    I have the 2015 178 bhp auto model which I switched from an Audi S5 3 litre supercharged. Performance wise big difference but as far as motorway stability and ride is concerned the guy is talking utter bollocks. Having driven both over the same 150 mile route. The DS is more comfortable and more relaxing to drive and gets almost twice the mpg as the Audi. And having owned 50 cars over the years the DS is definitely one of the best I have had.

    I have owned a DS5 2.0 diesel hybrid now for 2.5 years - love it! - it's not for slamming around corners but extremely smooth for motorway driving and with the hybrid version, very quiet around town. As they've stopped making the DS5, I'm looking at the DS7 next.

    I have sat in one. The seats are sooooo comfy!

    I've owned mine for two years. Lovely to look at, beautiful interior and comfy seats. I have the newer dampers and the ride is still firmer and noisier than I would like. The 1.6 diesel is not the most refined either.

    Quite a bargain basement DS is like The NewLook or Primark of Luxury cars segment whilst BMW is like House Of Fraser.

    It feels better than audi, bmw and mercedes. We have an e class Merc and the ds5, and the mercs interior dose feel cheap in comparison to the ds5.

    I never understood why lacking feel on the steering wheel is a disadvantage. Why do we need to feel every bump and hump vibrating through our arms? Isn't it enough that we feel it under our feet and butt?
    Rear legroom not at par with the German rivals??? How tall are you luv?

      well... he certainly is not tall... I'm 172cm high and, though I didn't feel cramped in it, I couldn't claim its "spacious"... but on the other hand... its a C segment vehicle (something like a "posh C4 estate") that is even much shorter than Astra J tourer or aprox. as long as2. or 3. gen Mazda 3 hatchback!!! so, -especially dear presenters - expecting D segment spaciousness is kind of unreasonable (not to use harsher word that starts with "i")... and I do agree with you about steering wheel, but not completely... a nice balance of "feel" and "power assistance"... and this one could use slightly more of the first. but that is a problem of "electric power steering"... it is much harder to "relay road info" trough them than it was trough hydraulic... ;)

    • @menifo4334
      @menifo4334 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Mirko Zlikovski I'm 187cm tall and I managed to sit in the back seat without being cramped with the driver's seat set to my height. There was just about the right legroom for my height.
      As to the feel of the steering wheel, I remember my first car with a hydraulic steering, a FIAT Tempra. Oh boy,didn't it feel strange that I could feel every undulation of the surface beneath. In fact It felt so awkward that the following day I run to FIAT service to have the car checked for any mechanical faults. In time, I got used to it.
      It's all a matter of time to let our brain be trained on how to get the information it requires from other sensors!

      I had a car once with an extreme lacking feel on the steering wheel. It was the Citroën XM, and it had something hydraulic something, power steering probably and perhaps something else hydraulic that was steering related. Anyway, it had no feel on the steering wheel. Because of the climate and harsh winters where I live (Northern Norway), that was a disadvantage when the roads were full of ice here and there, and something I don't know the english word for. When cars make deep trails in the ice on the road, it can be very difficult to drive on and also very dangerous. It is very often like that here, and those were the times that no-feel steering was a disadvantage. It felt like I was driving on perfect roads, while I in fact was not. I could not feel if I was positioned dangerously down inside those deep trails or not.
      But, for everything else, that no-feel steering with the hydraulic something was just fine. In UK it would be perfect!
      By the way, that old Citroën XM hatchback was THE most aerodynamic car ever! I could see that it was extremely windy outside the car windows, but I could not feel it. The car would go straight forward, just as if nothing happened when driving past the most windy places. My present car, the Citroën C5, oh Lord, I feel like I'm blowing off the road. The early models of XM was a shitty car qualitywise, but it was a damn good car to drive! The brakes was beyond this world. When I got my C5, I thought at first that I had lost the brakes. But no, I had just average brakes, as you find in all cars today. The XM had hydropneumatic brakes. And that can not even be compared to normal brakes. That was a dream. The brakes felt like a touch pad. They were also so strong that you could fly out the window if you pressed the pedal too hard. I wish Citroën could get those brakes back.

    DS5 is THE most beautifully designed car in the market today. Without doubt! I want one myself. I want the hybrid version, since I then get 4WD, and that comes very handy here in the rural northern parts of Norway, which actually is in the Arctic region of the world. So for Arctic winters, 4WD when you need it is really nice.
    I have to find a DS5 and take it for a test drive. I am specially interested in the suspension, and if it is soft enough for our mostly horrible and very bumpy roads. Did I forget to mention very narrow, extremely bendy and uphills and downhills only? Motorway, what is that? :-)

      Ugly compare to the 3008 ?? Well the taste is definitely like the ass, split in the middle. The DS5 is gorgeous. I had one before, and now several years later, I'm buying a 2 l 181hp diesel aut. Looking forward to the ownership.

    Citroen is preparing a revolutionnary suspension for 2017 certainly based on Böse suspension magnetic ( video on youtube)

    Best car on the road since 2012

    It's a really nice car but to be paying £26,000 plus I don't think it's worth it. Would have been better at around £17,000+

      yes, it's overpriced... but not that much as you say. if we would "split the difference" of your numbers, we would probably be close to rather fair number... its top version shouldn't cost much over that and its cheapest version shouldn't be much over what you say... ;)

    • @ravzb40
      @ravzb40 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mirko Zlikovski Yh that's true you have a valid point, but if your going to be paying that much you might as well go for an Audi A3. This cars pricing should be equivalent to a Golf or a Astra.

    • @mirkozlikovski9553
      @mirkozlikovski9553 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +RavB40
      no, I can't really agree on that... DS 5 does offer much more than average and rather ordinary Golf or Astra. in some respects it offers more than A3 because, compared to those tree, its interior looks and feels like a "happy hour in the high class brothel" ;).... and even lower trim levels are loaded with equipment. I drove top and medium trims (167hp diesel and 200hp petrol with manual and automatic gearboxes) when it came out in the spring of 2012. and I can safely say that it is absolutely above main stream C segment models in every respect... and damn close to so called premium. the reason I can say that is simple... In that time had A4 B8 and my sister had A3 8P, so direct comparison was no problem.
      having a higher price than main stream C segment is justified. but it shouldn't be THAT high... after all and despite its DS "5" name, it is not "C5" sized vehicle... so it shouldn't have "D segment" price tag.

    • @shanjanusman9974
      @shanjanusman9974 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i agree The old models with The Citroen DS badges dont hold its values well. But then if its in short supply on the second handmarket it could be a rare insight. Its unique but i bet it would lose £20K of its value in 10yrs.

    • @slavkovukmanov3278
      @slavkovukmanov3278 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mirkozlikovski9553 True rhat, but I suppose this price includes a lot of DS-only devoted ingeneering, developing and testing, as well as a lot of DS5 only parts that can't be used in other PSA modells - hence the higher price tag...
