To add a few things: -This process will work for any vector file (or really really big PNG file) you want to turn into a receipt mural, not just a map! -Not all receipt printers are created equal, I got lucky that mine had a high resolution print head and the ability to print really long paper lengths. -The wood I used to stand the receipts off the wall was by far the most expensive part of this whole project, but it's by no means necessary, and you can always just hang the receipts straight to the wall. -Working with files this large can be a bit hit or miss depending on how much RAM and clock speed you have at your disposal. That being said, patience is key. -If you have any other questions, feel free to drop them below and I'll answer as many as I can!
This is awesome. it might actually be one of the most practical ways for a wall mural. I remember poking around with hiring a painter but that seemed too permanent (and expensive) :P
Thank you! Honestly the hardest part is finding/making a piece of digital art that will be able to cover such a large area, but considering how cheap and easy it is to print out the strips, you could always just make yourself a new mural every few months!
Best channel on youtube no doubt!!!
very underated channel
This is hella dope!

CVS would be proud
CVS is why receipt printers have a maximum print length
Modern day Michelangelo
Quite the compliment considering he's arguably the best Ninja Turtle
