Paul Simon is one of America's great poets, a treasure. Its so nice to see the two of them getting along. Everything they've done has been special but for me, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. is my favorite S&G album and Bleeker Street my favorite song.
Paul seems to be wearing the exact outfit that he's wearing on the cover of his 1983 solo album "Hearts and Bones", only with a different tie. Interesting.
He is wearing the same outfit. He doesn't want to spend the money on new clothes. As long as they don't fall off due to wear and tear, why should he spend the money on new clothes? Guys like him hate to spend money on food to eat because they know that they only poop it out later. That's how cheap they are.
it seems great talent never comes from easy lives. so many times those who are compensating create timeless acts. the music has been some of the very best ever. magical its sad to know the suffering behind the scene but perhaps without it the magic could not happen
It’s amazing how complex we are as source and human beings. The lessons we’ll have, the ways in which we experience life, the conclusions we may or may not come to. Look at the body language starting at 2:03. Paul hears the way Art is talking, does a body scan of Art, and adjusts his own posture. It’s in the eyes. Art has always been himself at all times, everywhere he goes and that’s largely probably due to him being on the spectrum (I suspect). He’s in his own world, mostly. Both have Chirons in Leo, the wound of talent. Researching this and more, you can see that they appear different, but actually mirror each other- and they see in each other the things they haven’t accepted about themselves. That’s why their source selves agreed to work with one another here on Earth. Together, they are a major part of eachother’s life scripts. Luck & all else finds Art, Paul has to work for it a little, both doubt/pondered their worth internally, both are extraordinary together❤
So funny: Paul born 17 days earlier but "born premature", so he is younger (sounds like a race of their mothers). They both are VERY individualistic. No wonder that they behave like fire and ice.
It is a great line. It particularly hit home with me, because I also knew a Steve Martin who was not THE Steve Martin. (BTW, Luis Guzman, but not THE Luis Guzman, was the service advisor when I took my car in for service a couple weeks ago.
unfortunately the getting back together didn't last ... Paul removed all of Art's parts on the album they spoke about doing toegether here and he released it as his own solo album "Hearts and Bones"
I think I just figured out why these two sometimes clash. Simon thinks he's the superior in the group (and rightly so), but Art is taller, better looking, and way more arrogant.
Paul wrote all the songs which meant art had no control of music direction. Paul did solo on the side without telling art. Art then went off and did movies without telling Simon. They also did it for tat stopping singing mid song decades apart. Final straw when art didn't tell Paul his voice was damaged and he found out on tour. Everyone except Danny DeVito is taller, but art was also a much better singer
@@cruiser6260 My take is that Art does really respect Paul, but does not feel respected in return. Paul mentioned that Art sings really good. But Simon and Garfunkel is an artistic creation (writing yes (Paul), but performance most especially). Art is not a technician on auto-tune. They have a sound which they adjust to each other. I think Paul really wanted (and achieved) critical success as a song writer and guitarist. If only Paul had been able to see that he WAS respected in this way, perhaps it would have allowed him to give Artie CREATIVE credit as half of the performance sound. Ultimately, both genius and they both seem very kind, each with their own idiosyncrasies, as expected.

Based on their articulacy you word assume that both of them contributed equally to the songwriting, at least as regards lyrics. Did Paul actually forbid Art from writing or was Art too intimidated by the standard Paul had set to try?
I haven't ever real posted before, but the tension is palpatable between the two. Paul cones off as a jerk, and Art as a hippie. I say get along for the sake of your fans.
unfortunately the "getting along" didn't last ... Paul removed all of Art's parts on the album they were doing toegther and released it as his own solo album "Hearts and Bones"
There seems to be some sort of underlying tension between Simon and Garfunkel here. To this day neither of these guys get along. One person even went so far to say recently that if these guys had knives they would probably stab each other..
Find it interesting these two echo the same sentiment of other pop musicians. When asked who s greatest, they always default to chronology. So, Buddy Holly and Jerry Lee Lewis were better than Elvis who was better than the Beatles who were better than The Who ad infinitum. Guess it's a safe way to honor others while not diminishing your own contribution.
In a later interview with Letterman, Paul Simon ( alone )was also petty and hard to talk to about Garfunkel. Given that they agreed to appear on this show, being paid, AND were able to plug their Tour, this kind of behaviour is not only unprofessional but infantile and disrespectful to their millions of fans.

As much as they can get along I'll partially agree with you there Paul is such a Snobby Dickhead by most standards
Agreed about Wednesday Morning 3 AM and Bleeker Street; I think his first solo album is his best solo album too
Are you talking about the author of "Roly poly little bat faced girl"
I like Art.
I think Paul is the best looking one but both good looking .Paul is amazing
"Paul is 17 days older than I am."
"Art is older because I was born prematurely."
😅
Dynamic duo ❤childhood friends ...sweet 😊
Best duo ever, in my opinion. I am grateful their music was in my generation. ❤❤
paul really is funny as hell
The power of the band!
Simon and Garfunkel, a class act.
Paul Simon is very nice and funny 😂❤

Great couple
Brilliant individuals, great musicians!
If only they had put juggling in their shows early on they could have really made it big.
😂
My friends went to the “warm up” show in Akron, Ohio at the Rubber Bowl. At least they brought me back a tee shirt.
Paul was probably pissed that art sat next to dave lol i love these guys!!

Einstein had only identical suits, becasue he didn't want to waste time thinking about what to wear.

❤❤❤
I saw art at the craps table...mullet bay..1977
OMG the interview hasn't been sliced in half by Google!
Apparently, Toronto 🇨🇦 and Vancouver 🇨🇦 are part of USA's cities.
Wow. Dave is nervous. Is this really his first show with guests? Oh, just got to the Good & Plenty story. Learned that Paul was a guest previously.
Interesting that Paul is sitting further away. 2 tremendous talents and egos!
That Don LaHerman has some definite potential. I hope to see many good things in the future from Mr. LaHerman.
How can you have Simon and Garfunkel as guests and they don't sing at least 1 song? Dave producers were lame.
Dave was sheet. But they could have made it clear before, that they would not sing.
❤❤❤❤❤❤🇧🇷💝🇧🇷💝
Well, one of them has a sense of humor.
There was some bad blood back in the day... Glad they made it back together, unlike the beatles and other bands from the day.
For about 5 days each decade yes.
the beatles never reunited but they were mostly all friends by the time john died.. then there was anthology, so it wasn’t so bad
Yes and probably had to do with jockeying for position. They forgot no need to, their voices were one. Pretty amazing.
unfortunately the getting back together didn't last ... Paul removed all of Art's parts on the album they spoke about doing toegether here and he released it as his own solo album "Hearts and Bones"

Garfunkel is taller but Simon is better looking and far more talented and has a lovely voice, too
@@julianicholas6088 Paul is so cute to

"This is a little silly, even for your show"
John Cleese said Monty Python made a career out of being silly and that there was nothing wrong with being silly, lighten up Art.
He obviously hadn’t watched the show much.
Garfunkel yourself 😂

This interview shows why Johnny Carson was so much better.
আমার অতি অতি প্রিয় জুটি দি গ্রাজুয়েট সিনেমা থেকে। দুজন চিরকাল একসাথে থাকলে আরো অনেক নাম করতো।
Akron
Did they get paid for performing? They don't look like it...
Paul looks uncomfortable
Paul Simon was a rattlesnake for erasing Artie's vocals on "Hearts and Bones" album. Definitive back stabber.
Good that he did.. the album is absolutely gorgeous with just Paul.
Simon didn't look happy coming on stage.
There seems to be some sort of underlying tension between Simon and Garfunkel here. To this day neither of these guys get along. One person even went so far to say recently that if these guys had knives they would probably stab each other..
That was their manager talking about an argument that got physical
Artie’s hair! 👴🏻
What an awkward interview
I thought so too. Their music is great but that was hard to watch.
Typical Letterman.....
Seriously-they didn’t sing???
Art's real last name is Garr.
The guy interviewing is talentless. Simon & Garfunkel are talented.
Art is bored. He’s too intelligent for Dave’s silliness.

I never understood why Paul Simon is so femininely mannered
he's an artist
