We have a strong commitment to responsible sourcing, use and disposal of materials. We closely follow the development of recycling technologies and participate in several projects where electric vehicle (EV) batteries, reaching their operational capacity limit, can be transferred to other applications such as storage in solar energy systems.
Batteries represent a substantial value and when capacity has dropped below usability, there are several options. Re-use in residential or industrial energy storage is expected to be a major application.
What is the range of Volvo fmx electric.
The number of batteries and their useable energy will be flexible and adapted to the customers operation allowing a range up to 300 km. We have advanced simulation tools that are based on several years of electric vehicles used in commercial traffic. The driving range depends on the number of batteries the trucks have and on a series of external parameters, such as the driving cycle (many stop and go), if the truck has a superstructure which also demands electricity from the batteries, topography, temperatures etc. The truck´s battery packages are specified according to customers need.

Electromobility will play an important role for local as well as regional transport and the development of batteries and charging infrastructure will be important factors in its expansion. However, there is no one silver bullet solution available to cut carbon emissions. We will see a gradual introduction of alternative drivelines including battery driven trucks and gas driven trucks over the next couple of years. Electromobility using hydrogen fuel cells has the potential to reduce the need for batteries in heavy long-haul transport in the longer term.
