I think this a great in terms of showing off Reason as a genuine DAW, especially as it can seem that Reason Studios aren't exactly giving much time and focus to the stand alone product. However, it does highlight some of the frustrations of working with it, which have been voiced by many in the community for ages. Editing, navigation and organisation is a still a pain (still no folder tracks ffs) and the limitations of the piano roll compared to other DAWs is now stark. The positives show how flexible the routing is, how easy it was to create automation, busses & parallel chains and Maelstrom, even to this day, sounds chunky as ever. Perhaps the Gentleman's Club could have used a few more stock devices (I think they used only two) but I appreciate ten minutes each is no time at all! A video like this whets my appetite to jump back into Reason stand alone, but I also know the many missing features will send me back to Cubase 12 and just use the Reason Rack. Hence, I suppose it's a bit like the chicken and the egg. Reason Studios seem to be driving the Rack as their primary focus, so less input into the standalone fulfils where they seem to be directing their users (both old and new). I'd be overjoyed if the next 'point five' update simply improved the standalone, but I really don't see it happening unfortunately.
Organisation is quiet easy... navigation also... the only frustrating thing is missing midi implementation since version 2.5... the is no way to work with more than one controller
@@F-Andre As a long time user of Reason, since 2003 in fact, I have to respectfully disagree (especially comparing RS to other DAWS). Without going on a diatribe about the issues I see, the main thing for me is the lack of folder tracks which, when working with a large project, are absolutely essential.
Thats for the input (and watching) Chris. We hear you. Continuing to make Reason better (both the plugin and DAW) is absolutely on our agenda, no doubt about that. Make sure you're following our blog to read updates on our roadmap from the product team. reasonstudios.com/blog/
Very cool video idea, and Gentlemens Club really showing what there all about. I hope to see more from these guys, definitely more interesting challenges they could do. Keep it coming.
This was a great video and introduction to the series, thank you for starting this Ambassador Program! While it was great seeing a condensed edit of a beat challenge, I am hoping in the future there will be full videos that have more of an in depth focus on workflow and creative intention. I think they did a great job given the limited time constraints and it was very interesting to see 3 different workflows on one piece of music. After watching this I agree that it showcased most of reason's best features and ease of workflow, however the main issue (and I think it is relatively safe to say this is an issue for all DAWs) is finding the desired sounds searching through the browser and folders quickly. It would be great to see all of the keyboard commands being used etc in subtitles.. also have a given producer/ambassador take a moment to explain their intention/vision for creating a track before starting, and then reflect on how close they came to achieving that afterwards. Maybe some of the challenges should be made only using samples/devices that come with reason and others where each sound has to start with the initial patch for a device to also shed some light on sound designing. Restrictions and limitations can force new methods of creativity, it might also be interesting to give every ambassador the same template that they must use for their song, or have each ambassador do each type of 'challenge' - there are endless options... Thank you for starting this series, I am excited to see where it goes and will be checking out each episode! I think the intro piece the week prior was also a great lead up (even though I watched them both today) to get familiar with the producers and their sound/style/scene.
Highly respects for you guys from Russia! It`s amazing how you do such the thing as the banger in a 30 minutes in style! This is now my favourite video for my inspiration over my own works! I have hours for 4/4s. But now you gave me a kick for the wider vision! Thank you guys! Your`re amazing! Keep going! And good luck!
I'd love this to have subtitles on it. But not for the dialogue - for the keyboard shortcuts that these guys are using. They really speed up the workflow!
I miss reason...it was my first real daw and taught me pretty much everything but I’ve since shifted to ableton but I miss the inspiration reason gave me. I’ll grab it someday. Good stuff y’all
You can load any old version of Reason into Abalten using Rewire as a plugin or you can load Reason 11 or 12 into Abalten as a plugin your choice but it's not that difficult to get Reasons Rack into Abalten.
Hi Reason Studios, my reason 12 has been choppy with any kind of action upon opening software. Nothing like this has happened before, and has been smooth for a long time, any idea why its like this? I haven t made any hardware or software upgrades either on my PC
Grain? Nope. Europa? Nope. Parsec? Thor? Mimic? Players? Nope. Substractor and Maelstrom and dragging clips Into the sequencer 😂 they could've done this in Reason 2 lmao. Good track though.
The Reason Sequencer (DAW editing and piano roll) needs a lot of work. That's reason's weakest link I think. If they made it half as decent as FL Studio or Ableton life would be better.
Now THIS was a challenge...
We think you smashed it! 😘
Well, now that the challenge is over, I would love to see you spend some REAL time on this song and make it what you really want!!!!!
so fuggin cool yo. stay humble and funny. i'm dancin!
@@ReasonStudios i like the desk do you know what desk that is
More of these please 👍🧡
Roger that!
@@ReasonStudios Nice to see this. Thanks !
Are you crazy?? This is amazing! Respect Gentleman's Club and Reason Studios.
I love how each of them is just turning the kick up a bit more haha
This would make an amazing series to run, and no doubt will spawn copycat versions in the best way possible!
They probably have a series of videos comming from The Gentlemans Club probably a another two minimum.
Unbelievable never in my wildest dream this would happen on the reason TH-cam channel:
A gentlemans club collaboration with reason
I had a dream that one day Reason will be in VR 😋🙏
We love being part of your dreams 🤩
Reason 3D?
Last dude wore his puffer jacket while rocking the challenge without breaking a sweat.
Guess man's not hot.

Literally every one of My dark bass sounds is 4 Melstrum and scream 4 in a Combinator or a cupple Thors.
@@ReasonStudios Reasons a great DAW however you have alot of competition.

Nice sound ! nice video ! The 3rd Gentleman is programing with a sleeping bag on, even more challenging !
Pretty dang impressive for 30 mins at 10 per lad! 🙌
You can also really see how their 3 styles come together to make an awesome conglomeration!! 🔥

Ryan needs to do a beat cheat sheet on tech house drums.
