Thank you for this interesting vlog of the Leica 1a. These early Barnack inspired cameras were the foundations for others to follow. Agree entirely with the sentiments you have about these classics. Have often desired a black 1934 Leic 11. I have a Zorki 3 with a Jupiter 8 f2 lens which needs more use! Thanks Derek, we are off to Herefordshire for a short break next week and I'm taking three film cameras. The 1a for test surprises, the IIIf and a camera that I haven't featured yet, namely a medium format Mamiya 645 1000s. I have a 24frame Ilford FP4 film in the 1a and will try to fire off that film first. Whatever the results I will report back. As always thanks for your comments and get some film in that Zorki!
So glad to see another addition to your collection. I’ve watched your videos many times and helped me to choose my first Leica. I generally collect items pre 1945, naturally was drawn to steppers(not fitting budget) then Leica II Black (still not in budget) so got a IIIa 1938 body that needs cla. I service binoculars for my collecting. And also a FED 1b 1936, preparing new curtains for. My Father always wanted a Leica II, he use to point out all the copy’s at Sears, J.C. Penny’s, Wards, etc. when I was a kid in 60’s. My IIIa just fits my bill and love it. Thanks again.

Hi Paul, my wife got it off ebay. most of the collection are now fitted with the same strap. chose this type because they have a protective panel that prevents the steel rings from scratching the body. They weren't to expensive either.
