I didn't realize the kick stand engine shutoff was a special feature for police bikes. I've had a 2010 police road king (flhp) for 9 years and I love it.

On my police model. I put speakers in the empty speaker pods, and hooked them up to a simple small amp With a Aux cord hookup mounted behind the front fairing. Add a ram mount to the bars and hook it up to your phone or MP3 player. Cheap and awesome set up if you want some tunes.

2000 FLHTPI owner here, it is my favorite Harley and daily driver here in Florida. Super tough wheels, electrical system, 55 amp stator, upgraded voltage regulator and cop battery, strengthened frame with fuel injected twin cam, it’s a beast!

Yes they do all come that way I have a 2006 FLHTPI, and it has the same as the 2000 FLHTPI. I bought mine last year and took it straight to the Harley dealer and had them do the 10,000 mile maintenance on it plus new tires, breaks, clutch cable gasket I bought the bike for $7300 with 9000 miles on it, never been in actual service, it was used as a training bike only, dealership said I got a hell of a bike for the price

I got a 2018 police road king. I bought the extended warranty on it. In the first several months I had to go back and get work done on it for several major repairs (cracked header pipe, blown transmission, blown heat box, leaking seals, new clutch) . Everything was covered. The first year I owned it I put 20,000 miles on it and have logged 80hrs of slow speed drills. I get my maintenance in regular intervals and it runs great. I still ride this bike everyday and I can see myself putting over 100,000 miles on it.

Yes they are great bikes, I got mine off of lease in 2016 it's a 103 High Output and yes it has upgraded 255SE Cams in a police bike which is an upgrade. When you purchase your police bike you have to get the computer programmed / turned back up. I pop wheelies on my cop bike / Walk it like I Talk it!

good video, I ride a 06 Flhpi, love it, #1 reason to purchase a decommissioned police bike..... Maintenance!. My bike is set for about 4 years before I purchased it from the owner that bought it at auction but never put it back on the road. The oil in the engine was so clean that the first thousand Miles I put on the bike,I left that oil in it. #2 Upgrades already done
My bike had a complete camchest upgrade, se203 cams, and by contacting the police department got all maintenance records. I was told that when they do a cam chest on police bikes at the dealer, they take the top apart instead of cutting the pushrods and using adjustables..so fresh breathers and rockerbox gaskets were also replaced....#3 and you said it brother.... price!!!!! I saved $2k over buying a civilian model...
Downside #1 is they aren't as clean and pretty when you get them, my floorboards crash bars etc were scraped up but like towmater says," Dents is memories" lol
#2 these bikes can be ridden hard, but Honestly I think Harley throws a little extra love in there for the boys in blue..... From my experiences, all cop models are built a little tougher than the civilian models. Both cars and bikes alike.
#3 extra wiring splices. One part about buying a used cop bike is you get to make it your own and not worry about putting scratches on it.... My next bike will definitely be another decommissioned flhpi... There's lots of other cool things but every department is different when they get rid of their stuff. Keep it shiny side up.

Went to the dealership to get some prices on 2 Police Road Kings for my Department. The Town President didn't want to take the plunge on a Motorcycle Traffic Unit. So I bought a 2010 FLHTP for myself. This was in 2010, and it now has over 92,000 miles on it. Runs great, burns no oil, only replaced the clutch once at about 65,000 miles. Been riding since 1965, and this is by far the best bike I've ever owned. 4 Road Kings, a Police Shovelhead, a V-Rod Muscle, a Gold Wing and numerous other Hondas, 1966-1984. This beats them all.

I’ve got a 2022 H-D FLHTP 114 Electra Glide Standard and I bought it brand new with like 6 miles on it! Mine has the red police switches removed and the illuminated switches installed, it came with a few really nice features like heated grips, cruise control, hill brake assist, ABS, wet traction control, and of course the jiffy stand kill switch!
I personally love this bike and I’m in the process of customizing it into a Performance Bagger, little by little! I’m also looking into a stereo, infotainment upgrade and I’m thinking about a Precision Power HDHU.14Si - 7”

I own a 1998 FLHTPI Electra Glide. These bikes are NOT about the glitz and glam. They are however 10 foot tall and bullet proof. The EVO is built heavier duty to include cams, crank, pumps, etc. Mine had lower miles because it came from the Northeast, where they can't drive them year round. The runing gear is super strong and they are extremely dependable. All thing's considered, it doesnt scare me to have one and ride one everyday.

Bought a used police edition 05 electraglide with 30,000 miles on it for $9,000 dollars. Two weeks later I had to have the clutch basket rebuilt $300, tires, brake pads and rotors are close to toast. A year later I had to have the engine rebuilt bc the shaft that drives the oil pump was warped and destroyed the oil pump. $2500. Radio (aftermarket)constantly cuts off and on. Front shocks need rebuilding. Don't want sell now bc I have more in it than I ever would get out of it.

I have been riding police Harleys since 1997, both Road Kings and Bat Wings with the police dept I work for.
The best bikes are usually the leased ones. They are usually 1 to 3 years old and low mileage. They get regularly scheduled service by the leasing dealer.
Dept. owned bikes are usually older higher mileage. And as noted in the video service may be severely lacking (check date codes on tires).
Avoid bikes leased or owned that have been to police MC school/training!
They get dumped alot, and suffer lots of abuse...
I can pick out a bike thats been to school in ten seconds: Look for scrapes underside of front crash bar, and rear sattle bag bars if equipped. Edges of floorboards ground right down and floorboard mounting brackets also ground down. Front fender aluminum skirt missing, replaced with aftermarket, or bent, ripped. They almost always get damaged due to running over cones for the different obstacles. Also look along the sides and undersides of the mufflers for strange markes. They get cone plastic baked on as well as boot rubber transfer from the rider.
They can be a great deal if you find a clean one. But understand the craziest things happen to police bikes! They are a tool for the officer and are ridden accordingly so beware.
One of our bikes was crushed against the garage wall by a fire engine. The guy who did it never told anyone and it wasn't immediately apparent (why cops hate hoseheads). Officer would have been killed if he didn't catch it.
That bike got a new frame and was immediately turned into dealer early!!
Our bikes are also used in crowd control. Thats why we went to the full fairing. People roll off the fairing and don't get caught up on the controls when we plow through violent demonstrators or unruly crowds...
Those are just a few of the crazy stories. If you can find out what agency had the bike it's worth making a phone call, you might even get to speak with the officer that rode that motor. (If u are a black lives matter asshole or sympathizer don't bother!).

Many of my coworkers and I ride used police bikes. We ride funeral escorts. Used police bikes are perfect for this. Because we treat them bad. These bikes sometimes are great bargains. Look at it closely and ride it for a good distance. Some are treated like a dirt bike. They get dropped , jumped , slid, and crashed. In addition to all the things mentioned in the vid : watch for burned / slipping clutch, Check for frame cracks at the neck. Look for bent upper fork covers ,(cowbells). That usually means a frontal crash where the forks got slammed around. Look for slack/play in the swingarm.
A police bike will ride stiffer than you expect. Yes, it has a cop suspension. Remember, they get fleet style maintenance. Everything is checked regularly. That's a good thing. If everything checks out, buy it.
