Just joined the DCA and picking up a Drascombe cruiser next week because of video.s such as this. Peace, scenery and hassle free sailing. Fair winds and calm sea's to you all.
Thanks for the comment regarding the New Zealan's new boat. This Lugger, reminds me of my time on the Isle of Mull Scotland. Sailed a Lugger from Ulva Ferry, out to Staffa, then back round the North end of Ulva. Brillient boat indeed. And those huge Atlantic swells. Wonderfull.
I'm nearly finished restoring a 1972 Lugger. I know the East coast rivers well and am looking forward to sailing there. Need to sort a tent and probably platform too! I loved the quiet video.
Looking at a drascombe dabber now, for just going up and down the Deben with the wife and 3 young children. You would recommend it? We just want them to get used to sailing before we up the boat size and distance.
I would say absolutely perfect choice. They are very adapt for sail, motoring or even rowing. I have a Westerly now but not been able to part with the Dabber yet as I love it so much!
@@simonm9503 If your near the Deben there’s one just popped up here posted a short while ago. They will all be glass fibre as no wooden ones built. Also try a look on the Drascombe Association site. Good luck. th-cam.com/video/-wRp4x45nDY/w-d-xo.html
@@DaveandGinny972 Thank you. It looks so neat. I used to have a Lugger on the Deben. I sold it because of the slot rudder design which is a real pain. I am now thinking about a Dabber as a result. Can you sleep either side of the centreboard case?
@@tuisitala9068 I slept beside the centreboard case last year and found it ok. I’m 5’8” and 13 stone. I can get upper body towards the stern for more room. I believe the Dabber has a little more room that the Luger in that area. Many do prefer to make up a platform above the centreboard case though.
@@jlewdav Sorry for not replying sooner but have only just noticed your question. I basically just cut out the sown in bottom of the tent, then used elastic cord to secure it to the boat. Hope that helps.

I really miss my old Lugger!
Wonderful video, thank you for the scenery and atmosphere. 👍
Many thanks for your lovely comment.
That was a lovely little video and a smashing boat. Thanks.

Glad you could get a trip round the coast, especially under the circumstances, keep living the dream
A wonderful video, I really enjoyed that 👍
Many thanks Gary 👍

Nice video, mate. Lovely locations and beautiful boat.
Lovely video. Many thanks.
Interesting. I have never seen a lug sail used with a jib before....let alone one used with mast stays.
Nice fee days out. 👍👍🇦🇺
Fabulous!
Enjoyable
Great video!
Fantastic

I like the tent. Is it specially made for the Dabber?
It’s a basic two man tent which I modified. Comes from Halfords a UK store for less than £20.

Good Morning. Thanks for the enjoyable video. You describe modifying the tent that you use on the Dabber. How did you modify it?
