You know this dude really shows greatness in his character. Yes he's retired but he's trying to interact with the younger generation and new comers to the sport teaching them how to not make the same mistakes he did.
That truly is something that is awesome in legends.

As a fellow introvert, I completely understand why Mat is reluctant to share what he had to go through and overcome.
But after hearing all of it, there's more power and appreciation from that than being a five time champion. He should share it more often.

  • @harryisamuggle

Fraser has been there and crushed it. Do you know how many of us either be in corporate sector or otherwise wish we could semi retire in our 30s as a winner. And he is not even retired, he's changed directions. Rich and Fraser won't be tempted by clowns, they are and should be fully content with what they have achieved. Few people in life are able to do that.

    • @PhilUpMyCup23

Could definitely counter that although their achievements are looked upon as one of the greatest feats in fitness, it’s all perspective on what winning is! I know corporate “retirees” in their mid 30s now working on personal projects and they say that not only do they have time for what they want out of life, but also find themselves not wanting the material stuff. Some would say it’s the new modern American dream haha

I love this. thank you so much I am struggling to try and get back into a more fit lifestyle after a long time. I had back surgery 5 yrs ago and have had limited mobility and at 350 lbs i was way out of shape to even try. my dad just passed away from a sudden stroke and it made me realise i'm going to be right behind him if i dont change. I am now trying to stumble through a functional strength and fitness program. Your videos and this story gives me motivation to think something more is possible. Thank you God bless

So the thing that has always impressed me about Mat is his communication skillset. I _hate_ connectives. 'Uh'. 'You know'. 'I mean'. 'Like'. All that dreck. (It's not just the scourge of the everyday conversations; I see it in media _all the friggin' time_ everywhere.) Mat's use of them is exceedingly rare. (Mostly on podcasts.) I'm wondering what kind of impact his parents had on him in this regard.

@@puimuri166 And, like, I mean, as the interview continues, uh. he essentially doesn't. So, I mean, once he settles into his default patterns, he like, doesn't speak like a modern asshat. Some people have this as an addiction. In the same way 'Valley Girls' from decades past got caught up in their own bad habits. I mean, like, uh, that's what's so obvious to me. Ya know?

Mat, I don’t know what Crossfit would be without you, if you didn’t mentally think you could surpass the injury, because obviously you would eventually physically recover. I appreciate my existence even more, having the opportunity to live my youth having seen your evolution of A to Z. I discovered you in 2016, on a Netflix documentary about the Crossfit Games. I was drawn to you, of course, but I found out about a sport I’ve never seen or heard of before too. Ever since, you’ve been a seed in me. There is no denying the impact you’ve made all around the world. I don’t think I would be the same person I am right now, at this age. I’m glad. I’m alive. I’m glad I’m alive. You’re an undying aura for me, and everyone else. I would not be as fitness-driven as I am today, if it weren’t for you. You were meant to do all the things you did, and experience everything that came with it because it all adds up. Circumstances aren’t random. Every person that got and gets to know of you is not the same after. Crossfit and Fraser are synonymous. You have truly contributed to the whole. I think an outsider, a fan, a spectator can see your bigger butterfly effect, than you yourself. It’s been so awesome to have seen your competitive nature, and competitive successes!! I’m proud of you. I’m happy for you. Cheers for your current & future fulfillment. Cheers for your current & future abundance. CHEERS!! ✨ Love from Austin, Tx!! 🤘🏼
