This is always so consistently interesting and fun to watch, so thank you for uploading it each week! The synergy between the hosts is always so fun to watch, especially with how clearly everyone is enjoying themselves, it's just really pleasant!
I have a Kess deck, she was actually the first commander deck ive ever built and i adore it endlessly. I play around with extra turns and flashback mechanics and even have a few adventure splashes in there
Cedric Lallain it’s a tapped land that only makes a single color. It really doesn’t belong in most 3 or more color decks. It should probably be in every mono black deck and most 2 color decks that can run it though.
I think that most Simic Commanders focus on lands or creatures (+1/+1) but there's one that i really love because of its versatility and that is Rashmi. Spellslinger decks, creature decks, artifacts, even landfall decks, she does everything and is very underplayed.
The first commander deck I brewer was a Momir Vig deck and that was very much a tool box style deck and what lead me to fall in love with high versatility commanders
Excited to listen to this! I've seen an outstanding Samut deck with tons of activated abilities. Also, I think Prossh is one of the best here: Voltron threat, army-in-a-can, and sac outlet, all in one!
i agree completely. the versatile commanders are the ones that don't point you in any particular direction, so you can do literally anything with them. i think the more powerful commanders got too much attention in this video because people just like to have powerful commanders piloting their decks. as the example i gave, korvold literally only has one theme, sacrifice, so i don't know how he could be the most versatile.
@Edmond Dantes I have built Chulane Mutate, as the interaction with bouncing (and the huge amounts of mana Chulane can get) can be really funny. Sprinkle im some synergy with Mutate and some copy creatures like clever impersonator and Spark Double and you are good to go.
I like the order of the guilds you guys went with (allied colors first, enemy volors second) but technically, any Guildpact illustration shows them entertwined in a specific order: Azorius, Orzhov, Dimir, Izzet, Rakdos, Golgari, Gruul, Boros, Selesnya, Simic. I only say that because the order is very elegant, being allied color pair followed by enemy color, and they also show a 5 guild axis representing a color, starting and ending with enemy color pair featuring the color, allied color pairs featuring the color, and in the middle, the color pair that are enemys among themselves, but are allied to that primary color.
I loves the challenge of the stats this episode!! Can you do an entire episode like this!! (Or link an episode if i have missed it) I love looking for cards that need more play!! I will buy all of these cards! Thank you
I built a Xenagos stomp deck but instead of using Xenagos as the commander, I use Ulrich of the Krallenhorde, which may not be as strong but it's way more fun imo.
Keep it up guys, good content, nice explanations, bad jokes and some sexy casters. Would be nice to see one of you in a gameknights episode though! #commandzone
TBH, Esper artifacts are such a thing that my Zur deck leans on them pretty hard actually. Walking Ballista, Helm of Obedience, Teferi's Puzzle Box, and a bunch of ramp mean the deck runs 13 artifacts in total, with the 3 best combos both being half artifact. I even run Enlightened Tutor and Fabricate. That said, Zur doesn't need to be an artifacts deck at all, Zur decks have plenty of ways to find a win. I prefer stax builds, but Necropotence is hard to argue against.
I have a Zur deck that's pretty stax heavy, it has every kind of hate in the deck so as long as i can keep Zur out i can stop any kind of deck. The problem being i need Zur out and people know that so blowing him up is most peoples counter play
edhrec just doesnt seem to load in for me anymore. i have tried everything from resetting my wifi router, to even trying to restart my computer. are you guys just updating the sight, or is this my computer?
Hmm, I challenge some of these picks. It doesnt seem like your reading the data close enough and accounting for overlap. A couple commanders, I would say, are the exact opposite of "versatile", but they made this list because the data isnt being read in context. Let's take a look at Jhoira for example. This commander made the list because it has 10 different themes, so it must be a really versatile and open ended commander, right? No! You only build Jhoira one way: cheap artifacts that draw the whole deck! Look at the themes: artifacts, cheerios, storm, historic, cantrips, equipment, artificer tribal. These themes are not diverse when you look at the commander. They all actually appear to overlap and describe the ONE way to build that deck. Compare that to Keranos with themes like: spellslinger, counterspells(isnt that just spellslinger?), Top deck, chaos, wheels (isnt that just spellslinger?), wizard tribal, Lands, Theft. Keranos, by comparison, is WAY more versatile than I would have thought (Lands?! Interesting!)
yeah not sure i like how you guys do "versatile". for korvold, sacrifice, aristocrats, tokens, goblin tokens, pod are basically the same thing. you're just sacrificing creatures.
Obviously all his themes focus around sacrifice, but that's pretty much what Jund in general does. But hes especially useful that he benefits from all sorts of sacrifices. Food, Clues, Treasures, delicious goblins, Eldrazi Spawn/Scions, lands, even Sagas work; that's where his strategies can diverge if you're clever about deckbuilding. Or you're just me who likes ALL the things listed and runs all of those to some degree.
@@auroralee if all his themes focus on sacrifice, then that makes him not versatile. which is exactly my point. versatile by definition means you can do lots of different things with it. golos for example. you can do literally anything with him as a commander. korvold really only has one theme, sacrifice. what you happen to be sacrificing doesn't really make a difference.
Just wanna show some love for that seemingly unappreciated “flawless maneuver” compliment!
Underappreciated means cheaper over time. I approve. :3

I’m excited for my new graveyard hate tribal deck!
46:12 Why do i have a feeling that Ashlen edited that part of this podcast?
I think we can all agree 😂
I have a Kess deck, she was actually the first commander deck ive ever built and i adore it endlessly. I play around with extra turns and flashback mechanics and even have a few adventure splashes in there
Golgari is best colors? Yes. Yes they are.
Those are some big words for someone within lightning striking distance
You misspelled Simic there.
golgari is cool because its the colour of racism as well as nihilism
Dana the line "all the things you can do with Marchesa" I was sipping some water and almost died laughing. thanks for that!
I put the "Dead" in "Deadly Rollick"
My challenge the stats suggestion is: "Bojuka Bog", it's only being played in 33% of decks which can run it, and honestly, it should be a lot higher!
Cedric Lallain it’s a tapped land that only makes a single color. It really doesn’t belong in most 3 or more color decks. It should probably be in every mono black deck and most 2 color decks that can run it though.
Jake applegate I think you missed my point here :-) it was related to the running joke throughout this video.
I'm running it my Grixis deck without reservation. But I should qualify that mana base is pretty pricey so that is a factor.
@@jakeapplegate6642 wooosh 😂

Love this show! Keep up the good job guys.
Yargle is the most versatile obviously. He sways in no direction
Tomato Jeff he is the definition of a blank slate lol
He ribbit. He croak. He SMACK. Whatever suits your fancy.

he actually strongly encourages high power payoffs
Challenge the stats is always great and it's great to hear the reasoning behind the cards being selected
The graveyard hate trolling was amazing!
Great episode guys love the team work you guys share. Stay Pawzitive and safe
These openings are consistently bangers
Outstanding in my field had me in stitches
Great work Matt!
I must have rewatched that graveyard hate plug over ten times still on the floor laughing!
This is my first episode for your channel. I hope to stay for more!
Chulane has 23 themes on his page and i managed to build a deck with a 24th theme :D Achievement unlocked :D
@Edmond Dantes I have built Chulane Mutate, as the interaction with bouncing (and the huge amounts of mana Chulane can get) can be really funny. Sprinkle im some synergy with Mutate and some copy creatures like clever impersonator and Spark Double and you are good to go.
Most surprising thing on this episode: group hug is a common theme in Narset? Never would have guessed that

Loved the sponsor shout out haha.
I've built jodah chaos, adeliz wizards tribal, yorvo ramp, syr gwyn artifacts, and anje falkenrath madness thanks to edhrec decklists
Joey, as an aristocrat myself, I fully understand the grave hate. I keep every Leyline of the Void I get my hands on.

I actually have a copy of Snake Cult Initiation lying around....
Welcome Snake Cult Intiates!

Cool idea for a deep data dive.
Are all the themes spread evenly? Because some of these smell like 90% one theme, and then that last 10% spread between the rest of them
I love Dana and the graveyard hate.

Morophon can also be a coward tribal!
How dare you to forget the coward tribal for the List! it's gonna be legen wait for it dary! xD
I don’t think it’s surprising that the most versatile was almost always the commander that provided the best card advantage in the color combination
Woooo, Kenny got a mention XD
Did I miss the 4 color commanders?
I heard GAAIV make the table hate you deck that's my favorite deck ever!
The card kingdom / tcgplayer shout out had me dying hahaha

2:15 Ahah xD Poor Joe's graveyard
Arcades has one thing he really wants to do. Makes sense he doesn’t have a lot of variety. Chulane is just generically good.
Purphoros life gain, that’s definitely a thing....
Did we miss esper?
Can we talk more about Atraxa? Please? :)
No
I am the ewe in flawless manewever
I wish there are more versatile decks, but I would prefer them not as boring as Chulane.

Marchesa is an Italian word. It's the female counterpart of Marquis. It has a 'hard c' - Mar-KAY-za
Muldrotha is best girl of all

i am tempted to say your methodology is rather flawed. yes mophoron has the most amount of themes but it all comes down to "tribal".
