    That Allegro seat, as in colours and materials and use of existing structure, really shows so much of what Retropower is about.

    Love the show especially now that Richard was added. I ran an Autoglass and upholstery shop for 14 years here in Central Florida. Richards individually cut diamonds for the seat inserts came out astonishingly stylish. His craft and quality is EONS from anything we were thinking of in the late 80s until 2000. The TWEED look had just come into fashion for street rods when the business was sold. .. Now it dates a car horribly!

    Allegro seat looks ace.
    Honda's do wear the bores and exhaust guides out, its just that they make a 8000+rpm engine that'll do 150,000 miles and still be going, which is bloody hard work to achieve on anything else. If it needs a rebore there are/were some oversize OEM style cast pistons available on ebay US for joke money (120 quid a set or something ridiculous iirc) that ive used a few times. They need the crowns machining down on a lathe to get the compression ratio right but they were suprisingly good quality.

    • @Jonathan_Doe_

      Those Allegro builds are probably high five figures cost. If it needs pistons, they’ll probably get some pretty high spec ones in.

    Having seen the stripped down Audi S4 it dawned on me that I've never seen you guys fit airbags to your builds. Is that because they are not something that is available as an 'aftermarket/off the shelf' product? Are they only available from vehicle manufacturers for their specific vehicles and thus are not possible to fit on bespoke cars like the ones you build?

    • @jabberwockytdi8901
      @jabberwockytdi8901 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As soon as you change the structure from the original car ( e.g. cut and shut an S4 and a Saab900) the calibration of the Airbag system goes out the window. With a one-off there is no way to properly calibrate an Airbag system - your not going to make several to crash test. So the issue of how to fit airbags themselves doesn't arise.

      I love how he dives deep into things he's passionate about. Some of us love the metallurgy chat, we could go further and talk about grain structures and how they are affected by the shaping of steel.

    Richard’s seat upholstering work is utterly beautiful to watch! I honestly believe that investing in people is the very best of all ways to grow for any good specialist company, and that “Quality & Integrity equals longevity” Also, In the longer term, I hope to see some female apprentices as well.
