I am no expert but this young lady dancing Hula has to be one of the best I have ever seen - her hand movements are incredible! I am simply mesmerized when watching her perform - I sure hope she or someone that knows her see's this and leaves a comment - I researched and cannot find a name similar to what IZ says her name is - PLEASE anyone tell us her name... Again no expert .. but yes. .. and young . They start very early and practice practice. Wonderful to watch the contests on all islands .. there is also a whole Tahitian group .. and for contests they have to make entire outfits. Skirts Headdresses and leis for same day contests.
Aloha. Her name is LYANA BEDNORZ, the winner of "Miss Keiki Hula" in 1991 at the 16th Annual Queen Liliʻuokalani Keiki Hula Competition. She danced for Nā Mamoaliʻi o Kaʻuiki at the time, under kumu hula Nāmāhana Kalama-Pānui in Hāna, Maui, who, as Hokuokalani mentioned here in the comments, was married to the late Bill (Kalikolehua) Pānui of Keʻei, South Kona. I hope you will now be able to credit her in the "about" info for this video.
@@KalikoTrapp Mahalo nui, you should know, I am noe friends with Lyana, It took me 9 years to find her but I did on Facebook, when I showed her this video, it brought back some beautiful memories for her and she was in tears when she seen the video now 30 years later.
