Put on my copy of ETWM, just as I was watching this "Making of " Video. The Magic, the Acting , and the Effects, are what makes this movie worth watching. One of my favorite films, and the sequels are also just as valued.
I watched the film for the first time in well over a decade back in October and it didn’t hold up as well as I remembered it. I liked Kim Richards acting in the film more than Ike Eisenmann. It was a surprise to realize this had both Ray Milland and a pre-Halloween Donald Pleasance in it on the revist though and to see them and Albert acting their butts off for something they could have just phoned it, but gave it their all for was nice to see.
@@jamesmoyner7499 Great analysis. The fact that Albert and Pleasance didn’t “phone it in” adds to the dramatic tension which was very rare to experience in 70s Disney films. Along with the special effects and general interest in aliens among the us population this film was a winner. Still loved by many to this day!
@@keepingwaltindisneyI hope Escape to Witch Mountain will be soon added to all the greats of "keeping Walt In Disney". This was and still is my favorite Disney show.
I also watched it again recently, my mom was a kid when these came out so i hadnt seen them in forever. But it held up much better than i thought it would, but i can easily forgive dated effects and styles. When i watch older movies with their older style of hair and fashion i just think of how much studios pay for that aesthetic, and i love seeing faces that are younger and trying to figure how something was filmed!
This was one of my *absolute favorite shows* as a kid. And strangely enough, in the mid 80's as a teenager, I has several up-close intense experiences with UFO's (seriously) and it makes me wonder if there was a connection with why I loved this so much
I've never seen this behind the scenes show. It's all cool. I loved escape from witch mountain. Tony and Tia.. and I raised my kids on all the Disney shows and the witch mountain shows. Ike (mike) eisenmann is an amazing kind actor and genuine person. As Kim Richard's is. .. they are very nice genuine people. And so friendly . Not like most actors that are cold and fake. These two seem down to earth. And when Ike started to cry it clicked a cord. With me that he is a very compassionate kind person. And wish I could have met him and Kim and tell them how much I appreciate them both and what they did for the movie. As many kids felt alone or lost in this world and they gave the impression to all kids that they don't need anyone because they have each other.
Interesting fact... Melissa Sue Anderson, who played Mary Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie, also auditioned for the role of Tia just as Kim Richards also auditioned for Mary. While they were waiting to see who would do what, they both got to attend school on Dopey Lane at Walt Disney Studios 🙂
I remember when Kim was on Little House a girl with a short leg and they made her a special fitting shoe in the episode. It was a memorable episode, obviously. Plus, and I might be the only one, but I loved her on Hello Larry too. Was so mad when it got cancelled.
Kim Richards, in addition to playing Tia in the “Witch Mountain” series, played Prudence in “Nanny and The Professor (opposite Juliet Mills, Richard Long, David Doremus & Trent Lehman)”, Ruthie in “Hello Larry (opposite McLean Stevenson)”, and was a “Real Housewife of Beverly Hills”.
Thank you so much for this short " behind the scenes" for this movie that brings back some precious childhood memories..i'm laughing by imagining the woke brigade being offended by " so many white men on screen" and screaming about " fighting the evil patriarchy" for a movie that brings so many sweet memories. Those were the days.
We were so lucky as kids. We had movies like this one. I remember seeing it at the drive in theater 🤩🌠🚗

@joshfacio9379 It's not the anesthetics, wardrobe, or even hair. It just didn't hold up for me
