@@ramblers69 Thanks Tom, that 62 is an awesome looking custom and will definitely keep it as the original builder intended when I restore it, just make it a tad nicer that's all. I got your Christmas card too this week buddy, honestly can't thank you enough, definitely put a smile on my face 🙂
You know. I’ve seen that imc beetle so many times for sale but I never knew about the gasser parts. How cool is that!! Some more excellent builders too. Hope you get some time back at the bench, my friend. That 4 door satellite is sweet!! That 62 Impala is a sweetheart. What a lovely old build. I do love those big old Chevys. Gold one is an absolute beauty as well. Really cool stuff as always. Thanks for sharing and take care John!!
@@kyledehartsscaleworks Hi Kyle, those old beetles are extremely cool kits, even if you could get one then complete drag chassis could fit under pretty much any other beetle body out there on the market so definitely worth it if you ever find one. I'm going to try get a project done for new year, feel I need to at this point as it's been so long so will just be choosing something simple. I have been more distracted as ever though working on the e38 and also bought a PS2 to play the old driver games, as if live wasn't busy enough 😂 thanks again Kyle and definitely have a catch up soon.
@ I’m going to pick one up for sure after seeing this. I know I’ll be able to grab one pretty easily. And Beetles are cool anyways. And as much as I love these videos of the builders and vintage goodies I’ll really be excited to see you get back to building, my friend.
Awesome! 62 chevy is very cool car, the 90's issue is premium realy nice kit. 59' and 60' pontiac's have been in my hunting list for a long time I have had this plan to build few nascar stock cars from those years and now I was looking at the kustom rama page pickuters of early 60's customs and I got spark.. Like I wasn't already in flames with these ideas😅. Thank you for sharing this video and take care buddy 😎👍🏻
@@askoseppanen3779 hi Asko, you're definitely right the 62 Chevies were really nice cars and very cool kits no matter if they were annuals or the newer kit. I know what you mean about kustomarama, my brain goes into overload with ideas on that site... They give great histories and facts on most too, that was my main go to reference for the mountain pearl and don't think I'd have got the job done without it. Hope you have a great Christmas anyways buddy and speak soon 🙂
@@thescalemodelcarguychannel8681 You're a star Shawn, we still have a long overdue video call as I was going to help you sort through them 😂 one day brother, one day ❤️
Enjoyed that mate, i picked up a nice craftsman '59 Chevy this week like yours, it just needs the paint stripping, possibly over the Christmas break i'm going to photograph a lot of my builder quality models, not to sell them but just to keep a record of them, anyway in among'st them i'm pretty sure i have a really clean '60 Edsel builder, as well as other treasures iv'e not seen in a while.
@@richardrickmason6456 Hi Rik, really glad you enjoyed the video mate 🙂 I saw the impala but I knew someone else who really wanted it so didn't bid... Amazing end price though, that was a real bargain and probably better than both of the ones I have put together. Sounds like you'll have great fun looking through all your stuff, I've really enjoyed it all and still have a load which I'll not do videos on just yet. The 60 Edsel is probably one of the nicest looking cars for that year in my opinion, always wanted one but mine as you would have seen in another video was completely destroyed. If yours needs bumpers or anything let me know as the parts from that kit were immaculate. Many thanks again Rik and hope you all have a great Christmas 🙂
Love the IMC Beetle, I’ve got the same plan to build one of each. I’m trying to think what mine cost new in about 1987, certainly wasn’t £28. Maybe £8.99? I hand painted it and got the doors hinged but ended up stealing all the drag parts to backdate a ‘57 Corvette gasser. Does look like there’s something kooky about the roof on that red ‘62 Impala, maybe it’s been slightly sunk into the body at the rear or somethings been reshaped. I’d keep the furry interior but then I’m weird 😂
@@CycolacFan I could be wrong with the beetle price but sure it was high twenties... It sat in there for about 10 years but the £48 starsky & hutch Torino will probably suffer the same shelf time.. highly reliant on tourist trade that place and not bought a kit from there since the 90s when they stopped getting in monogram/AMT stuff. Really great kit though, and always loved the box art. I think the impala roof is as it came, trim looks too tidy but who knows. I'm almost wondering if it's what went onto the Bonneville in 63, will have to have a better look one day. As for the hair, I think I'd keep it but certainly give a trim 😂
@J.B.Scale.Creations wouldn't be the first time a shop tried massive over pricing, there's people runnkng model shops in the UK who think £85 is fair for a truck kit 😢
@CycolacFan I know Mike, though I like the idea of keeping local hobby shops going, I don't think I'd ever pay 2-3 times more than I can get them elsewhere... None of the ones around here stocked anything decent for 20 years to fair so not really something I lose sleep over... Shame with so much nicer stuff being reissued now though I guess.
@@J.B.Scale.Creations it’s a vicious circle, limited market appeal and expensive to import so they put up the price which makes the appeal even more limited. I asked my local model shop to get in some AMT kits a few years back, they managed to get the ‘67 Impala. I bought it for, from memory, about £43 because I had asked them to try to get AMT in. I didn’t want it especially, I could have found it online cheaper, but since they’d made the effort I felt I ought to keep up my end. But it’s getting tougher now mail order is so much easier. Jadlams has cheaper prices for kits that are posted out than you can buy them in the shop! I went in for a £39 delivered kit that was £44 in store…
I'd rather watch these videos with the monogram, amt, and revell ect model car kits then those diecast cars. I buy assembled cars from eBay and fully rebuild them into hyper realistic looking cars.
Great vintage finds John, love the 62 Bel Air, 🎄👍🎁
