It's the way in which they've marketed this, that makes it dead on arrival for me. Calling it a Quad A game, and charging so much for it, is just passing off their mistakes onto the consumer. If they'd said "Yeah so we wanted to cancel this but our contract wouldn't let us. So here's something we made, that had no direction and any passion for it died off pretty early. It's $20, enjoy!", they would probably be in a far better spot.
I do very much understand why, the trolling would be off the charts like crazy. The idea of an open pvp zone feels like a really good idea, hopefully they go forward with it!
Its clearly not worth its price - i've played it for a week now (Beta + Early Access through Ubisoft+) and can say: its unfinished, missing critical balancing (PvP) and overall lack of diverse content. 1. Endgame is collecting Coins from your cities. 2. You capture cities and hope your enemys didnt bring friends, that heal them from outside the combat area. 3. Grind more coins. Plus side: beautiful grafics and great soundtrack. Immersion when sailing through a storm: 120% It needs 6 months of intense developing, fixing bugs, balancing and more than anything else ... more ships.
I've been hooked on this game since the Open Beta. Yes, there are some things I wish were done better but overall, it's been a blast. It's gets a lot more fun when you play with friends or group up with randoms for boss fights. Already made a few new friends with randoms and we had a lot of fun blasting everything. The ship combat is very fun, especially after you get really good weapons and do a build to help make your weapons even stronger and more effective. The Ghost ship fight really blew my mind! And the rewards from it from farming it was worth it, making your ship look like the Ghost ship itself at night with the glows. Gets me very excited for the boss fights coming with each season!
@@TheDanNation maybe a bit aggressive but after messing in the beta its LITERALLY the mobile game World of Tanks but on the ocean. When you spend 10 years and make a free mobile game then try to charge 70$ for it claiming "its a AAAA game" is a joke. I at one point was hyped for this and hoping, but NOW i'll wait for it to hit The Division or The Division 2 level of sales of 90% off.
@@MCG55SS I'm gonna disagree with the World of Tanks comparison, I feel like there's a good bit more depth here, but I respect where you're coming from bigtime on this. It's not gonna be a good fit for a lot of folks, nothing wrong with waiting on a sale.
@@TheDanNation i understand but i just find it crazy when Sid Meier's: Pirates! has more gameplay and depth in it than this game does, At least in Pirates! you had sword fighting, you had a land mini game when you wanted to take a city and you had sea to sea combat which you could take over a ship and add it to your fleet, not to mention you had to keep your crew happy or face mutiny, you had a stealth aspect in sneaking into hostile cities so on. This is a game in 2004 vs a game in 2024 it should not be this much content missing but honestly i think Ubisoft knew this game was in their eyes bad which is why the were almost begging for a buyer last year.
@@MCG55SS I get where you're coming from on this, last time I streamed Skull n Bones more than a few folks came in mentioning Sid Meyers PIRATES!, and I respect the dedication to a classic title.

The AAAA comments from Ubisofts CEO are absolutely insane for sure, we had a really good laugh over it when I was streaming this the other week.
I've heard they plan on patching in an open area for pvp. Pvp is the best part of the game, I don't know why they decided to limit it.

Sea of thieves has that option.

Strong agree on all fronts!
Game is so bad its barely worth 20$ for a month of ubisoft plus to play it
Seems a bit aggressive but okay

Nope. I'll wait a bit for it to come to PlayStation Plus, or gets reduced to $19.99 This game Diablo IV'd itself in less than a week. LOL
That's fair
