    Djent is a term coined by a guitarist from the band Meshuggah for the sound a certain technique tends to make. The joke is that people have been starting to refer to it as a genre for some years now, much to the chagrin of some haha.
    Periphery are a super album oriented band tho, with themes and stories and callbacks so it's really worth it to sit down and listen to an entire album before jumping too far all over the place. Juggernaut Alpha/Omega are amazing for this, because the final song Stranger Things is like a finale to a movie series, with familiar characteristics of other songs from the album making appearances to come together as a grand ending.
    If you care less about continuity though, Erised, Garden in the Bones, The Scourge, The Way the News Goes... This band doesn't miss tbh you can't go wrong.

      Djent is a technique of guitar tuning and a playstyle. Periphery didn't invent it but they sure did make it theirs. imo it's a tongue-in-cheek reference to them being called Djent all the time when they're progressive metal

      Also, a time limit on a song? I don't know if I have one, as long as it keeps me engaged and isn't like 4 hours I'm probably down for it. I was a big fan of dragonforce back in the day and all their songs used to be way longer than 6 minutes each lol. Oceans of Slumber has several 10 minute long songs that are amazing. Gojira's Flying Whales is over 7 minutes and it's their biggest song too

    You said something about expecting them being more heavy, well, if you're interested in their heavier side, you should definitely check out blood eagle and the bad thing

    She t is simply referring to the sound made by low tuned palm muted chugs in a rhythmical pattern. And their best song according to many is Reptile off P4 and it’s 16 minutes.

    • @DaddyGoose_CB
      @DaddyGoose_CB  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      16 min song?? I have a feeling that will not be a double reaction upload haha Thanks for the Support and suggestion!

    If you would listen to Zagreus and the next song on the album, Dracul Gras, the outro feels appropriate. Its also why many Pink Floyd songs have awkward endings, its a song in the context of the previous and the next. These guys don't chase easy listening, they rather have you listen time and time again and appreciate all the details and nuance.

    Periphery has an insane discography. P1 is my personal favorite and it’s also probably their heaviest, but their magnum opus has to be P2. Literally every song off of that album is amazing. I’d recommend Zyglrox off of P1 for a face melter or Ragnarok off of P2 for some of Spencer Sotelo’s best vocal performance. Wax wings off of their new album is also an absolutely beautiful song. You can’t go wrong with these guys.

    • @onedoomeyboi5870
      @onedoomeyboi5870 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I’d also listen to Reptile at some point too. It’s 16 minutes long but it’s easily one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in my life. It’s an absolute insane journey.

    You ever check out Meshuggah? If you like Periphery’s heavy riffs, there’s a huge chance you’ll love them. ObZen and Dancers to a Discordant System are just unreal tracks, incredible drumming and riffs.

    Reptile by periphery is like 16 minutes or something, and i love the whole thing. P4 isn't very narrative driven, but they make it with the messianic storytelling of that song.
    Also they do have a few 10/10 songs for sure. The Bad Thing is one of the best songs ever written, imo. I don't want to overhype it, but it's just great.

    Of course. you picked one of worst songs on P5 in Zagreus...and Alpha might be one of Periphery's worst/most basic songs period...and its stilla good song.
    Dracul Gras, Reptile, Satellites, Racecar, Luck As A Constant, Absolomb...and many more are 10s
