So beautiful and full of great ideas. When I was little we called the little pictures you showed at the end , scraps , to put into scrap books. Mum would let us hose one scrap every week from our local shop. Oh the joy of having something so beautiful . I was born in the late forties so there were not many luxuries around then, and everything was utilitarian and a bit drab.
Thank you very much Jane for your kind feedback. I too loved those scraps so much.Your childhood memory about them is lovely. I am glad you enjoy my art. : )
Yes ma'am, glitter makes EVERYTHING more special. Stuck at home I'm, like everyone else, looking for things to do, and if it's creative and expressive, all the better. I have no picture napkins like yours, but I do have a black and white Paisley-ish napkin that I'm gonna try this technique with. It looks like fun and you, as always, make it look so easy. TYFS, MK from the Southern California desert. ♥️🌵🏜️
It is easy and fun so give it a try. If you find that working with napkins is your thing, I would we happy to send you some to work with. Thanks so much Emma for browsing my channel and enjoying some of my older videos. Staying creative during these unusual times is a great stress reliever and fills up the, extra hours. Stay safe : )

What a lovely array of napkins! I also love your tip for separating the napkin layers using glue! I learn so much from you wonderful ladies (and gents!) on TH-cam!
Oh wow, the glue on the fingers to separate the layers was a wonderful idea. Love the stenciling under the napking. I would have never thought of that. Love the way you ink your edges. Too cool. They are all awesome. So glad I found your channel.
I am watching some older videos today because I need some positive creativity in my life today! This really helped. The pieces are lovely. Thanks, Ina.
You are so welcome, I am so glad you are browsing. That video came out, before 2017 ,when UTube messed things up for us smaller channels, notice the difference in views. Oh well..I am in it for the art and the fun..but it discouraged many video creators. Glad you like those canvas cards. : ) Thank you so much Susan.
Although I noticed the difference in views, I had no idea what caused it. Shoot. Well, I am at least glad they are available for those of us who missed them the first time. I didn't start watching art videos until 2019. Sure am enjoying them now!
I can’t say which piece I like best; maybe the one with micro beads. You achieved a brightness by placing the napkin over the yellow board. The art became luminous with that yellow sunrise/sunset effect showing thru. Lovely.
I enjoyed your tutorial. I liked how you added your own art to the napkin design and used many mixed media products. I also enjoyed the classical music.
Thank you Mary for taking time to watch and comment. I am pleased that you enjoyed this project. It's been awhile since I made this and I have changed my art focus a bit. Please do check out some of my newer videos as well. : )
Oh Ina, you did amazing things with those napkins! Your color choices and glitter were perfect. I recognized your new stencils. What a wonderful package from your friend. The napkins are gorgeous! I can imagine how those die cuts would have been so special to you as a child. I have always loved delicate paper bits too, which probably explains why we like paper crafts to this day.
Thank you so very much Lisa, so glad you like "em. Those pretty napkins made it look good all on their own. And you are right, our love for pretty paper goes waaaaaay back. LOL
Thank you for watching Almut. and glad you like the outcome. Yes wir haben auch Glanzbilder manchmal gesagt, und sie auch ins Poesiealbum geklebt. Doch Vielliebchen sagten die meisten. Schoenes Wort. : )
Ina, I always love your videos, but the die cuts were so special. Like you, as a child i loved them. In NZ we called them stickers, but saved them in little boxes for swapping. I still have a 1950's chocolate box with a collection from that period. Occassionally I have added to it. I also have a few sheets of the german ones, which are really beautiful. This was a little trip down memory lane. Thank you
Hi janet and thank you so much for your kind feedback. I can so relate. We used to keep our die cuts in cigar boxes with toilet paper as dividers. LOL I am so glad you are enjoying my videos. : )
Clever girl, using this napkins in this way wasn`t just a simple way to use a napkin. You`ve made the images your own. Never thought about putting down some pattern before I glue the napkin on, I always make sure that I keep the background fairly light that the image is clearly visible but having some stencil pattern on areas where nothing goes on..... that is a really good idea. It`s a pleasure to know you and it was so worth it to send you all that stuff.
Thanks Andrea. I am glad we are getting to know each other too and your art always inspires me and those napkins are wonderful and they made my work so easy. I want to do more of these, maybe for the craft fair, or gifts....or who knows..its a fun project. : )
So glad I just found you on TH-cam. I these small canvases with the napkins + your artistic and imaginative embellishments. I can't wait to make some for my grandchildren's monthly ATC's.
So glad you found me too Linda and i am happy that you like my napkin art pieces, These are so fun to make and I am sure your grand kids will enjoy them too. Please take a look around my channel for many more projects, that you might enjoy. Thank you for your kind comment. : )
So very nice and unique! Napkins are so versatile and too often overlooked. I now plan on using all these techniques, but I'll use my canvas paper as my substrate, then adhere the paper to the cover of a notebook. I love working with canvas paper, because it can take many wet mediums very well without warping. Thanks for the awesome inspiration and for sharing!
These are stunning. I have loads of beautiful napkins over from my decoupage faze. And yes, when I was a child, we used to collect those little ‘scraps’ as we called them in England. I haven’t seen any for years and I was delighted to see the ones your friend sent you. TFS. And I’ve subscribed. 😃👍
Wonderful video Ina. I love how you used napkins here on small canvas boards. I would stick some decorative ribbon or tape to the backs and hang them in sets of three and four. I am so glad I watched this. Thank you very much for sharing your art. Hugs xxx
Oh your napkin art is fabulous tfs Ina I too had a collection of them, we called them swaps as we would swap ones we had a lot of for ones we did not have, I loved them, thank you for bring back that lovely memory

Hi Ina Solsbery! Thank you for sharing your art work with us. I enjoyed watching your video! You´re doing an awesome job! This is a new world opening for me. My head is exploding with all the ideas I´m receiving right now. I love it! I did my first napkin experience yesterday by ioning them on a 120gr paper, but it got krinkels in the middel. I think that came from the soft part of my ion board. But I will not give up. You inspire me to try again. Keep up doing this great crafting. May the Lord bless you witn more of this wonderful creativity. And how nice from Andrea to send you all those items. Those last ones, the pictures, are my favorites also. They are indeed from our childhood moments. I´m happy to see that they still make them. I will definitily visit Andrea´s channel. I´m sure she will inspire me also. I wish you good look with your art work & since we´re still in the month January, I would like to also wish you a prosper 2017!Be blessed Ina Solsbery! Sending you warm hugs from Surinam!
Thank you so very much Marlene foe your kind comment and taking the time to write. This is so encouraging for me and I really appreciate it. I am so happy that you enjoy my work and that it inspires you to try out new things. Napkins are one of my favorite things to work with and depending on your project, wrinkles are welcome. HA So happy to hear that you are familiar with those german die cuts, they are lovely. Where did you grow up? Surinam must be a very pretty place. My daughter in law is from Brazil and I visited there, very green and lush and beautiful. Thank you for your well wishes,,same to you. Happy 2017 hugs from Colorado.
I like your work. The great thing about it is that it doesn’t stop at the placing of the napkin....it’s the other touches you add, and knowing where to place them and when to stop. Wonderful !
I so enjoyed this video. It gave me some more ideas for using some of the absolutely gorgeous napkins I've bought off Ebay. I really enjoyed hearing the story from your childhood, it was very sweet. I will definitely check out Andrea's channel. Thanks for sharing your talent, I almost always learn something new!
Wow those turned out just beautifully! Thanks for the tip with the napkins, it's not always very easy to take those layers off, but now I know an easier way! Yay! 😉😊
Your skill, artistry, and techniques are brilliantly creative...I just love watching you “build” the art piece...just when I think, oh, its done, you add more and more
Your napkins are lovely just the way they are. Then you add so much to make these look magnificent! I will watch this again as I am so inspired by your techniques. Thanks for sharing☺️
Great little pieces of art Ina! I like it that you started with the stencils. You immediately created a soft background for the napkins! I also loved how you made the black border on the African canvas, I will copy that! Andrea's die cuts take me back in time too, in the Netherlands we call them 'poesieplaatjes'. I didn't know they were still for sale! Your Johann Strauss music reminds me of André Rieu. I took my mother to his concert in Maastricht a few weeks ago, as a gift for her birthday. Thanks Ina!
Thank you so much Mieke, and yes we also used those die cuts in Poesie albums, but I always liked swapping them better, HA Glad you enjoy my canvas art and I so envy you living close to Maastricht. I love Andre Rieu and would love to go to one of his concerts, He does not come to the States,he is more appreciated and successful in other countries!??Love his music and often listen to it when I work. : )
+Ina Solsbery Hi Ina, I checked for you. André did have a tour of 21 concerts in North America and Canada in 2011, so big chance he will come again soon. Keep an eye on his website www.andrerieu.com. You know, it's not even my favourite music but but a live performance is unforgetable because of his character and the atmosphere. So...who knows....
i hope you are right.. I am on his website and I get notices. I am also in a Andre FB group based here in the States...and that tour in 2011 did not have the responds that he got in Australia. or even in Mexico....but we hope., otherwise there is always Utube Ha but I know its not the same than a live concert.
Love your art so very much and you have inspired me to start making art again after not being well enough to do much - Thank you. I wanted to share a Tip for removing layers from Napkins it is to use a glue stick (press the under side of the napkin gently onto a glue stick and pull gently. It works well. I enjoying looking through your wonderful pieces of fabulous things.
I love watching you create, I see something new I can incorporate into my work each time I watch like using a straight edge when you ink the edges. I always manage to get ink farther into the picture than I plan but nest time I will be using your idea. I can't pick a favorite because all three are pretty but I think the black white and yellow is my favorite. Thanks for sharing, Miss Ina.
Thank you, Ina, for this wonderful video. You have collected so many handy techniques and use them so beautifully. You have inspired me to try a few new things in making my cards.
I love the work you do, very beautiful. I live in Germany with my sister who works on an American base as a counselor for middle school kids. Germany has such beautiful napkins, I love shopping for them! So hard to just choose a few!

Thank you Barbara for your kind and encouraging comment and the great glue stick tip. These little things are fun and easy to make,,give it a try, : )

Beautiful, you have a knack for layering texture upon texture. I really enjoy watching you create!
Thank you Alicia. The hardest part is to know when to stop. Ha
