We loved 1770! Definitely on our list of places to visit again. It was our first time using the SUP - many, many laughs later and I still couldn’t stand up!! The wife nailed it though.
Hi bec Ill give you a additional (UK) tip to your tuna past bake. Crush a big bag of sea salt chips on the top then put cheese on. 🧀 You'll all love it. I did here for friends a great crispy cruntchy texture on the top.. The kids will love it.
Oh, and a tip for you Justin, when throwing the pots in, sling the float and rope high up in the mangroves. Not only does this allow you easy access when pulling your pots but also prevents your ropes and floats from getting caught up in the mangrove roots at low tide. Easy to lose a pot due to float and rope being snagged and submerged around the mangrove roots. A gaf is handy to hook up the rope. Cheers mate
Ok Bec, i think every mum does tuna bake... Rocks our world. I often use rice instead of pasta. Just put cooked rice in bottom of the dish, mux tura and sauce, chuck on too, bread crumbs, then cheese. Bang in the oven. Kids love it.
Thank you so much for this. I visited up there will check out the dive centres my company owned 7 years ago. Now it's -8c here in the UK and I'm dying to get back to that beautiful country.
Great vid, we used to hole up there at 1770 when i was working trawlers out of Bundy back round 82- or 83 the ppl camping would come out n buy some prawns crab or bugs, or swap em for a slab back then..........Cheers Oz in Canada
Hi Bec & Justin, As always great video, its like I'm on holiday just watching you guys, good luck with with the next 1770 camp and hope you get a good size crab, looking forwards to the next video, TFS, Cheers Anna.
Totally agree with the fact that if you have a need to use a caravan park that bouncy castles , swimming pools and playgrounds are not wanted as usually there is so many other things to do . Love the tuna bake , so easy and Bec , stick to your guns and don’t empty they toilet , boys job . My husband uses gloves to empty the cassette so no contamination . Love 1770 although haven’t been there for many years . Looking forward to your further travels as we love following where you go and what you do . Love Becs top tips !!!!!!!! Cheers Fleur and Peter .
Brings back memories from when i was a kid in Australia - I watched this episode at JFK airport in NY heading home to London… thanks for bringing back my memories!
Definitely agree with Bec, Justin you are so good at the dump point co-ordination and we’ll Bec is all I’ve that tuna bake 😉 Awesome episode guys, 1770 is just up the road from us and it’s the perfect spot some off grid & offroad living 👌🏼
Cracking episode, some great NP camps around that area too, unfortunately some have been overfished due to TV exposure, looking forward to more shed sessions
Great vid as always... greetings from Brissie... am a solo female, so have to empty the dunny; have no choice. A fabulous Christmas to you, Bec and the kids. On the road again early next year, so may one day catch you in our travels. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
This is one of the best spots ever. We drove into the park late afternoon, after being told by other caravan parks that we would not get a site in this area for love or money. Only minutes before we enquired, they had a last-minute cancellation. How lucky were we.
Hey Guys, Great video. Hint for skinning flathead. Slice the fillet down the middle (not through the skin) where the rib cage finishes, lay the skin flat and you get 2 perfect skinned fillets off em.
Hot 🔥 tip mate the tag goes on the crab 🦀 pot itself. Then you write on the float. . Its done that way in case float is cut/ propped from the crab pot. FyI
Hot tip for ya Justin, I’m just learning this crabbing gig as well but I found flattie frames get average results but I kill it with buying a whole woolies chook for 4 bucks, knock it in half to do 2 pots and they’ll last you for a number of soaks. Happy days 🦀 👍🍻
Great vid people. With your crab pots Jason I think you'll find 2 zip ties per plastic name tag . Zip tie the name tag with your id to the inside of the pot so it is still legible when looking down at the pot. Then put your name/ ph number on the float. You have to have the pot identified with the plastic tag and also have your name on the float separate from the pot. Better luck next time with crabs. I usually prefer putting my pots in on half tide at the point where the drains come out into the deeper parts of the creek or out on the flats during neap tides. Good luck.
Great video, love the drones views of 1770, looks fantastic. Flathead is my favourite fish to catch and eat, so pleased you were successful. Thanks for the comp for the bike, 🤞. Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year and good luck for next crabbing session. Cheers Sharon
haha, that last bit. awesome epp guys, already ordered 2 laundry hanger thingys. Love your work, might have to get missus to watch the knives section to plant the seed for chrissy . Safe travels.
We've just finished a 5 month trip and stopped into 1770 in September on our way back down. Absolutely beautiful little town, will definitely be back one day. We're now at my parents place waiting for baby #3, then once we feel ready we will hit the road again. Hubby and both kids have electric bikes so I think it's time for Mumma to get one once bub is out... and the chubbie looks pretty good to me. Thanks for another great episode guys. ✌️🌞🧡
Another great ep guys. We get our first caravan in about 2 weeks and the 'i am never going to empty the cassette' discussions have already started. My reply was along the lines of 'if you dump, you dump' simples. Will see what happens I guess :)
Had to laugh to myself when you mentioned putting your phone number on the crab pots so people can let you know they have found them if lost. Every time ive had crab pots disapear, no one has bothered to ring and say thanks for the pots and tne nice feed of crabs 🤣🤣🤣. Still, another great episode and once again a other place to put on my "must visit list". Cheers to you all and stay safe.....Pete
I love this shit !!! you guys are awesome to watch and a great pick me up and i have a lot of down moments lately !!! Nothin like a good TIAV fix ... you guys rock !!!
So nice up in 1770, nice work. Well done on the Flatty too. I feel your sentiments about emptying the portaloo, absolutely rank, but has to be done….by me…and never my wife 😅😩
You guys inspired us to go on a road trip a couple years back and we met you at an Airlie Beach playground....that was cool. We then went south to this spot, was one of my favourites. I can say I got my big flattie as well.
Love 1770 we used to go there yearly till last bub was due right around our trip dates and sadly we lost our spot after that…… we had the same with our pots a couple of years but other years the crabs were amazing had soooo many.
@@TripInAVan looking forward to your next cooking crab. Hope u come up with new recipes but you can simply enjoy by put it on the charcoal/woodfire n dip with sea salt, lime n pepper 😋
Hey Justin I feel your pain on being the only one to empty the dunny. My misso won't do it either. We camped literally right across the lane from your site last time we were there and your not the only that didn't catch crabs mate . Keep up the great work. Love watching you guys on a Sunday morning in bed with a coffee.
Another great video guys, thanks for sharing. You've probably done this a dozen times but can you tell us a bit about the little boat, it looks perfect for the job around estuaries. Congratulations on the Flatty haul, they look delicious. Bec don't do it, bugger it, let the old man empty the lou, it's his job, someone called it a blue glove job but I don't see Justin using any gloves.
Hi guys, like your shed sessions! Maybe you would like to talk about main components of your fishing gear and what you would suggest as a starting package for beginners 😉 Cheers mates and happy christmas days
Hey Justin! If you want that dream sized dusky flathead next time you hit 1770… let me send you some of my Soft Glides. They’re the big flathead lure you’re after. They’ll get it done for you mate. Take a look at the giants from my recent episodes. I’d bloody love to see you haul a monster in on one. Great episode mate. All the best, John from the Gold Coast.
Better way to skin ya flattys run ya knife between the two fins so you have one fin left on ya fillet which will leave a pocket to put ya thumb in so you can pull skin off. Hope this helps with skinning them. Great episode love 1770.
Great video. I'm totally with you Bec about getting a few days of having washed hair! 😁👍
Love your eternal energy. You guys are so friendly and honest. Keep it up!
Thank you! Will do!
Bec, Justin, Jack, Billy and Charli thanks for the video 👍👍👍
You’re so welcome mate.
We loved 1770! Definitely on our list of places to visit again. It was our first time using the SUP - many, many laughs later and I still couldn’t stand up!! The wife nailed it though.
perfect place for a SUP in the creek there
Hey mate great ep great spot. Good to see the tinny. Was a bit worried when u put the roof top on. Love it when u throw a bit of fishing in the mix👊🎣

Hi bec
Ill give you a additional (UK) tip to your tuna past bake.
Crush a big bag of sea salt chips on the top then put cheese on. 🧀 You'll all love it. I did here for friends a great crispy cruntchy texture on the top..

And always use the gaf in croc country
Ok Bec, i think every mum does tuna bake... Rocks our world. I often use rice instead of pasta. Just put cooked rice in bottom of the dish, mux tura and sauce, chuck on too, bread crumbs, then cheese. Bang in the oven. Kids love it.

Love a good knife! My husband built a forge so I’m pretty spoilt. I show him something I like and he makes it for me!
Totally agree with the fact that if you have a need to use a caravan park that bouncy castles , swimming pools and playgrounds are not wanted as usually there is so many other things to do . I like it, that’s a great tip
Great vid guys 👍
We share the driving, 50/50 so 50/50 dumping. Now we’ve swapped out our toilet for a Natures Head so it lasts longer before emptying!
Hot 🔥 tip mate the tag goes on the crab 🦀 pot itself. Then you write on the float. . Its done that way in case float is cut/ propped from the crab pot. FyI
Yes Becs hot tips are great !! Keep them coming 😊

Emptying the 'devils esky' is essentially a 'BLUE job' for most vanner's 😂❌️😂
Great episode. Love 1770. We have a property 30min from there. Need to try Baffle Creek for some muddies.
Keen to hit Baffle
Baffle is great. We got 5 bucks, though we're undersized yesterday in an hour. Hubby out there now checking our pots. Beautiful water way
@@reneehamilton1472 nice
I love 1770! QLD rec fishing app may come in handy for you to check bag and size limits. It works offline I think
great tip thankyou
I love the beach at 1770
It’s unreal
Beautiful family, what a nice episode mate love it. All the wat support mate yeeeeew
Bec, you can use a potato peeler for cheese if you don’t have a grater!! 😊
best tip ever!!!
Hey guys,
What do you use to hold your hats in the back of the cruiser?
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Just 100lb mono fishing leader tied between the handles 👍

Great Ep!! Justin I must say I think that home Gym is working. I swear those Guns have grown 😂👌🏻💪🏼
Justin can you do a segment on equip needed and used, and the "how to" catch, and fillet fish such as flathead
Never mind, i jumped the gun with my question. Just watched you do the fish haha.
I’d love to mate. I’ll try and add it into a future vid

Great ep. Loved it. 1770 water looked amazing from the drone. Sooo need those knives… Chubbie bike under the tree would be good too 🤙🏼
Thanks heaps mate
Better way to skin ya flattys run ya knife between the two fins so you have one fin left on ya fillet which will leave a pocket to put ya thumb in so you can pull skin off. Hope this helps with skinning them. Great episode love 1770.
Yeah i'm keen as to try this method, thanks mate
