Specifically, it's a combination of surface tension, equal opposite reaction, and relative density.. Because there isn't enough room for the liquid to move out of the way to let air in, the surface tension of the water keeps the liquid together, which then pushes against the air, which then pushes upward because it is less dense than the water.
I'm not a scientist, but I am an HVAC Technician. Basically what is happening is the barometric pressure outside of the jug is greater than the barometric pressure inside. All it would take for a rooftop unit to shut off, opening a door, or moving the jug for barometric pressure to become greater inside than outside and that jug would dump. If you took a straw and put it in the bottle it would equalize pressure and gravity would push it down as well.

A mix between surface tension and suction. The limited amount of air in the bottle provides a suction force stopping the liquid from spilling and the surface tension of the water prevents air getting in and removing the vacuum. The surface tension gets stronger the smaller the area
It’s called negative air pressure. If you get it perfectly flat and don’t break the surface tension of the water the air in the top keeps the liquid in.

Its not surface tension. Who would go out of their way to use that trick. Just stock it regularly. Surface tension is strong but its only strong enough if you slowly release paper from it
I believe it's the surface tension as well. If they were careful enough, they could flip it and put it on something like that without it breaking. The contact is probably the whole point they did that in the first place as well. When they go to remove it, it will most likely spill.

The surface tension alone wouldn’t be enough to hold up all that liquid, especially when surface tension can’t hold a penny or coin for too long. My guess would be surface tension mixed with how the holes in the surface are supporting the surface tension.
@@jonahwidmer6746 My guess is simply the pressure of the bottle. If nothing goes into the bottle, then it becomes difficult for the liquid to escape, because that would cause it to form a vacuum.
As a mechanical engineering student, I can attest that this is indeed the work of the $1.50 galdrabók, considered to be heresy by the original order of the 100 cents.
The reaction of the air is not dense enough to make that fall out of the holes and neither is the holes dense enough it has to have more of a bigger hole to make it acutally work
It's air lock and surface tension. The air lock is pushing/holding the liquid back so the surface tension of the liquid against the tiny shelf holes can keep the liquid in place so air can't glug up in to counter the air lock. Essentially as the drink tries to run out it pulls on the air in the top causing a negative pressure inside making the higher outside air pressure try to push back on the liquid pushing it into the bottle to equalize the negative air pressure. But the bottle head is to wide as it could glug air up through the liquid to equalize the pressures and this is where the liquid surface tension comes into play. The small holes of the shelf allow the surface tension of the liquid interacting with itself and the shelf to keep the liquid from flowing away while the air lock effect pushes back against the mass/weight of the liquid so it can't overcome the surface tension. Both are needed in this instance or it wouldn't work.
So water tension is a thing. It's like the ability of a liquid to stick together and as the ability of water to stick together is stronger than the force of gravity. It doesn't fall
Surface tension of the watermelon juice, along with air pressure, the holes are too small for the surface tension to be broken along with air pressure pushing up to help hold the surface tension better. A good example is when you have a sheet spread out and step in the middle your going to fall. However, if you spread this same sheet out and then lay boards under it kind of similar to # your not gonna fall through because the sheet has other parts holding it up. If this didn't help just say so I can attempt to explain simpler
@Ryan Brunson Every food is just solid soup ready to become soup, think about that before you criticize soup, for your next meal might be your last my lad. You come for one you come for all soup
If you notice some of the liquid has spilled out, this amount of liquid spilling out has created a slight vacuum inside the bottle. Through the small holes in the shelf, the air pressure cannot overcome the slight vacuum within the bottle. if you slid it off the shelf then air would flow in and the fluid would fall out.

It’s always the dollar store
As a civil engineering student, i can confirm that they did it with the help of dollar tree witchcraft
As a fellow civil engineering student, it’s definitely black magic. We covered that week 4 of physics.
as another civil engineering student, i dont know how they did it either but it surely isnt economical

The reaction of the air is not dense enough to make that fall out of the holes and neither is the holes dense enough it has to have more of a bigger hole to make it acutally work

As a person that wears shoes I can confirm that the floor at Dollar Tree is always sticky whether there is a spill or not.
True 😂
This is true!!!
⏸️
As a person that works at dollar tree and wears shoes, no matter how many times we scrub the floor, it is still sticky.
I can confirm that statement
Thank you for answering. I was hoping someone had explained the whole thing! 😊
Br wrote a hole essay but still thanks for answering hope you didn't use chagpt😂
These is piece of plastic you wannabe :D
I was thinking the same thing with the surface tension
and also tape doesnt exist

So water tension is a thing. It's like the ability of a liquid to stick together and as the ability of water to stick together is stronger than the force of gravity. It doesn't fall

As a certified turtle inspector I am completely and utterly baffled
Surface tension of the watermelon juice, along with air pressure, the holes are too small for the surface tension to be broken along with air pressure pushing up to help hold the surface tension better.
A good example is when you have a sheet spread out and step in the middle your going to fall.
However, if you spread this same sheet out and then lay boards under it kind of similar to # your not gonna fall through because the sheet has other parts holding it up.
If this didn't help just say so I can attempt to explain simpler
No wayyy probably because your a turtle inspector 😂😂

If you notice some of the liquid has spilled out, this amount of liquid spilling out has created a slight vacuum inside the bottle. Through the small holes in the shelf, the air pressure cannot overcome the slight vacuum within the bottle. if you slid it off the shelf then air would flow in and the fluid would fall out.
