I gave up a VW Golf for one of these and the difference is incredible - the Honda is light years ahead on fuel consumption, engineering, refinement and reliability. In short , this is a classy car.

I have the version previous to this, have been driving it the past 2 years and have been extremely happy with it. 1.6 diesel aswell. For a now 10 year old car(mines 2014), it still looks the part on the road and handles scarily well for what it is. Good job Honda

What a great video, so comprehensive. I’ve just been contacted by a local dealer with a brilliant offer on the exact model, even though I wasn’t planning on replacing my 145000 mile Honda Accord 2007 2.0SE, petrol, just yet as it still feels so well put together. I can see myself being Honda for life. I get 43 plus mpg out of my Accord, but can still get great entertainment out of the Vtec engine, when suitable. It’s the best overall car I’ve ever had, never lets me down, amazing gearbox, engine, electrics and chassis, it’s a pleasure to drive and own. It’s still contemporary looking and makes other cars from the mid 2000s look plain dated. One spot of rust on one wheel arch, otherwise it looks new,mi can never understand why Honda can’t keep importing them.

I bought one and do not regret it. It is the best choice i could have made! I couldn't be more satisfied with its practicality and daily performance. WHAT A GREAT CAR! I own the 1.8 petrol from 2015. It is fun to drive, only uses 6.2 L per 100km. Maintenace is so easy it can all be done by yourself. The boot space is mind boggling I fit 2 mountainbikes in mine!

@@OsvUkVehicleSupply Overall i just liked the overall concept and all the genius little details. The torsion beam suspension freeing up space in the boot, ives this car as much interior space as an MPV but it is very low slung and looks like a coupe.
Further more after reading through the service manuals of the civic and its japanese rivals, the civic in the petrol cersion is by far the easiest to maintain on your own (no special tools needed even for valve adjustment)
      those were the main reasons

I've driven many different cars and travelled in many of my friends cars so I've had a large pool from which to compare. Also driven the current 1ltr petrol civic . This 2016/17 civic is better drive than current model imo. Better made too. I traded a civic type r for mine so it's not as fast but its unbelievable economy (min60mpg in mixed driving 75+on motorway)very relaxed but punchy . Drives like a large quality car, I've had 8 Hondas since 2001 and only 1 fault between all in 900000 miles

@@lucha0075db I assume your talking about the fly model. I've been looking to purchase one for last 2 years but then cam over all sensible and used money to buy 2 civic diesels !
As I own a mint Integra dc 5 very low mileage I can still get my "fix". From what I know the enthusiasts are rating the fk2 over the fk8 latest model because it's purer and feels more focussed. People I know rate the fk2 extremely high as a drive. But they very expensive on tyres and can drink a bit too.
My Integra is good on fuel and has a performance close to fk2 up to 100 it will keep up with focus rs turn in and cornering off the scale.
But as everyday practical driver my diesel is brilliant a quality effort.

What is the road/ tyre and wind noise like in the cabin? Especially when driving at 70mph / 120kph. I drove the civic model before this one (mk8/ 8th gen) loved it but road noise was loud, droning into cabin which got annoying on long journey and the cabin noise meant I had to speak loudly to talk with passangers. What an excellent review. All aspects covered in great detail. I bought the exact same model in 2020, to replace a mk5 Golf 1.9tdi Sport, and I’m really happy with mine. Low running costs, lots of kit, huge boot, plus it’s a Sport so slightly better looking. The only two negative points (vs the Golf) are the handling (it’s not as assertive), and interior build quality, but other than that, it’s far superior. VW made huge mistakes with the metal protection on the mk5/6’s, the Honda doesn’t have that issue.
