    Hey Jeff, THS is where you enter the trim setting from the perf data page. In this flight you would enter 1/DN0.4.

    Hey Jeff! You might already know this, but in some cases the RNAV approaches will have X, Y & Z on the end, usually just signifying different minimums, with Z usually being the lowest, and the letters above (Y, X) having higher minimums, respectively. In this case though, the Y is an RNAV (RNP) Approach, and the Z is an RNAV (GPS) approach, with the Zulu approach having slightly lower minimums and only straight segments... just in case you were wondering!

    QFE = The Q-code FE: Field Elevation (Altimeter reads 0 at airfield); means sea level pressure corrected for temperature, adjusted for a specific site or datum like an airfield, being the most obvious example. When this is set on your altimeter, it will read your HEIGHT not altitude. It will read zero at airfield elevation and after take off will read your HEIGHT above that specific airfield. If you fly to another airfield of different elevation and/or different QFE pressure, you will have to ensure you reset that particular airfields QFE if you want your altimeter to read zero on touchdown.
    QFE is only useful within about 10-15 miles out from the airfield the QFE relates to as it only gives you the height reference to the touchdown point on the runway. On departure you should switch to the Standard Altimeter Setting (SAS) of 1013hPa/ 29.92in.Hg/ 760mm.Hg when passing the transition height (= Transition Altitude - Airfield elevation) Transition altitude/height varies among countries, in the UK it's 3000ft in the US it's 18,000ft. If you are not climbing that high to make the switch then you should switch to the RPS which is the lowest forecast QNH in a given Altimeter Setting Region. This will be normally worked out by the weather guys and will be part of the pre flight weather brief.
    QFE is very good for new pilots who are remaining in the circuit around an airfield and keeps things simple for that task.
    QNH: Nautical Height (Altimeter reads 0 at sea level)

    Jeff, I’m a big fan of your vids and I didn’t scroll thru the 346 comments to check, but you’ll notice right after descent you activated the approach phase which in the airbus takes your speed to green dot which is minimum clean speed, which was 206kias. That’s quite a slow speed to be at right at the top of descent. The airbus approach phase is AUTOMATICALLY activated when you hit the DECEL zone or MANUALLY activated during ATC vectoring etc and will manage the speed to first take you to green dot and then progressively slow you up based on your flap extensions to Vfe next (flap extension next speed) and eventually Vapp. In X-Plane or FSx/p3d without ATC, you can generally flyover and hit the DECEL points but if you have ATC vectoring etc, you may need to activate approach under 10K or within a certain range. The point is to allow managed vs selected speed as the airbus is all about the automation. Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing more airbus videos from you!!!

    But Jeff, the briefing clearly states to turn off all electronic devices or put them into airplane mode for takeoff and landing... lol. Probably so the pilots can have better cell service to themselves.

    • @jacksonabernathy1683
      @jacksonabernathy1683 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      kublukichuo it’s really just bull crap when they tell you to turn off all devices. They say it’s “to prevent interference between the cockpit and the tower,” but in reality it’s illegal for any device to operate in any way that would interfere with the plane and the communications

    • @kublukichuo
      @kublukichuo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is, in fact, true. Federal regulations state that any interference with the communication systems of an aircraft (even communication within the aircraft) must be resolved by the removal of the device which causes the interference. Which is why I cannot have certain battery packs plugged into my phone or iPad because for some reason, those certain battery packs cause intermittent interference with our radios.

    Planted it on the runway there a bit mate. Also, you left the speed brakes at FLT DET from cruise to 10,000 even though you were at speed around 18,000 which meant you were very flow for most of the approach. Other than that, great flight and don’t forget those checklists!

    As Jeff was asking about the weird "barking" sound that came on intermittently, it was the PTU( Power transfer unit).
    The main function of the PTU is to ensure there is enough pressure in the hydraulics. It kicks in from time to time to ascertain this. The PTU button is right below the "Engine 2 fire alarm" in the middle column of the lower overhead panel. Hope this helps! :)

    • @planes1mple296
      @planes1mple296 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Prinze Racela I saw the video again and looks like he's removed both the parts in which he's not sure about the reason that peculiar sound comes on. He seemed a bit perturbed by that sound.
      Anyhoo, it's just normal in case you hear that sound whilst flying the Airbus A320. :)

    • @FsxPlayer112
      @FsxPlayer112 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The PTU kicks in if there is at least a 500psi difference in the green and yellow pump. It‘s use is to get both hyd pumps on a equal PSI if one pump fails. You hear it at ENG Start where the PTU runs a self test, and after eng shutdown where also the PTU is being shut down automaticly :)

    • @FsxPlayer112
      @FsxPlayer112 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually what i meant is if the green pump fails the PTU can still power the pump using the yellow pump, and also the other way around

    21:29 Looks like you let the external power get removed before the APU was giving you electrical power - you have to let it spool up and complete it's start cycle before you get APU AVAIL message on the APU page. The ECAM caution you got for FWC are just self tests when power is first turned on (meaning the aircraft did shut down whilst your APU was starting) and eventually extinguish after a few seconds. You 'll know when it completes when the ECAM goes and you get the mode reversion triple click sound.

    When I flew the a320 in another mod, when I configured which runway I was taking off from, and the flaps for takeoff, the plane calculated the V1, VR and V2 speed. Idk if this is only in that mode, but maybe its the same for this

  • @Screwball6986
    @Screwball6986 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    THS stands for Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer, and your V-spds for an Airbus are usually calculated via an outside source, Aerodata, wizz-wheel, etc... Also, while most may refer the the MCDU and FMGS as the same thing, that is far from even being remotely correct... the MCDU is just an interface, the FMGS controls many may things in coordination with the 3 FACs, and in turn controls all flight guidance.

    • @zk9058
      @zk9058 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dwayne Etchison - yeah.....you are supposed to enter your trim position in the THS box. So for example, if you were using flaps 1 with trim set to down .5 you would enter “1/dn0.5” in the “flaps/THS” box. Once entered, it should auto compute the v-speeds (at least it does so on the fslabs version of the a320).

    • @scootvirtual5609
      @scootvirtual5609 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually the THS box is just a reminder to the Crew. It has no effect on the FMGS calculations. That's why it can be left blank with only a flap setting inserted making no difference to performance calculations.

    • @Screwball6986
      @Screwball6986 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well that is not true for the real aircraft. The real aircraft uses that input to help manage the optimum AOA for climbout. In the sim I am sure it does nothing at all tbh. But, if we want to get real specific, its not the FMGS that is managing this, but instead 1 + 1 of the FACs, with the 3rd doing comparison calculations of the other two. And as for the the calculation of V-speeds, the aircraft itself doesnt do that, most all airlines use an outside Takeoff and Landing calculation service, such as Aerodata to compute these along with the W&B envelope calculations as they go hand in hand.

    • @scootvirtual5609
      @scootvirtual5609 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The primary way of setting the THS is through the percentage of MAC on the trim wheel to avoid confusion between THS up or down. Writing the THS position in the perf page is a nice reminder but nothing more than that. The main action is to check the % of MACTOW during the after start from fuel pred. Airbus teaches it in the various PDP / normal sop.

    • @Screwball6986
      @Screwball6986 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Again, the THS setting does not change the physical deflection of the Horizontal stab (i never said that), that is indeed changed by a trim wheel as it is on every aircraft really, also the wheel is marked with UP/DN and and whole number values with more up than DN, and also the %MAC but in not so granular values, but marked as (CG (N)). However, where you are wrong, is that the fuel prediction page is NOT used for calculation of the TOW CG. At least not in the states, as the prediction page as stated by Airbus is to be used as a reference only, not to be used as an actual CG calculation. This applies only to the 320 family, as the heavier airbus models do have a CG system involving finite control over CG using trim tanks and such, i.e. the A330. With the 320 family, most airlines (including mine) use an outside service, to calculate the TOW CG, which factors in a taxi burn and the resulting (albeit small) change in CG. The same goes for landing, the crew may use the CG from "the box" as a "double check" of the landing CG, V-Speeds, and minimum runway distance (if they want to pull out their manuals and do some spaghetti charts). I appreciate that it appears you have done at least some research and that is commendable, but however in this instance you are mistaken, maybe you confused this series with the bigger Airbuses.

      You need at least 16gb ram 8gb vram and an i7 for this plane to run smoothly but the zibo doesn’t require that much

      Start with a default X-Plane aircraft, (I recommend the 737 or the 747). There are plenty of tutorials on TH-cam on how to program those two from a cold and dark. After that you would want to use the website that Jeff showed here to plan the route (using the TH-cam tutorials to know how to translate that information into the plane). If you are just wanting to get used to flying, use the Cessna, spawn in at your local airport and take off and fly around and play around with the aircraft.

    Hi,
    I have a question as a really newbie flight simmer.I am flying with XPlane 11 and trying to figure out 737 Zibo mod and it feels really good.However the problem is I am using oculus rift and when i need to look at the checklist or simbrief etc I have to take off my headset again and again which is really annoying.I saw that you have internet in the cockpit and you can access all the sites you need and checklist also through the display.I thought this is something unique feature for the A320 but is there a anyway to do this on 737 zibo mod.Thanks for the awesome video !

    • @2010sirtaj
      @2010sirtaj 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the internet is a feature developed by FlightFactor for this aircraft and this is the first aircraft in all of X-Plane to have this feature. Unless Zibo makes something similar and ads it to his plane this is not possible unfortunately :( .

      Joden Jacobs I only know Air Canada procedures for the 320... they should be turned on like the Boeing when the initial system setups are completed if that answers your question, unlike the Boeing, the 320s have a mode selector that automatically disables the Center tanks when they’re emptied
