This is one of those songs that will last literally forever. This was the last track and single from Garth Brooks' eponymous first album with Capital Records, and his second single to hit #1 on the Billboard Country charts. But this song is much bigger than a country music chart topper....it's a song that helps define moments in people's lives.
It means something different to everyone.....to me it means that the journey we are on is so much more important than whatever destination we arrive at some day. Things happen in life that we don't plan for....but it's still worth it to try, to hope, and to love. No matter where you end up, time spent doing any or all of those three things will never be time wasted.
A tip of my hat to both Tony Arata who wrote this beautiful song, and Garth & his recording team who turned it into one of the most iconic records of the 20th century. Gentlemen, I salute you.
