    Here's a sneak peek at what we'll cover:
    Scientific Name: Neritina natalensis (most commonly) or Neritina spp. (other Neritina species can have similar red spots)
    Origin: Coastal regions of East Africa (Kenya, Mozambique, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania)
    Water Parameters:
    * Temperature: 72-78°F (22-26°C)
    * pH: 7.5-8.4 (slightly alkaline)
    * Ammonia: 0 ppm (ammonia is toxic to snails)
    * Nitrite: 0 ppm (nitrite is toxic to snails)
    * Nitrate: Below 20 ppm (high nitrates can be detrimental)
    * Tank Size: Minimum 10 gallons (38 liters) for a single snail, with additional space for tankmates
    Diet: Primarily algae eater. They will consume most types of algae including hair algae, diatoms, and biofilm.Supplement their diet with blanched vegetables (spinach, zucchini) or algae wafers if there's insufficient algae growth.
    Compatibility: Peaceful with other community tank fish, invertebrates like shrimp (except for very small shrimp species), and plants. Avoid housing them with aggressive fish that might prey on them.
    Breeding: They cannot reproduce in freshwater aquariums. The larvae require brackish water for development. Adults may lay infertile eggs, which appear as small white capsules on the aquarium glass or decorations.
    Lifespan: 1-2 years in captivity
    Maintenance:
    * Provide a well-maintained aquarium with good water quality and stable parameters.
    * Offer plenty of hiding spots like rocks or driftwood.
    * Ensure there is a lid on the tank as they are escape artists.
    * Include a source of calcium in the water, like cuttlebone, for shell health.
    Care Level: Easy to moderate
    Special Notes:
    * Red spotted nerite snails are excellent algae eaters and can help keep your tank clean.
    * They are not known to be burrowers and prefer grazing on surfaces within the aquarium.
    * They are relatively slow moving and may not be effective at controlling heavy algae infestations.
