It's amazing how many people (like me) have old, vhs copies of this on life support. It was played on PBS exactly once. Thank you for keep this gem alive.
I saw this production at the old Goodman Theater in Chicago many many years ago! I absolutely loved it-laughed all the way through! Best version of Shakespeare ever! Thank you so much for posting 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great to see! Even my conversion of my old VHS tape of this became unplayable. Wanted to show to my daughter. I've been in touch with lincoln center & PBS. no one had an available copy
Thanks for uploading this! I remember being in a hotel in San Francisco in the mid 1980s and arranging to meet a colleague for dinner, and putting my coat on but the TV was on in my room and as I was about to leave and go down for dinner, I noticed this had just started on one of the local PBS channels, and so I was hooked. I think the version I saw was from the Vivien Beaumont Theatre in NYC. I saw FKB several times when they played in the area (I live in Southern NH, and I saw FKB @ Brandeis, Fitchburg and several other places) - this has to be one of the best versions of Comedy of Errors I have ever seen! Thanks again!
Thank you for uploading this! My mom (an English literature teacher & huge lover of Shakespeare) recorded this for her class on our old Betamax & I nearly wore out the tape watching it so much. I memorized so much of it & that all came back as I watched! One of my all time favorites!
At least your copy works better than mine! And of course I too contacted the guys at FKB they of course denied this film. Even Lincoln Center claimed to not have this on hardcopy. Glad someone downloaded it! One of my Favorite Shakespeare plays on film!
Thank you so much for posting this! I have had this on a VHS tape for 20-odd years but the tape is disintegrating and this is just a great show that still has me howling with laughter when I watch it!
I love this play I'm so happy I found it. I used this play and a tape of Anna Russell to introduce my little niece to theater and classical music. One of her favorites was Great Preformances the Flying Karamazov Brothers doing a ballet routine in pink tutus and combat boots. Every time I babysat she wanted that video. She is now on her way to becoming a very fine psychiatrist. I think she saw other ways of looking at things because she was introduced to the Arts when she was so young. If you have young ones show them this play its a great way to introduce them to Shakespeare without the eye rolling or the whine "Do I Haffta"? Try it once you'll be surprised.
One of the members of this group has passed away. Sam Williams was also a King County Metro Transit bus driver. He suffered a fatal heart attack while driving on 11/17/2016 at about 11:11PM. westseattleblog.com/2016/11/followup-west-seattle-bound-c-line-driver-dies-after-heart-attack-on-viaduct/#comment-2060990
Another thanks for posting this. I had known of it but only thought to look on Yt today. Could not WNET get this out of the vault? It must be archived.

My family watched this when it was on PBS years ago. My adult son and I talked about it just a month ago.
Oooh, me too !
:)
I have a much cherished VHS of this from the single time it was broadcast. I'm so happy this treasure has been preserved.

Thank you so much! Even the Karamazov Brothers have said they do not have a copy of this!
This is wonderful! I worked on the original production and have nothing form it but a few photos!
So very, very happy to see this here! Thank you!

Thank you - my VHS of this is dying, dying.
Oh! Thank you so much for this!
Thank you so much. My version of this play is on tape at least as old as I am. Probably older. I've been desperate to find it. Thank you, thank you.
