Just got mine about 3 weeks ago, got it in black and can honestly say one of the most comfiest and easiest bike to ride. Had a cb125f before and the Hornet it’s such an upgrade. Honestly if anyone wants one go for it!
@@davidecastellano1516 I have this bike in Thailand. The top end is around 150 km/h (around 90 mph). Here in Southeast Asia, roads/highways are not good (dangerous) for highspeed driving/riding. 6 speed manual, 47 HP, 17.1-liter tank, 190 kg with full tank of fuel.
Never a truer word spoken , who says you can’t have fun on a small capacity bike ! , I’ve had stupid power stuff all my life and usually 3 or 4 at once and normally do about 25k miles a year , I do use my bikes and I’m almost getting bored with power. As I class myself as a 60 year old teenager with Monkeybike’s , groms and benelli TNT’s , to have proper fun on , a hornet 500 would be a perfect halfway house and it’s a looker for the money , I’m tempted and it looks way better than the 750 🏍🏍👍👍
Just bought one (April 2024), exactly the one on this channel, in Thailand. It is nice. I used to ride Kawasaki Ninja ZX1000R, Harley 1200 Custom, Honda Forza 300cc scooter, and I prefer this as it is a balance between comfort and power. I feel the handlebar is a little wide for my arms at my 5'7" height; but it is not too bad. Biggest complaint I have is no storage space, unlike a scooter where you can store a lot under the flip-up seat.
My first real bike was a Honda XBR 500 single, it was down on power to this hornet but it still did it for me. Honda really can do a brilliant 500 bike, still love em.
Other than a new dash and improved headlight, it's basically a CB500F, which is a very good thing! Responsive, economic engine, huge 17L tank, great handling. What's not to like?
I love this kind of bike, I have had a Kawasaki z400 for 3years and still love it. Kawasaki have replaced it this year with a z500 which is pretty much the same bike, same power, weight, size, just a different dash and emissions ratings. I love the fact I can use all the power it has on a road. Great the hornet comes with Michelin road 6 fitted. I put them on my z400 and they transformed the handling. Small capacity bikes are great fun.
Thanks for the review and walk around. Nice to hear you have a cb125f, I have a cbf125 called thumper, so great comparison for me. Been looking for a few months now and looks like this could be the bike for me, had an old cb500 twin 95' and loved that bike. But this with the tft, road6 and new front end, twin discs, what is there not to love as a street bike, I'll be going to see your pal Ian once I've sorted my new mortgage out. Mr Fish thanks again for the review, ride safe Ritchi B
my CB500F (2022) is waiting patiently at my Honda dealer for me to pass my test Feb 9th. Can not wait to say a fond fairwell to my CB125F (2019) who has served my learning curve well but I am ready ;-)
I’ve always had a soft spot for the cb500, it was my first bike I think it was a S reg, (showing my age) 😂 had a few since. This Hornet looks like a good upgrade on the previous versions 🎉
Great review as always Mr. F. Really appreciated it! Took a demo bike out for a couple of hours and I loved it! Already have a 750 Hornet which is a great bike in many ways but the snatchy throttle and fuelling makes me nervous and I don't enjoy it much. Many say not a problem but sadly I'm one of the few that does. Thought I'd try the 500 Hornet and I'm really impressed. Light, smooth, real world performance is more that adequate, comfy, nice ergonomics and I think she looks good. Perhaps a better bike for me although many would say this is the wrong way round: start with the 500 and go onto the 750. Your observations tally with my own. She is great fun but I think very manageable and confidence inspiring.
I read somewhere that putting the hornet 750 in rain mode and change the engine breaking to low makes it a bit less snatchy. Sadly I can’t test ride a 750 yet or else I would have tested this myself!
For a first big bike, would you rather get the 750 Hornet or the 500 Hornet ? Bearing in mind you want to keep the bike for a minimum of 3 years? Do you think it's worth spalshing out another 1k to get a higher powered bike that you won't regret in the long run?
I am rather fond of the 500c class - back in the day that would be considered a big (ish) bike and would be an end goal for a lot of riders. I had a cb500x a while ago and liked it but the engine wasn't steller - peppy enough and all that but was ultimately the reason I sold it. If they made this unit in a 270 degree crank I reckon that would be really good. Thanks for the great vid!
Great bike looks great first bike? I had over 30 different bikes and am considering one? Cheaper road tax / insurance/ petrol, as I am older looking for smaller bike? Nice review!!
thought for a second that Honda had actually gone bonkers and made a sleeved-down version of the 750 complete with its 270-degree crank. Sad that it's the same 471cc engine as i learned on in 2015. USD forks are a surprising change for the better though! Wishing they'd gone for that headlight with the Hornet 750
If the bike chugs (lugs) at 2000 rpms and runs better at 2500 why wouldn't you run it at 2500? That's what I do with mine. Engineer father taught me that lugging is hard on engines. I do find your tests helpful; mostly because I'm a fellow big lump.
Pity it doesn’t have mudguards (or at least ones that actually do anything). I wonder if you can get a fender extender(as its sometimes called) for the front so that the radiator can be protected. The rear wheel doesn’t seem to have one at all!

Hi, I have seen your reviews on the 500 and 750 Hornets and I'm split on which one I would pick. There is not a massive price difference and they look very similar. Did you find the 500 entertaining enough to be fun or does the 750 win on that aspect hands down? The 750 also has a lot more technology (driving modes etc.) and power but the 500 looks better head on with a great looking headlight and gives much better mpg. I would appreciate your opinion, if you had to pick one, which one would you go for?? Thanks Mark
