I'm in the mood for love; a friend of mine and his sister sang this song when we were in high school 1962, it was great hearing it again, thanks Hollywood-The Golden Age, love watching all those old moves
I'm glad you like the Channel. I'm in the Mood for Love made its song debut in this movie. So you and your sis were singing a song that was 30 yrs old but that the beauty of a song that is a classic it can go on through the ages.
Frances Langford had a beautiful voice, and this was the first time,I have ever heard her sing! A very e entertaining movie, thank you,for sharing it! Nancy,MO.
I am not a fan of "musicals" but this film is worth watching for the cast, the staging, the numbers, and especially the absolutely great ensemble of everything coming together, especially given the historical context of the time. Just plain great, uplifting, heartening, and real. Thank you for archiving and sharing.
Every Night at Eight, was well known and prominent in its day. There were a few memorable songs from it that became standards, in particular sung by Frances Langford, as I remember. George Raft! Well, he'd been a dancer in the 20s on and off screen, in some places he'd be hoping we'd not know about, too. And look at George, showing a hint of the kind of dancing he did ten years before. And who is that stupendous black singer singing towards the end? An operatic tenor.
I sat 3 barstools down from Alice Faye. It was around noon & the bar/motel was outside of the Bohemian Grove. I was nursing a hangover & I realized who she was. We were the only ones in the bar, it was really quiet & I knew she was looking for her husband Phil Harris. I picked up her vibe & she was really down. I left her in peace. But, she was incredibly elegant & she must have been in her late 60 at the time. I was in my 20's. I knew exactly what her husband & his pals were "up to." He was an old man loud mouthed drunken hound. Sorry, he wasn't worth one sad day for Alice for all their years together.
I got here reading that the singer Carlos Gardel (whose voice was declared “Memory of the World” by UNESCO in 2003) was going to participate in the film singing, however his death on June 20, 1935 , did not make it possible. The film appears to be interesting. I will see Saludos from Argentina.
George Raft was best-known for gangster films, but he'll surprise you as a song-and-dance man. Having Alice Faye, Patsy Kelly and Frances Langford doesn't hurt. Released by Paramount, but produced by the great independent producer Walter Wanger, and not made on the Paramount lot. General Services Studios is now known as Sunset Las Palmas Studios, and is still operating in Hollywood.
I actually have a clip from another movie set to Moonwalking Music. I show it on his Facebook Group I have not put it up on his dance YT Channel yet. heck out his other dance channel or join the group. Here's the other Channel th-cam.com/channels/ChkoRKEV8E9Adj_jUng07g.html
Yes and he does it in other films, too....and...he does SPLITS....see this...fantastic! at :20 th-cam.com/video/xvh4v6pdc3I/w-d-xo.html And check this out, esp. at the very end ..and he wasn't young,either..but smooth as glass! th-cam.com/video/wTQXcc3QTcQ/w-d-xo.html
The three rogues were in Going to Hollywood 1933 . Did not know that Alice Fay worked for Paramount. She must have been loaned by Fox because she did a film for the century pictures before it became Fox in 1935. It looked like Paramount was trying to make Francis Langford the star.
Maybe at a later time. I actually started the Channel for George Rafts movies but kept the name open to other Hollywood Golden Age movies. Have you tried to see if it's already on TH-cam?
Insufferable microphone stint of 3 pros posing as amateurs (at a radio contest) goes on FAR far too long. Who wants to hear these dudes when it's handsome George Raft we're waiting to see! Alice Faye is radiant & Patsy Kelly always delivers the laughs.
ok what did folks have against Italians back then?..... bcuz the facts guys weren`t very interesting and the clucking lady - OH JEEZ where`s Jamie Farr when ya need him?!

Jam packed with music and talent. Even George Raft was more charming than usual. Delightful!

In '62, I was in 6th grade and we were dancing to Chubby Checker's, "The Twist", and I was in love with a beauty named Toni Gagnon!
Frances Langford had a beautiful voice, and this was the first time,I have ever heard her sing! A very e entertaining movie, thank you,for sharing it! Nancy,MO.
My pleasure to share it.
ALICE FAYE IS ABSOLUTELY ...BEAUTIFUL.......AND HER BLUESY VERSION OF ''I FEEL A SONG COMIN; ON '' IS FAB.!!!!!!
This is the kind of movie that makes you sigh with contentment at the end. Classic movie that deserves my golden 10+ rating.

Good print of a lesser known musical comedy. Entertaining direction by Raoul Walsh.

Raft was one slick character. TY!

Alice sings great but Frances Langford stole the whole show with her beautiful voice.

34 mins Patsy in a hat mmmmmmm.......
This film "tries" it's best, BUT, really doesn't make it, in my unprofessio nal estimation.
