!

Peter is a close friend. What you see here is the real deal. He is honest, direct, and a caring person who I value as a pal. His devotion to his parents is unending and profound. I got to talk to Glenn in his home, but my focus has always been on Peter and his gorgeous wife Lynda. Barry Nulph, Phoenix, AZ

He was fortunate to have a good friend.
It's a shame his father wasn't the father that he should have been.
I just want everyone to be happy.
There is way too much dysfunction in the world!

And I had no idea that Glenn Ford was such a “ladies man”!

Ford was one of the better actors ever to hit the silver screen! I never saw him turn in a bad performance. Could do just about anything asked of him far as acting is concerned. On the screen, there were times he was a very funny man and times he was a very serious man. I loved the westerns and he made some truly memorable ones. My all-time favorite Ford flick? "Gilda"!!! That movie also let Rita Hayworth prove once and for all that she was a world class actress. They don't make 'em like that anymore. May all the great ones RIP............

Well~It sounds like a complicated life for them both. Peter Ford has risen above the troubles of the past and he has my respect for his Honour. He seems to grasp that fathers and sons have a Duty to each other~irregardless of who did what when. On another note, I just love to see Glenn Ford sit a horse. The man could communicate with horses, and that tells me a LOT about the inner man. My hat is off to Peter Ford.

Unlike Glenn Ford, Peter Ford had great success when it came to marriage. He's been married since 1970.

Great interview! About society, family, interpersonal relationships, the movie industry, and celebrity. The offspring are the real stars. Celebrity children are cursed from birth. I'm looking forward to his book on the great Eleanor Powell - the first and the best Mrs. Ford.

So enjoyed hearing Peter tell about his book. I heard Peter Ford on Sirus Radio with George Klein on the Elvis Channel. I have not ordered the book yet but plan to. Glenn Ford was one of my mothers favorite actors and I also loved him. Thanks so much for sharing this and being truthful. We are always interested in our favorite stars. I loved the story Peter told on the radio about meeting Elvis. Sounded like his father and Elvis were both very kind people. Uplifting to hear there is no bitterness being projected about a bad relationship with his father. Peter's mother must have done a great job with enlightening him on the realities of life and that things are not always the way we want them to be but are what we are given. Delightful, I could listen to Peter all day. Thanks so much.

    Dear Connie Martinson,
I received a recent email from Peter which reads as follows:-
"No Barrie, I am not although I would like to one day. I have all the information of what would be a terrific story but ... time is marching on and the older I get the less I can get done- Peter."
I had asked him if he was currently writing the book about his mum that was alluded to in your interview.
A gentle reminder from you might encourage him to put 'pen to paper'?
There are many, many fans out here who would love to share memories of her life "warts and all". She was such a lovely lady.
    Regards from the UK.

Peter seems like such a genuine nice guy. I'm so glad that he and his wife found each other and are happily married. He deserves it. He should write a book about his mother now. I strongly advise you to watch the documentary film narrated by Peter called Peter Ford: The Little Prince. Directed by Alexander Roman. It's a glorious trip back to the 1940s when Glenn and Eleanor first met then married then had little Pete. Then Pete grows up, then Glenn and Eleanor divorce...and we move through the following decades with home movies, interviews, publicity photos, etc. You can find it on TH-cam. It's excellent.

BabeonToast you are quite right there were no excuses for the for why Glenn Ford treated his son. With that said I take it that you never neglected a loved one you have been for family and friends no matter what you were doing. You never were callous yourself towards another human being. So perfect by default so that gives you ample room to judge others especially, actors.

Unfortunately, Peter's story is not uncommon. In the studio era, the stars worked murderous hours, 6 days a week, made 3 to 6 films a year, and had to travel to promote them. That left very little time for family life, and sadly, a lot of these kids barely saw their parents growing up. I'm sure Glenn loved his son, but was unable to express it. Wonderful interview, thanks for posting.

Peter & his wife cared of his dad when Glenn was very ill. I don't know when he cared for him or for how long. I talked via E mails-I think, as a fan of his dad. I Had wondered what ever happened to Glenn Ford so I googled & some how got Peter Ford. Don't remember the details . Peter was so sweet & was writting the book about his dad & caring for him. I "talked" to him often -real time on the Glenn Ford site-I asked about his dad & he told me he had had a stroke, was in a wheel chair & he felt people had forgotten him . Glenn was living with Peter & his wife. Peter was trying to get Glenn a special Oscar for his body of work, he was really trying hard to get his dad that last chance Oscar. Peter was so kind & I talked to every fan that went to the site . We could leave messages for Glenn & Peter would read them to his dad! I didn't know anything about Glenn Ford's personal life so I was totally unaware of why he had not gotten an Oscar years ago or any struggles he might have had. I was just a fan. Glenn's birthday was coming up as Peter had posted it on the site, and messages poured in for Glenn. Peter said it cheered up his dad so much to hear those messages. Sadly the Oscars came around and Glenn did not get a special Oscar. I cried for Peter and Glenn. & As I remember Glenn died that year but I could be wrong. Peter was amazing in his loving communications to his dad's fans. Telling us who had dropped by to see Glenn & parts of the conversations, he was always loving and kind in any questions re his dad- I think he is an amazingly loving person & have total respect for him. He did not walk away from is dad when he needed someone to care- he cared for him is such a loving positive way & he cared for us, the fan's of his dad who only knew him from his movie roles.

In fact there was whole story about Glenn Ford and my Uncle in the Arizona Hwy's Magazine in the 60's. If anyone knows where I can access this or get a copy of it, I would appreciate if. Men of the era of Glenn Ford (b. 1916) were not generally emotionally demonstrative. Was it due to the great depression and/or WWII? I don't know, but I've heard it over and over again. I saw it in my own family as well. Anyway, being "the strong silent type" was actually a way of life for many men.

it's his right to write and speak his mind to sell a book, but he's not a very flattering figure for several reasons imo.
Glenn Ford appeared to be a very private person, aside from his movies of course. Safe to say he wouldn't have appreciated these embarrassing revelations.
Be grateful you weren't aborted or deprived of a home and food. bitterness isn't the answer.
