Very helpful video that popped up when I searched for "Komoot Premium." Your video explains exactly what I needed to know. I purchased Komoot about 12 months ago, and then have been confusd by the apparent need to also subscribe - now I know what I got for my "purchase" (all maps inc. world), and what I would get for my "subscription". There is a good discount in the UK at the moment - subscription for £20 instead of £60 - so I think I will go for it.
Must say I can't see the major advantage of being able to create a multi-day trip - I already did this, simply by creating a separate route for each day. I think the main advantage for me would be the extra information on cycle-specific routes like NCN (National Cycling Network) routes in the UK.
I'm surprised your video doesn't have more views or likes - your explanations are very clear.

      Hey David,
thank you for your motivating feedback! I get Komoot Premium directly as an influencer. I have been explaining outdoor applications and devices on my German channel for about 7 years. On request, I have created English tutorials. In the German channel it is rather confusing. That's why I created this english channel. It just takes a little time to grow ;)

@@Outdoortechinstructor hello, thought I would provide an update. I paid £19.99 last year for Premium, and was surprised to have £59.99 automatically deducted from my bank account today! I received no advanced warning that the subscription would be deducted, and I have now cancelled Premium and requested a refund. Here are my thoughts after 1 year of using Premium:
Access to World maps - I already paid for these separately, so don't need Premium account to access them.
Ability to plan multi-day tours - unless you do a lot of these, or have a VERY long trip planned, it's not especially useful. If I plan a 5-day tour, I can just create 5 separate routes.
Access to weather reports - I can access weather information in other ways. If I put my hand out of the window and it gets wet, it means it's raining!
Ability to create collections - meh. Not worth £59.99!
Ability for friends to track you - again, this is possible by other means.
Overall, I think Premium isn't worth it for anyone but the dedicated cyclist who does lots of multi-day riding (and even then, not essential), and/or belongs to a community of fellow Komoot users, and wants to share social media type information about their rides. Just buy world maps (often available at a discounted £19.99), plan your routes and go ride!

Very helpful Thomas, so glad I started straight off with the premium world package version . But as an added bonus I never realised that every week I get an email with links to areas showing me that each area has loads of separate areas within each one that I can look at to decide where my next cycle route will take me and then I can save the routes into separate folders within my Komoot account, so that if I don't have any of my own routes to hand, I do in fact have hundreds, if not thousands (over time) that I can grab and ride at a moments notice. As always Thomas, much appreciated and many thanks.

Thank you Terry! Komoot really offers a lot of possibilities for use. I must confess that I prefer to plan my own tours. When I hike through our forests or in my holiday countries, I am often on very lonely paths. I love that :)

Can we see gradient in unplanned riding?

    • @Outdoortechinstructor
      @Outdoortechinstructor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

No you can't. To see the gradient you need a planned or completed tour. To estimate the incline and the decline, use the contour lines on the map.

5 euros in germany.. and 5 times the cost @ $30 in the USA.. if you are a world wide internet service, why are there different prices depending on where you live.. This seems like gouging Americans..

    (english down below)
    english:
hi. it's a shame that you didnt describe the live tracking more detailed, because that's the premium feature i'm most interested in.
i mean like how exactly does the tracking work, how reliable is it, and can you check/track my location without having komoot?
my plan: i want to give my community the opportunity to track my location during a livestream tour. and of course they most likely dont use komoot themselves.
on a side note: after a few words i already thought "the pronouncation sounds like he's german". and i was right.

I bought premium only to have bicycle network map which it's not available in standard version. It cost me £30 first year and then£60 regular price.
I'm going to unsubscribe after 1 year because it's too expensive. Or I will get addicted on premium and will keep it😂
