    Can you link to the video showing the filter replacing?

    last year i had the very same problem!! ethanol is extremely caustic to rubber. we dont notice it much as we are always putting in new gas, but let the gas sit in the system for 90 days and it starts to eat the rubber hose from the inside. if you don't mind i would like to post a link to what happened to my generator. it started to do that first, close to the tank. the video shows exactly what it does to rubber.i ended up replacing all the rubber gas lines. i no you said it is fuel injected but take a look at it and see. ethanol also will cause a lot of water to collect in the gas tank after sitting for a while. i use heat in mine every other refuel or so. helped a bunch. napa guys were right on with that one.

      You are correct about the ethanol! It is nasty stuff, it is a shame the government shoved it down our throats. You are welcome to share the link, I remember watching the video on your channel and it is very informative. Thank you for sharing. When I get to Arizona maybe we can have a few cold ones together! :)

    manifold leak can cause 02 fault code, cause a lean condition, fuel pumps in these are nfg, an auxiliary fuel pump add can be a fix too

    I would check for a clogged catalytic converter; manifold gasket leak; or bad Rotor or rotor cap? Have experienced the
    symptoms your are describing with these problems.

    Hy there . First of all like you videos . i am working on a GM CHEVY 454 RV that was sitting in the yard of my landlord for almost 5 years and i decided that will be a nice project for me . it need allot of working but its a challenging and will be great . Nobody has started the motor in years . some water inside since we are in uk and the wheather is verry wet most of the time . last weeks i started by removing all the spark plugs add ub40 in the cylinder holes for lubrification , i fitted 2 batteries and crank the motor without the spark plug wires in to get oil presure . the engine its sppining good and all working there i think . i have oil presure but i dont know if the fuel pomp is working , i dont know how can i check it . i am not a mechanic by the way . maybe some solution mite help .Regards from Sam and Jenny from UK

    Hey! What were your symptoms? Mine acts like it's not getting enough gas, it starts to lose horsepower, and it vibrates like it's about to stall when it acts up. I am wondering if it's the filter or the pump, or maybe even something else! The problem seems to only occur after the engine has ran for a bit, making me think it's an overheated fuel pump, that could be overheating because it's pumping too hard through the filter!

    • @lancepilon361
      @lancepilon361 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clayton Moore that's happening to me right now on my 05 suburban,you think its fuel filter?

    • @claytonmoore8472
      @claytonmoore8472 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      lance Pilon I changed the filter in mine, and, since then my car has run significantly better, with no problems at all. I'd give the filter a shot, because it's cheaper, and if that doesn't help, the pump. But my car feels almost new! And my gas Mileage bumped up by 2-3 mpg.

      Vincent Falcone At this point I think the problem may lie within the tank. Looks like I am going to have to drop the fuel tank. Second filter was not clogged at all, not much else left that would cause the probe other than a restricted or faulty fuel pump.

  • @davidgriffin14
    @davidgriffin14 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    you should do a fuel pressure check.

    • @RufusNDufus
      @RufusNDufus  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      davidgriffin14 Fuel pressure is ok when tested. It may not be when the problem occurs but I can not test it while driving. I think I may still have water in the tank, that would probably cause the same problem. Water would be easier to deal with. I do not want to drop the tank unless it is absolutely necessary. Thank you for your input. I truly appreciate any suggestions.

    An engine scope would give you an answer fast. Suggest it to your mechanic, if you can't find the issue. I'm going to carry mine in my RV. OBD does not help with every problem. A scope, on the other hand, rarely misses the issue.

    • @RufusNDufus
      @RufusNDufus  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      urgentcareguy3 I agree, OBD is not the answer to all problems.

    Probably water in the gas tank but COULD be computer related. There is a " pour - in " additive now that harmlessly evaporates water from fuel tanks, Auto Zone will have it. If it's electronic in nature, it's probably a $10 sensor failing under heat load that costs $200 in diagnostic time to find.

    • @RufusNDufus
      @RufusNDufus  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did add some dry gas to the tank, no improvement. I am convinced that the fuel pump is at fault. I the problem persists after a new one is installed I am going to have to look further. Reason I am going with the pump first is that the fuel tank has to come down to repair the fuel filler tube. So while the tank is down I want to eliminate the fuel pump as a possible problem.

      Update on my first comment. I MAY have your answer & it's a PAINLESS, relatively cheap fix !
      We MAY be barkin' up the wrong tree. The problem you describe is intermittent IGNITION, NOT fuel starvation. It is a VERY common problem here in the sub - tropics where extreme heat and moisture condensation are constant issues with vehicle and marine electronics. ANY parts store can check this for you ( take them the part ) and it's remedied by simply replacing the plug - in IGNITION MODULE, usually about 60 bucks ( non OEM ) . The problem is SO prevalent here that many people who spend time on the road actually carry a spare !

      My money is on the fuel pump! However I do appreciate your suggestion, and if I am wrong I will apply it.

    As someone already said you should drain and flush out the tank and then put new gas in. There could be water in the tank for sitting too long. Also use fuel stablizer if it sits for more then 90 days. Another thing you can do is clean the injectors they maybe partially clogged. Hope that helps.

    this is the video i was talking about with the ethanol and rubber. messed up the seal on the float in the carb as well. in the end had to replace all the rubber gas lines rebuild the carb again. i was told to drain all the gas i could in the system and use a stabilizer or heat in the tank its self if going to sit more than 90 days.
