    PTSD nightmares never fade. It's been 5 years now and I still have nightmares when I don't take my medicine before bed. Medicine meaning vaping Cannabis flower.

      I started smoking weed at 16, I’m now 24 and have given up. The nightmares I’m having wake me wake up feeling to cry, and ruin half of my day. I can’t remember how things were before I started smoking at 16 but I am really struggling with vivid nightmares now.

      I have them even with medicine. They are horrific and make me want death. That is how bad they are.

    Do not forget about the people coming out of domestic violent situations. They can have severe PTSD, C-PTSD and the nightmares and flashbacks along with Panic attacks.

    I lit up when he said "Daymare" I typically refer to flashbacks as "Daymares" because I started having them before I understood what it was.

    I wish they would do a study on CPTSD/ dissociation and having a child pass away. I have been diagnosed with PTSD prior to my son dying. When my little boy passed away he was 12, he suffered greatly. He was in so much pain and would scream for help and scream Mommy Mommy until his face was red in the hospital even though he was on a PCA of morphine, dilaudid and fentanyl continually throughout the day and night. It was horrific because all I could do is try to comfort him but its haunting to see and hear soo much pain for years, I would cuddle his face and kiss his cheeks but I couldn't hold him because even moving his bed or touching him would cause extreme pain and agony. Now since his death 2 years ago I get flashbacks not only from my prior trauma but now also of my son screaming in pain and the beeping of the machines in the hospital.I went to grief counseling and it helped with many aspects of my sons death but not the flashbacks..not the intrusive thoughts, even heavy duty meds..nothing stops it, they have lessened over time to a degree but it's hard because very unexpected things trigger it...

    Well, my nightmares can get crazy. My flashbacks were real events that my memory decides to revisit in detail and doesn't want to let go. I have to physically get up and do something physical. It has to be hands-on. Reading a book or watching a show will not break the cycle. Mine are 50+years old. Subconcious reactions to similar situations is ongoing until I catch myself over- reacting.

      Liddlenique 15 oh my goodness, forgot i watched this, and two years ago? I have been in a time warp. i have had nightmares since childhood. started getting flashbacks recently, different from before when i would just get images, now they are like watching a movie

    What about PTSD nightmares? I have such horribly violent nightmares that seems more real than reality. I see everything more vividly, smell everything clearer, taste, everything and I often wake up with the tastes and smells still in my nose and mouth. Usually blood, and it feels more like a memory than a nightmare and the effects can stay with me for days launching me into a deep depression. I also wake up with bruises, cuts, blood in my mouth, etc. I was given Diazepam to help me sleep but it is extremely addictive and almost all medications I've been given make it so I can't wake up from the nightmares. I wake up exhausted, sore, confused, depressed and they can go on for weeks. The only thing I have found that somewhat works is napping during the day which for some reason I rarely have nightmares and sleep very deeply, and, to minimize my stress as much as possible.

      Pablo Pescador No. After the hell I went through with Paxil and Zoloft, I refused to take any other medications. Over the years, I have created my own regimen of things that help minimize the nightmares and other effects of PTSD. I meditate, often sleep with calming music playing, try as much as possible to minimize stress in my life and practice Mindfulness. While sometimes I still have these types of nightmares, they are far, far fewer than before. I also occasionally use marijuana to help me sleep and relax me. I also suffer from chronic pain from a neck injury a few years ago. To be honest, it has been a life saver for me.

      Speaking of shrinks... I spent the better part of 5 years with a team of 3 and while in some aspects they helped (learning proper forms of communication, understanding my emotions) they did little to help me with the PTSD because they always wanted me to tell them about the past which is a massive trigger for my PTSD. I learned to just accept them as something I can't change and somehow were necessary for me to experience in order for me to be the person I am today. Whether your PTSD is from abuse or another trauma, remember that what others have done to you, is their burden to carry, not yours. Don't blame yourself. Everything in life happens for a reason, even though we can't see it. Learn from it, learn more about you, be conscious always of what you are thinking and feeling and try to avoid negativity in all forms because they will make the PTSD worse or bring you out of remission. Doing this helped me immensely with my anger ( I was extremely violent), and Mindfulness was the single most effective "treatment" I ever found.       Im sorry to hear your suffering, I take (sleeping pills)ambien. I had flashbacks during the night and would panic at night. Your suggestion helped. May take a nap my self. Take care.

      @@soniczforever5470 Ambien will destroy your memory and potentially create other issues like sleep-driving, sleep-walking. I wonder how many have tried/benefited from CBD oil.

    One thing I didn't agree with is that the nightmares tend to fade over time. It has been a year and a half since the trauma and I still have nightmares. Which is why I won't fall asleep without sleeping pills or pain meds that make me drowsy.

      Agree. Mine got worse. During my worst ones I would act out and usually end up on the floor.

    stumbbled upon these vids after work last night. Hope someone sees this but for me the flashbacks and nightmares are kinda the same. Im always afraid. The military arent the only ones that can be dangerious via flashbacks and nightmares, I have medical ptsd and come up swinging if awoken from either a flashback or a nightmare.
