For anyone using an Xbox and PC setup you will need the AUX cable talked about in the video. If you are using your Mix Amp for Xbox only(Idk why you would have a Mix Amp then) then you will be able to use your mic with optical audio and USB plugged into the xbox.

For me the solution was to 1. update the firmware using a PC. Download software from their website for free. It’s called Astro Command Center, once downloaded using the cable provided connect mixer amp to usb and update. 2. After updating firmware Follow all the instructions given on the really big white paper with tiny letters included in the box. 2. Disconnect the AUX from headset plug it behind mixer amp and connect the other end to the controller with the cable provided, do this while Xbox is turned off BTW. Again, plug in everything as instructed to mixer amp, usb to Xbox, optic cable to Xbox and finally AUX to controller from the back of the Mixer amp. Now turn on Xbox with controller after start up it’ll ask you to assign headset to your account. If it doesn’t or you missed the notification go to accessories on Xbox app. After you assign headset to account THEN you disconnect cable AUX from behind the mixer amp to the Headphones, THEN disconnect controller connection and plug that into the front of the mixer amp, You should NOT have any wires connected to the controller after installation. Dolby Atoms does not need to be installed and used. It was just given for free for 2 years.
I ask because i stated in the pinned comment that as long as you have the USB in the xbox your mic will work without an aux. Then again idk why you would get a mix amp if you arent gonna plug it into a computer.
Anyone reading this you dont need the extra cable. Here is what worked for me. I agree kind of dumb. Connect the amp and headset to computer. Download astro command center. Update firmware. Plug back, make sure to flip the pc/xbox switch accordingly. Try start a party. If this does not work while the xbox is on unplug the power cord. Plug it back in and the headset should be recognized. Reading posts and found there is a bug with the usb ports when you dont fully power down. And xbox when you shut it off there is no option for full power down anymore unless you go to settings and click that option. So no option when shutting off from the controller. Hope this helps.

@@MVPlayer123 yes mine did that the first few times because the xbox doesnt seem to be very good st refreshing the usb ports. But mine fixed itself not sure i did anything to help it lol, but flicking the switch didnt bother me too much
So I just bought this and I had a friend figure it out so I’ll pass the info on. @@iiTzMcChicken I don't have a gaming PC/laptop. I just have a shitty laptop I do school work on. But the Astro command center updated my firmware. I then deleted it off my laptop. Ill get it again if I need it. I play games solely on the Xbox one. Any sort of PC can run the command center. But yea I guess you're right, you can't use this method if you don't have any sort of PC.
Same here, and the buzzing he mentioned is constant for me. Turning down the voice volume eliminates the buzz but also any voices... so kinda defeats the purpose
All you need to do is update the firmware the reconnect the mix amp to the Xbox. Then do a hard reset of your Xbox. Once the Xbox is back on flip the switch (on the mix amp) to pc mode, then back to Xbox mode. Problem is solved and you don’t need an unnecessary extra cord!!
@@s0Mbrrrrr I got it sorted bro you have to get a cable 3.5 jack with 3 rings in each end on goes to the aux of the amp and the other one to the remote control then go to system sound and you will have the line in from the recoding section, turn the stream labs or obs go to settings add audio then choose the line in there you go you can speak and hear everyone and if you stream everything will be on the stream 🙏🏻
i just load up my xbox and then switch to pc on my mix amp then back to xbox this i get a notification saying headset assigned then everything works fine
No Aux cord required to get them to work, just unplug the mix amp and replug it back in while the console is fully powered on. Start a party afterwards to ensure your mic audio is working. Thank me later! 🤙
I bought the Sabrent 4 port USB hub on Amazon. $7-$10. It has 4 on off buttons. Turn your Xbox on then turn on the mix amp. Works awesome. No need for Xbox controller cable. Just wire up like normal.
@@ricohernandez453 i have it plugged into the front USB port on xbox one. Plugged in the mix amp micro USB into one of the 4 ports. Each port on the hub has a on/off button. Fire up ur xbox. Log into ur profile. Then turn on the port where u plugged it in an all good to go.

Okay so you do not have to plug in controller. I was having the mic trouble too. But what i did was go to the asto app. When i got the message flip your astro amp to xbox (even thought it was already on xbox it didnt register) i flipped it to pc and then back to xbox and it assigned headset and it worked. Disclaimer if that doesnt work: i did update the headset on my computer first. Hope this helps

Then go back to xbox (make sure your controller is updated too) and go to the astro app. If you see a notification that your headset is signed in. It worked. Dont plug in an aux cable at all. If you need proof drop your snap or insta and ill send you a vid of it working with out aux cable when i get out of work later.

Are you using a separate pair of headphones with the mix amp pro? If so I recommend something like the v moda boom pro microphone if your headphones have a 3.5mm Jack. Available on Amazon.

@@andrew1171 I just have Headset for Dolby Atmos selected and click using HDMI or optical audio....the mixamp mic won't ever work when you first turn on the xbox, so after the xbox is on, turn the mixamp to PC then back to Xbox. That allows xbox to see the mic.

DevTheDude93 I believe so. I used to have to use an earbud when streaming PS4 and I would get my stream audio through it. Plug it in and make sure to follow the video and you should be good to go. If it doesn’t work I would assume it won’t work although I can’t confirm that.
iiTzChicken the mic isn’t working at all. So I’m using hyper x cloud 2 with that mix amp. I plus in the usb and the optical and have everything set up but it still says we can’t find a microphone for these people. I’m using the mix amp for the Xbox only right now. Pc parts and build will be coming together in the coming days.

As long as your audio comes through your “speakers” your audio will pickup on obs. If you are on Xbox I recommend using the Xbox app for your parties so there aren’t any issues
Ok im having that mic issue and ill figure it out when i get a aux but one thing i have noticed is that when using the dolby sound peoples voices sound alittle bit robotic? Am i the only one?
@@iiTzMcChicken just when watching videos people's voices sound robotic. And honestly I believe the mic not connecting has to do with what USB port is being used and when the device powers on. I restarted my Xbox and them plugged in the amp in the front USB and then recognized my mic.

iiTzChicken i had it in the back of the xbox is what im saying at it didnt work. When i moved the usb cable to the front it all of a sudden worked. But if i leave it plugged in and turn off the system and then turn it back on i have to unplug the cord and plug it back in for the system to recognize the mic part of the amp.

I wish I could give you a little more insight but I haven't had the problem and I haven't had anyone bring that issue up to me yet. Might be a dumb question but did you plug it into the stream port or accident?

Only thing i have think of is the aux cable or maybe bad port. I know that even if you have the right cable something it might be the cable(even if its new). No need for aux. Make sure EVERYTHING is plugged in... fullllly plugged in on all ends. Firmware updated. Unplug xbox. Plug it back in. Turn console on from CONSOLE BUTTON. Wait until it assigns headset before turning controller on. Ridiculous. But works. Let me know if this helps.
OKAY IF YOU WANT IT TO WORK DO THIS- 1) download update from astro command center and make sure your mixamp is in pc mode when you connect it to your laptop/computer. Make sure the side of the cord for your headset that has 3 black rings goes in the headset side 2) make sure you have it usb plugged into the back of xbox for me it only works in the middle port that accepts usb. 3) all cables must be fully plugged in. 4) THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT. HARD RESET YOUR XBOX. (YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE YOUR AUX PORT AT ALL TO MAKE IT WORK. You do not need to plug anything into your controller. 5) Once you are booted back up after the reset it should recognize your headset. Make sure you flip the switch back into xbox mode after your pc update. You can use your aux port for auxing music now and still use a mic simultaneousy. This should do it!

Have it set to PC, Xbox will still send audio data over the optical cable. The switch is mostly to do with the usb connection as it allows the Xbox the use of a microphone (Xbox requires a special chip for the microphone audio). This is assuming you want Xbox audio data from the game, and comms through the PC.
iiTzChicken I have the same issue. He’s saying that when you plug in the mixamp via USB, the laptop or software doesn’t detect anything at all, therefore not able to do literally anything let alone update the device. That’s where I’m at right now.

It’s a easy fix. Make sure you update the mic settings on your pc as well. You may have only updated your game settings. It worked for me

Optical and usb need to be connected to the xbox. You then need to use a 3.5mm aux cable for pc audio to be heard in your headset.

I stream off of pc and I have everything in the video but I need to know when I start streaming will this get my party chat audio because that’s what I want and I use obs

As long as your audio comes through your “speakers” your audio will pickup on obs. If you are on Xbox I recommend using the Xbox app for your parties so there aren’t any issues
Ok im having that mic issue and ill figure it out when i get a aux but one thing i have noticed is that when using the dolby sound peoples voices sound alittle bit robotic? Am i the only one?
robotic as in an audio issue? or just different? i believe thats normally a connection issue.
@@iiTzMcChicken just when watching videos people's voices sound robotic. And honestly I believe the mic not connecting has to do with what USB port is being used and when the device powers on. I restarted my Xbox and them plugged in the amp in the front USB and then recognized my mic.
@@dtimmys i have it posted everywhere at this point but ill say it one more time. if you have the usb in the xbox you dont need an aux. idk why people have a mix amp if it isnt plugged into a PC as well
iiTzChicken i had it in the back of the xbox is what im saying at it didnt work. When i moved the usb cable to the front it all of a sudden worked. But if i leave it plugged in and turn off the system and then turn it back on i have to unplug the cord and plug it back in for the system to recognize the mic part of the amp.

It still makes a strong buzzing noise for me and I do have 3 ring cord it’s brand new and my setting are changed like you said?
I wish I could give you a little more insight but I haven't had the problem and I haven't had anyone bring that issue up to me yet. Might be a dumb question but did you plug it into the stream port or accident?

Only thing i have think of is the aux cable or maybe bad port. I know that even if you have the right cable something it might be the cable(even if its new). If i can find a solution I'll be back to let everyone know.

When I do this i am able to chat but it also causes all sounds to double up. Ex: one gunshot sounds like 2. Same with all audio. Please help!!!!

No need for aux. Make sure EVERYTHING is plugged in... fullllly plugged in on all ends. Firmware updated. Unplug xbox. Plug it back in. Turn console on from CONSOLE BUTTON. Wait until it assigns headset before turning controller on. Ridiculous. But works. Let me know if this helps.

OKAY IF YOU WANT IT TO WORK DO THIS- 1) download update from astro command center and make sure your mixamp is in pc mode when you connect it to your laptop/computer. Make sure the side of the cord for your headset that has 3 black rings goes in the headset side 2) make sure you have it usb plugged into the back of xbox for me it only works in the middle port that accepts usb. 3) all cables must be fully plugged in. 4) THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT. HARD RESET YOUR XBOX. (YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE YOUR AUX PORT AT ALL TO MAKE IT WORK. You do not need to plug anything into your controller. 5) Once you are booted back up after the reset it should recognize your headset. Make sure you flip the switch back into xbox mode after your pc update. You can use your aux port for auxing music now and still use a mic simultaneousy. This should do it!

When you have usb into the pc for pc audio and optical on Xbox for Xbox audio, what mode should it be on Xbox or Pc?
Xbox for xbox and pc for pc
Have it set to PC, Xbox will still send audio data over the optical cable. The switch is mostly to do with the usb connection as it allows the Xbox the use of a microphone (Xbox requires a special chip for the microphone audio).
This is assuming you want Xbox audio data from the game, and comms through the PC.

you do realise in order for your mic to work you need to plug the mix amp directly into your Xbox one

No you have to go to settings in the astro command center and mute the aux audio setting if you use the extra aux cord.
the astro command center wont even recognize my headset on my pc..
I think I had this problem when I first got my Mix Amp. Make sure its updated and set to PC mode.
you could also plug in your headset to the PC without the Mix Amp to make sure it can detect it.

XiledBooty at the top right in the software there is a setting button and you can turn on automatic updates. It’s probably not an update issue
iiTzChicken I have the same issue. He’s saying that when you plug in the mixamp via USB, the laptop or software doesn’t detect anything at all, therefore not able to do literally anything let alone update the device. That’s where I’m at right now.
