I'd spend an entire day binging them if he was playing film from The Wire again like Sopranos. That was like a quick recap thing they do for movies on TH-cam.

I always liked s3 the best but I watch THE WIRE once a year and s4 grows on me more and more, i think it’ll end up being my fave too, it does a great job of showing how all these ppl end up where they end up from the politicians to the corner kids

You missed the funniest part of season 1. When Rawls is fishing for info with Santangelo, he asks if McNulty still drinks on the job. Santangelo gives him an epic look which just says "Colonel? Are you really gonna bury a guy for something as sacred as drinking on the job?"
I don't remember you mentioning that it is later revealed that D'Angelo didn't in fact kill the girl he was bragging about, he just claimed so to seem tough, he was actually just a witness to the murder
By the time season five came out and we see Nick, i wished they would have followed up with those characters more and showed more of the import side of things. But i guess theres only so much you can do at a time
I actually started watching Oz again. Season 1 is amazing. I remember it going downhill eventually but that’s another damn good HBO show that I forgot about.
I think Oz's shark jumping point is when they introduce the rapid aging pill/shot or whatever it was. I still stuck it out to the end though because I was fascinated with the characters, especially JK Simmons' performance

But, I give it credit for being the first "golden era" TV show, even before Sopranos and Wire. It ultimately didn't stick the landing, but a lot of the filming techniques and the freedom to make entire episodes about an old man getting stabbed with an AIDS needle paved the way for everything after, even to this very minute. Before it fell apart, Oz was really, really good, influential, and damn, was it BRUTAL.
I still think of the line to this day, "At least three people have a claim to owning Napoleon's actual dick. The question to me really isn't who owns the real dick. The question is... who do those other two dicks belong to?" and it was actually a salient point to close the episode on. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant HBO style writing.
1:25:50 Lester tells McNulty that they're going to come to you one day and ask where do you want to go in the department. So the punchline is that Rawls asks McNulty where he doesn't want to go.
Kino, your next show needs to be The Shield. It's SEVERELY underrepresented here on TH-cam as far as content and it's absolutely up there with The Sopranos and The Wire! I promise you will not be disappointed!
Also keep in mind it's a super dense show. Skipping just one scene can leave you out of the loop for the arch they're doing or the overall story and or message.

I'm glad you're doing this because it'll get more people watching it and talking about it and the fact is (that I was surprised to find out) that The Wire is basically the equal to The Sopranos, best two shows ever
I would say the real Holy Trinity is the Holy Trinity of David, which is The Sopranos by David Chase, The Wire by David Simon and Twin Peaks by David Lynch.

There was a sort of semi connected proof of concept show with many of the same characters and themes that came out on HBO called (I THINK) "The Corner" Its so depressing that the AMAZING actor who played Omar died a couple weeks ago!
Phaelen being dropped from the "mayors ticket" means he is no longer the mayor's candidate. You'll see in season 3 that the mayor will print brochures with their favorite delegate for each position. Great video keep up the good work
You youngins will never know the feeling of not having HBO and waiting, literally stalking, the mail man to bring you the red envelope with the Netflix disc inside. We had to watch it piecemeal, two episodes at a time, spread over MONTHS. Ah back in the day.
Your the man for this 💯 the wire doesn't get the praise it deserves like sopranos. I guess because it's my a urban view of the streets. It's very dark if you think about, but overall I think it's more realistic and just hits home for me.

I always felt like ep 7 when they had the kid with the one eye that it was a commentary on how sometimes police brutality can push a kid into the street-life, like before he was blinded he was what u called “playing gangster” just staying out late, but Prez attack is what pushed him over the edge, that why Daniels tried to be nice to him because he knew it would push him over the edge and now he sees the police as the enemy. If the kid was in the street like bodie or wallace they would have known about him and pointed that out but he was literally a nobody
Kino, I’m happy you enjoy that the Wire is a slow moving show. I’ve heard one say, watching the Wire is like reading a book, if you pay close attention, you will be rewarded

Your kids would be safe with Omar but Stringer Bell would use them as meat shields without hesitation. The Barksdale crew is not up and coming. Avon is the king.

"Jimmy, you're no good for people" -Bunk. I think Bunk felt morally compromised after McNulty had him lie to the other detective, and that's what led him to cheat on his wife.

People aren't kidding when they say every line/scene is perfectly crafted, and often for reasons not revealed or given context until several seasons later. If you're sleepy, put it off till the morning, etc. That sort of thing. You're gonna love it! It's THE top of the mountain, as far as storytelling.

It's funny watching this, I'm only 5 minutes in but so many things you've assumed are wrong haha. I'm not having a go, it took me many watches to properly understand a lot of the themes and small minutia of the wire.
First time watching the wire? Oh boy, oh boy, you are in for a treat! Along with the sopranos and breaking bad, the wire is my favourite show and I think perhaps the best television ever made. I always try and encourage my friends to watch it if they haven't already done so and I actually get quite excited for them to discover it! I can't wait to see what you make of it. Its now been just about 2 decades since it began, and maybe its beginning to get a little dated, I'm not sure, but I don't think that should diminish your enjoyment of it at all. But it will be interesting to hear your opinions on it watching it for the first time now, without your opinion possibly tainted by nostalgia. I'm sure you will love it, but I'm eager to hear your views either way and to maybe gain some new new insights on my favourite show. Enjoy!

All David Simon HBO shows are awesome. The Wire, TREME, Generation Kill, The Deuce and Show me a Hero. All are top notch A++++
