      E-Cloth polishing cloth. Just wet and use. Do not wash it with other clothes or items. Do not put in dryer.
      Number 2: clean with ammonia. It takes away all of the build up.

    My Ex husband used to have a/own a detail shop. He told me years ago, the best way to clean glass is to use a cloth (clean wash cloths, shop towels, etc.), wet it with water and wring it out. Then use it on the mirror to wipe it. Then before it dries use another clean cloth to wipe it dry. This was long before you heard about micro fiber cloths. It really works great.

    Just as a FYI, microfiber clothes do not 'kill' germs, as many people believe. They 'remove' the germs by trapping them in the cloth. Just some good information to have so we don't cross contaminate when cleaning with these. Thanks for the video! I tried this with a different brand of microfiber cloth and it worked great!

    I agree with Tracy in a previous comment. Norwex cloths are good but e-cloths are cheaper and do the job just as well. Basically the same thing. Robin over at Faith and Flour also was a former Norwex user and switched to e-cloths and uses them throughout her home. Thank you for doing the experimental trials for us. 😃

    I just tried a bottle of glass cleaner called "Invisible Glass" and it is amazing. Our car windows look like new. I am kicking myself for continuing to use "Windex" for most of my life just because that is what my mother always bought. It's streaky and has a strong chemical odor, but I always thought it was supposed to be the best. "Invisible Glass" hardly has a smell at all, goes on very watery which was surprising but it doesn't streak. I did use one paper towel for spreading and scrubbing and a clean one to dry.

    I worked cleaning at a well known ski lodge and what worked PERFECT was a very wet magic eraser and wiping it over the entire mirror and then take a dry white wash cloth and wipe it off. Worked every time. If really really bad spray diluted distilled vinegar before you use the wet eraser and then dry white cloth.

  • @kelle1808
    @kelle1808 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Norwex does a great job. When they get saturated w oils/dirt they need to be boiled in water to become effective again. Try that w your other micro towels. It’s best to put microfiber in the dryer because it helps dust cling to them when used to clean/dust. But if you’re using softener products in your dryer even if you don’t add them to the next load of microfiber they are probably going to clean the inside of your dryer and pick up what the softener has left behind! Eliminate all typical softener products and replace with vinegar. A quarter cup in your washing machine will help and wool dryer balls in your dryer. If you do this make sure you wipe down the inside of your dryer with vinegar or a Norwex cloth & water to get the last remaining residue of softener products out of your dryer.
    A product I use on large mirrors that I cannot reach very well and that keeps the dust off of them for longer than just using microfiber and water is the Original Beeswax Old World formula furniture Polish. My vacuum cleaner repair shop was selling it and I was told it can be used on countless things. It is sold on Amazon-solid 5 star reviews. I love how long my mirrors stay dustless after I clean them using just this product. It’s a foaming product also;)

    I had several decorative mirrors in storage when I went abroad. I didn't get a temperature controlled shed . As a result a few of my belongings ended up having some sort of water or heat damage including my mirrors. They had this very strange streaks which I attributed to just the back and forth cold and heat condensation and so forth hopefully years ago I had gotten Super glue on my fingers and looked out looked up how you hack getting Super glue off my fingers and it was just a saltwater you just rub you know the abrasiveness of the salt will eventually rub it off and it works wonders and very quickly so I applied the same concept of salt to the mirrors now first they came back you know depending on the damage still smeared but a couple of them were immediately cleaned there's no smears completely shiny never seen anything like it before and all it was with water than salt then more water and more salt you rub it all in then you wipe it off till it's dry bust a mirror

  • @myrasmama
    @myrasmama 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You have to turn the lights off above the mirror or otherwise it will cause streaks to dry on it. You have to get the mirrors cooled down from the lights. I usually go over with a dry microfiber to buff out the streaks.

    • @Gigi-Vivi
      @Gigi-Vivi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      OMG I’ve never heard of this before and I have gone through every kind of cloth or wipe and every type of solution and still sometimes my mirrors would streak and it drove me nuts, I read your comment and turned off all the lights and opened up a window it’s about 50 degrees outside and after 20 minutes I cleaned the mirrors in the dark and when I turned on the lights no streaks!!! None! Spotless! Thank you so much! Myra has one smart mama! If you’ve tried everything else you might as well try this it’s free and absolutely worked for me. FYI I used paper towels and a mixture of water, vinegar and 91% rubbing alcohol. A lot of rubbing alcohol!

  • @maryhemphill9419

    I think your mirror streaks were something you accidentally smeared on there from your cloth, which you probably knew! Therefore, you needed something to act either as a solvent to dissolve that waxy stuff (probably fabric softener or dryer sheet residue) or something to gently scrub it off as a gentle abrasive, which the microfiber did. The reason all the various chemicals didn’t work was probably because they weren’t the right solvent to dissolve that particular type of waxy crud. Sometimes simpler is better, because you can get various chemical reactions that make the “new” resulting residue even harder to remove! Fabric softener and dryer sheets are mixed blessing, and can make more work for us in the form of stains and residue! I almost never use them since they are adding more chemicals to my life and more expense for me! Also, hot water is your friend when you need to “melt” away a mess! Great video!

    As a proffisional cleaner for cleaning mirror/window, I just learn how to do it and it takes time.
    I first steam the mirror hot as water 140 degree then sponge the All around 10x then spray the mirror with water until is just all liquids no bubble left.
    Then I use the squeegee put pressure into it. As you go down you notice all the water drip off.
    Squeegee it the dry the rubber blade as you repeat the same process again.

    I'm a pharmacist. A surfactant (sur-fac-tant) is a substance that reduces the surface tension of a fluid - in other words, it makes liquids wetter. A nonionic or anionic surfactant is less likely to create foam than an ionic surfactant, which is a component of soap.

      I just use a distilled white vinegar mixture spray it on the mirror or glass then use magic eraser and then use a squeegee and it comes out perfect every single time and it's so quick! I should add that I wipe the squeegee dry in between passes so there's zero streaking. Works for me every single time. I have my own cleaning business and have tried everything! Wished I would've discovered my little trick years sooner hehehe

The reason it didn't work well for her is because she barely wiped /scrubbed the mirror with it and she didn't use the distilled vinegar and water solution(I always use slightly less water compared to the DWV.

    Use news paper to clean your mirrors instead of paper towels or cloths. They say that it’s something in the news paper probably the ink. But personally I don’t know for sure. But I use news paper works great for me 🍓

    Professional Auto Detailers are well versed in making glass absolutely streakless. Microfiber waffle towels are made specifically for polishing glass - Use at least 3 towels. But, I'm sure the humidifier isn't helping.

    I used Sprayway cleaner on a mirror in my bedroom and it stained the mirror. Every place I sprayed Sprayway left a cloud stain on the mirror. Its not streaks. It actually a stain and I have not be able to remove it. I only spray a little so it did not get behind the glass. Ruined my mirror and its very noticeable. I tried using white vinegar and it still does not remove the cloudy stain. Any suggestions?

    If you happen to get anything downy or softners on microfiber towels have been washed/dryed w any type of softners. You can STRIP you laundry there are alot of youtube videos out there on how to do it. I found a much cheaper way to strip clothing or colored items w stains that WON'T come out or you accidentally dried them in. You can try clorox 2 for colors it comes in a powder form in a box. You can purchase it from Family Dollar for $3-$4 a box or a larger box for close to $6 at Meijer's grocery store. I add double the amt of product into a clear bin w a lock top tote and get the water extremely hot and pretreat stains w blue dawn and add powder/water/clothes. I let it sit in my tub for 12hrs stir w laundry stick and let it rest for 12more hours. I wash it out w just laundry soap and check items to make sure all stains come out and you won't believe all the build up from laundry soaps, downy beads, fabric softner sheets plus dirt/ build up left in clothing it doesn't take any colors out of clothing actually brightens colors and whites will look new again. I can't use bleach and it makes white socks look brand new again.
    I have had friend's do this in their washers who have top loaders but, I actually want to see all the gross stuff that comes out of my clothing and you can see it in a clear tote and I think it works better hotter water out of my tub and I think it works alot better than using my top loader washer.

    This is a truly perplexing problem. My guess is we do not know what is causing the streaks (certainly not me) and--each individual's mirror may be different. What has accumulated on the surface? Old spray on chemicals plus ordinary collections of dust, etc.? I am as mystified as everyone else. However, from watching the comments here, I am going to try my natural dish liquid, followed by newspaper. If that doesn't work, I'll try a vinegar rinse. If that doesn't work, I will be searching once again. I have tried dry soda on a dry cloth (slight improvement, but not enough), dry table salt, vinegar, dry blue cloth, dry microfibre cloth--all to no effect. I don't know what mirrors are made of these days--that would be helpful. Also what are the manufacturers putting on the surface? I don't know what a previous tenant may have used as a cleaner. But I do know this: in previous decades we did not have this mirror cleaning problem. So I suspect it is a consequence of modern manufacturing plus spray on cleaners. (Open to being corrected.)

    so since I didn't have any towels that were clean without softener I just sprayed a good line of glass cleaner on one sheet folded long ways & wiped it & it's perfectly wiped with no steaks, don't spray the mirror, spray your paper towel, & don't use too much product, steaks are from using too much that doesn't dry correctly, when you use less & wipe it accurately side to side going down it works great, it's really how much product you're using, less is more

I think u are right about the towels being tainted by softner or maybe dryer sheets? Anyway I decided to strip all the products build up from cleaning frustration with plain ole vinegar! Low and behold it worked!

I just use a distilled white vinegar mixture spray it on the mirror or glass then use magic eraser and then use a squeegee and it comes out perfect every single time and it's so quick! I should add that I wipe the squeegee dry in between passes so there's zero streaking

    Let me say… I’m with you about streaks on mirrors!!! I have used rubbing alcohol with clean white cotton cloths for years! I also use it on stainless steel to remove spots! But I had hard water spots on my shower doors that were driving me crazy like you I scoured the Internet to try to find ways to cut the soap scum without Etching the glass. I too have a friend that sells Norwex ‘that was my last resort as they are very pricey… She ordered me several clothes, one designed for windows/glass! I used Norwex years ago when I had my bakery… And honestly had forgotten about them, they worked great then and why wouldn’t they work right now?!
    Fast forward two weeks I received my products first thing I did is ran upstairs to the kids bathroom got my spray bottle of water and within five minutes not only was the soap scum gone, but they looked like brand new doors I was so excited I sent a video to all my friends… LOL like you I’m not promoting Norwex or my friend who sells It, but honestly all of their products are absolutely phenomenal and if you have problems keeping the grease off your microwave window (& if yours like mine sits right above my stove), you will not be sorry if you use a Norwex ‘s kitchen cloth!!
    Love all of your hacks thank you so much keep up the great work! I’ve used many of them!!!!
