The fact that when he was first discovered and was signed to a recording contract and management who basically had him touring in Asia with very little exposure or proformances in the US didn’t help him get established before he hit puberty and the changes in his voice and they dropped him as many record labels do when their little star starts sounding differently. Personally I am thrilled to see him back writing his own music and being who he really is and not being the persona they created. He was smart to leave LA and go back to his roots and family in Oklahoma. Where he reconnected with family and friends and went to college so that he would have more options for his future and to just have the experiences that go along with being away at college and figuring out who he is and finding his passion for music again. In this day and age I doubt that him coming out as gay would hurt his musical career because more and more artists are being more open about their sexuality. I have seen a number of comments where they think it will make it more difficult for him. Something those who made the comments aren’t taking into consideration is that even 20-30+ years ago it was still taboo to talk openly about your sexuality other than in private with only trust family and friends and sometimes not even with them. Elton John, Boy George, and George Michael are just a few of the successful people who later came out as gay when society was more open and accepting and weren’t as judgmental of others sexuality. Everyone knew that they were gay it just wasn’t something they talked about. Before the 1990s people rarely discussed their sexuality even in their families. My Mom’s youngest sister is gay and it was never talked about and her partner was called her companion because in society up until the 80s single women didn’t usually live or travel alone in certain socioeconomic levels especially if the parents were well to do. She lost her partner to brain cancer when I was still in Elementary school and she has been with her wife for almost 30 years. To the day my mother died she didn’t know that her sister was gay even though they had built a gorgeous house together and did pretty much everything together and that’s because they kept up the appearance that they were just two spinster educators who shared a home where they had separate bedrooms. To this day she has never said anything that would tell you that she was gay and that could be because she comes from a very religious family who wouldn’t have a problem with it, but it isn’t something that any of them would openly talk about even within the immediate family.

It sucks that mainstream music promotes high tenor voices almost entirely. He has such a huge vocal range but the boldest most comfortable and best sounding part of his voice is in the lower range. Baritone and bass voices are SO underappreciated!!

She's one of the most important people in my life and I never would have even known she existed if it wasn't for Greyson. Back in autumn 2010, when we were 13, we met via social media because we were both obsessed with and posting non-stop about Greyson lmao. That turned into facebook conversations, turned into skype calls, turned into us flying across the ocean every few years to see each other. We're 21 now and we literally don't know how we would have gotten through our teenage years without each other. And we owe Greyson for that. Been a fan for eight years now and will be a fan forever. His journey in music has been a pleasure to watch and hear and I can't wait to see where he goes next. One of the most underrated artists in the industry today. Thanks for everything, Greyson.
