    We just did this on a 99 Camry and it was just a matter of removing a few acorns from the fan to make it quite again. A couple other notes: 1) The screw heads on this Camry were 8mm not 10mm. 2) This operation is a whole lot easier if you remove the glove compartment. We struggled quite a while to get the last screw out then finally pulled the glove box. The screw came right out and then reassembly was simple.

    Great video, thanks for the upload! For anyone doing this, it's also a good idea to check out the blower resistor to the left of the blower since they tend to go bad on these cars, causing the heat/ac to only work when you turn the knob all the way to the high setting.

    Thanks! This really helped!
    I used this to change the blower on my 1998 Lexus ES300. It's the same process

    Amazing how easy that screw near the tangle of wiring comes out in this video. Unless you have the body of a 6 year old contortionist and the stubborn persistence of a woman in menopause you might need to remove the glove box to easily get at that screw. Take it from me-- take the glove box out--it isn't that hard, you will save a ton of time and you won't have to use any colorful language to address that screw.

    You have to remove the glove compartment also. One screw is buried deep underneath the wires, you won't be able to reach it without removing the glove compartment

    Thanks for the video! Mine just started squeaking today when running the fan. Had the AC going and the radio, all the sudden, heard this high pitch, thought my radio was going bad.

    I was sure that the noise was from my blower. I purchased one, got it today actually and I was bored so I did it real quick. It still makes the sound. Do you know what it could be?

    • @roetemeteor
      @roetemeteor 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's a high-pitched V sound, then it's probably debris stuck inside the vents

    On a 2001 camry, one of the screws is inaccessible due to multiple electrical connections laying right on top of the screw. It's too tight of a fit to remove the connections without removing the entire dash area to make room. Is there an easier way to do this that I'm just not seeing?

    Does anyone know if the blower motor runs every time the car is turned on, or just when the heat or air conditioning is used? Does it also run when the air flow is set to recirculating and what about in fresh air mode? Thanks.

    I have a 2000 Avalon (98 US model). I had the problem of noisy heater fan, I did follow this but ended up taking out the glovebox as well. I used a 8mm socket on the 3 screws.
    Mine was full and I mean full of nuts. I emptied it and all good. But I left the glovebox out and today had to do it again but this time only 6 nuts.
    I wanted to ask 2 questions....
    1. How do these nuts get in there? On the outside near the wipers there is steel mesh covering the vents.
    2. Is there an air filter and where is it?

    Went through this on a 2001 Camry, here's the deal:
    2 of the 3 blower screws are accessible, one near the wiring harness is not accessible without pulling the glove box. Here's how to pull the glovebox:
    th-cam.com/video/985H-ha9tMM/w-d-xo.html
    Once the glove box is out of the way, remove the 2 Phillip screws that hold the wiring harness and remove. The 3rd blower screw is now accessible. The blower housing only goes in one way correctly so pay attention to its orientation before removal.
    My blower was packed with junk from a mouse that decided to make a home in that duct. Cleaning the blower wheel and duct fixed the problem. I would recommend disassembling and checking the blower wheel and motor before ordering a new one, it may only need a good cleaning.

    Hi, Avalon and Camry. Seems all that I search for, they are considered the same when repairs are needed. Is that True?

      +Tim Thanks for watching! While they are similar, the repairs will not all be the same.

    Does this control the temperature hot n cold or?

    • @Nathan-gi9mm
      @Nathan-gi9mm 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      SP33D D3M0N the blower motor just blows air into the cabin. And the resistor adjusts the speed of the fan. It does not control the temperature

    Can you make a video on replacing the cabin air filter. Many say it doesn't have one but I'm going to search on my sons 97 LE, it should be there, probably like on a 98 lexus (on the right wall) by the gas pedal, or opposite side by under the glove compartment. If I find the two-part filters, then I'll need to buy them from somewhere. I'll update if I find them in a few days.

      Jason B this gen Camry 97-01 doesn't have an cabin air filter at all, I've looked in mine everywhere and consulted the online forums too and everyone says there isn't one

    • @Nathan-gi9mm
      @Nathan-gi9mm 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      99 Camry doesn’t have cabin filter. That’s why little leaves and dust get through the vents sometimes. Go online and enter your vehicle and look at cabin filters. None pop up it doesn’t exist
