    I'm going in a few weeks, on a cruise with family. I appreciate the tips! And you're correct, most of us Americans are not up to a "Sunday afternoon walk".

      The story behind that mistake: The company I work daily had a big event for the all offices around the world. We went to some hill near Oslo to do team building which included a one hour hike. All the people living in Norway just went straight into the woods and up to the summit, but the people from the US office thought we going to kill them.

    There's one mistake that maybe not very many tourists make, but that could be fatal, and that is underestimating the danger of nature. The natural surroundings in much of Norway are very different from what most tourists are used to. The terrain is steep, there's often no guardrail even on maintained paths, usually no lights, and the weather can and does change very fast. Always pack a rain jacket for your hike,tell someone where you are going, and listen to local advice.

    Bring rain gear. We were there for 12 days in June 2024. It rained every day. It didn’t stop us from doing multiple via ferratas but you want rain gear that works including pants.

      Like a said, weather changes from year to year. June 2023 was very warm und no rain, or even too dry.

    Good list 👍 if able, I'd say not going on a few hikes through nature during your trip is a mistake! (And nice Rago shot!)

    Hello! I'm visiting Oslo on mid April. I was wondering about renting a car and drive until Bergen. Do you think it is worth it?

    • @XploreNorway
      @XploreNorway  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      How many days do you have ? Because you basically need a day per way.

    • @saculkings

      @@XploreNorway it would be 7 days total in Norway

      Yes, you can do that. There is a lot to see along the road. Norway happens outside the cities.

      @@XploreNorway awesome. Our only concern was about the time of the year to do so. But I hope April will tread lightly on us 😆

    What about tipping at restaurants ?

    • @KalleKlovn1985
      @KalleKlovn1985 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are not expected to tip at restaurants in Norway, but it's not unusual to tip around 10% at nicer places.

    • @XploreNorway

      As said, you don't need to tip, you can if you think the staff deserves it.

      Sister-in-law was a waitress in Norway for many years. She and the other waiters/waitresses expected tips from Americans. That being said, she also told me that she ignored her other customers when she had an American at a table and gave the American the best service because she expected a tip.
