I mention this whenever I watch a video that talks about the lead breaking in coloured pencils - if you microwave your coloured pencils for a few seconds it will melt the broken lead back together! 😁 I accidentally trashed an entire set of prismacolours after keeping them in a wooden pencil case and them getting knocked around in my bag all day (I was devastated 😭) but then I learned this trick and managed to revive the entire set! Generally I’ll do 5-10 seconds, roll them around a bit, then do another 5-10 seconds. Just FYI, if you microwave them for too long the paint on the outside will start to bubble up and get crispy, but even if that happens it’s better than not being able to use the pencil at all.
Actually, that is a bad hack. One, each brand of colour pencil has a different make up so if that hack did work for one it would not work for the other. Two, you cannot actually see inside the pencil to see if it really melted back together. Three, if it did melt the lead of the pencils. Then you would have a mess as the tip of the already sharpened part and (if nothing is on the back of the pencil) flat back part of the colour pencils would melt all over the microwave plate making your colour pencil useless and a mess. In short. That is a fake hack.
Actually, I have done that hack with numerous brands and while it does melt it also starts to poor out the open ends of the colour pencils. I also used 4 different brands of microwaves as each microwave is slightly different. It does not work and just makes a mess. Not to mention if there is any moisture in the pencils they can explode. And yes, I had some explode on me resulting in my neighbors calling the police thinking there were guns going off. The hack only seems to work to some who do not let it in long enough to actually melt the inside of the colour pencils. Kind of like a placebo effect. When you do it makes a mess. Think about how long you have to heat frozen green beans just to get them soft. The wood around the pencil take as long to heat up enough to allow the heat to get to the center of the pencil to melt the wax while the tip and the ends of the pencil exposing the lead are completely melted and all over the plate. Like I said it does not work.
Colored Pencil brands that actually do the bare minimum of quality control don’t need these “hacks”, they just work as intended all the time. 15-20 years ago prismacolors were great, they were one of the best brands on the market and were a very affordable price. Then they moved their factory and stopped doing any kind of quality control. Now there are: leads that are horribly off center, leads that completely slide out of the casing, split casings, casings made with knotty wood that sharpens irregularly, and leads that come out of the factory shattered so all the way down the pencil the sharpened point falls out as soon as you get it sharp enough to color with. Though other brands like caren d’arche and Faber castel are more expensive per pencil, needing to buy a prismacolor pencil 4x as often because of these issues makes the more “expensive” brands a smarter buy. I still use prismacolors for coloring books because they are cheap and have a good pigment load, but that’s all they have going for them. I use brands that are lightfast and actually pay attention to quality control for my actual artwork.
I wanted to ask if you could test their watercolor compatibility, you can tell their watercolor cause of the brush on the pencil. I also wondered if you could compare them to the og caradache color pencils, not the luminance. They seem awfully similar, caradache are a luxury swiss brand so maybe thats where they got their inspiration from!
Yeah! I didn’t test them as deeply because they’re the exact same as the other ones. So this would be the third time I would have done it… so I decided to cut to the chase and talk about the new stuff :)
Wow. Just wow. To me, the fact they have such low end pencils in a high end brand bag, makes me feel they have soiled and demeaned the value of such items. As a high end brand they should be ashamed of themselves. As an art lover and amateur artist, for that price I would expect high end color pencils in the bags.
@@chatboulon743 In my mind, if I am buying the brand, I better be getting top grade in everything. Even if I would win the lottery, I don't think I could stomach paying for a name and not quality.
I agree with you. I bet the leather isn't even worth that much. Their brand is a household name so they can sell anything while maximizing their profits.

I'm fascinated by the fact that the brands would rather cut corners than reduce their profit margin. It's obvious that they are charging a lot for the brand but if they keep this up on multiple fronts, then what is the brand really worth? On the other hand, artists aren't their target with this stuff so maybe the rich people really just don't care if what they buy is run of the mill stuff with a certain label on it.
Great work exposing this!! Most people seem to not realize the vastly common practice of drop shipping low cost products/rebranding from Alibaba and others
Hey Rae, big fan for a long time now. Would love if you could do a video at the end of the month or something where instead of testing crazy things or expensive things, you just sat down, done some art and chatted to us! Much love and support to you always gal! 🥰

The secret is, that their other items are also not really worth it. We're just used to the brand being this expensive, so we accept it, even if it's not justified.
The bag is super cute! Pretty sure that’s why it’s so expensive. I would have expected the colored pencils to be crap because they aren’t an art supply company. They could have at least made them different like multicolored or something 🥴 but if i had the money I’d definitely grab the bag and put my favorite colored pencils in them but then again why’d they downgrade to only 12 pencils 😭😭😭 great video you never disappoint 💃💃💃

The Strathmore cotton mixed media paper you're using in the video to swatch is actually great for watercolour pencils and watercolour studies. I use it for waterbased markers and watercolour pencil doodles.
The reason why the price is so high is because of the case and not the “main” item which is no surprise as they are a luxury clothing brand but to have the colouring pencils be That bad is a absolute joke it’s like they bought cheap pencils and just shoved them in the luxury box

Hello from Brazil, Rae! Do you know what's been puzzling me since your first Louis Vitton Purchase? Both, Louis Vitton and Gucci have on their barrels the same symbol that identifies them as watercolor as Caran D'Ache does! I have a box of 40 Supracolor Soft Aquarelle Caran D'Ache pencils that look very much like the first Louis Vitton package, including the silver and gold ones. And the little golden brush on the barrel is absolutely the same. I have other watercolor pencils and each brand uses a different symbol, picture, or word to identify them as watercolor. Why don't you make a video comparing your Caran D'Aches to your LVs and Guccis? I would be here with my fingers crossed hoping to learn they not only use low-quality pencils but also copy a traditional brand's symbol. It would be very disappointing, though revealing if they were real Caran D'Aches. Hope you're well and healthy. XOXO 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷 Martha
Stunned they made another one. They could do SO much artistically with the brand, colours unavailable anywhere else…they could incorporate colours from their makeup lines…and this is what they put out. For creativity and thoughtfulness: a zero. For cash grab and exactly what we would expect from LV and their awful huge brand: 10/10 expected Love your channel, so happy you did this update! 🌈✨

These pencils are the equivalent of cardboard "credit cards" you get when you buy a new wallet. The case is the product; the pencils aren't worth mentioning at all - it just shows it can fit 12 and what thickness. A review for this product could belong on a fashion channel who would offer more insight about the design, the collaboration and why it's worth more than the roll-up.
lol what BS. If LV is selling pencils they should be the same quality of the pouch. They put their name and logo on the pencils that means they branded them. If you put your brand on something, you need to make sure the quality matches your brand's quality.
@@nyotauhura7412 do you think people who care about quality pencils, would want some random expensive brand, or the one brand they buy, trust, and use all the time? pencils run out, you aren't going to throw the bag out, you'd just replace them anyway if they were selling the pencils as high quality they would sell "refills"
@@germansheph5890 well, that's actually the fault of the creator for leading you on about what the product is. On the LV site this item is described as "FORNASETTI COLOR POUCH" and in the description and details of the product they never state anything about the pencils. So, it's pretty clear the product they want to sell it's the pouch, not the pencils. And the price is similar to their Mark Folder, expect this pouch is smaller and its a collaboration with a brand. Nevertheless, its still totally not worth it, given that luxury brands don't actually use quality materials, and even if they do, like in this case, where they use leather, this product still took less then 20£ to make;*))

@@jessicapearson9479 I believe it would work for most wax based pencils
OMG Rae you don't know that how much i wait for your video keep shining and creating your amazing art piece love from India
when you held the packaging up next to you, it reminded me of the letter scene from blue’s clues
I wanted to ask if you could test their watercolor compatibility, you can tell their watercolor cause of the brush on the pencil. I also wondered if you could compare them to the og caradache color pencils, not the luminance. They seem awfully similar, caradache are a luxury swiss brand so maybe thats where they got their inspiration from!
hi sorry i forgot to say thank you :D
You're literally buying the brand. If you want high end art supplies, go to a source that is known for that. Lol
I guess they have to fill it with something. Tissue papers won't work.
Seriously….you are always so engaging and help people like me (definitely not an artist but tries her best lol) have an understanding of what I’m looking for/purchasing when I grab art supplies! I’m not usually the person to comment or interact on TH-cam because uhhhhh ✨anxiety✨ but I just felt the need to tell you that you’re really REALLY good at what you do and your passion shows through your art and your videos❤️
The bag or pencil pouch of the color pencils are very slick and I luv them! I luv you Rae
Hey rae I just wanna say how much I love you and how your videos brighten up my day, tysm for making me feel better, sending lots of love and a hug🥺❤️
The packaging is preety cool! But, the price is cray cray. Love your videos!
Great work exposing this!! Most people seem to not realize the vastly common practice of drop shipping low cost products/rebranding from Alibaba and others
Hi Rae...I just wanted to say that you inspired me to start drawing with colored pencils! Thank you! Keep going!!
Hey Rae, big fan for a long time now. Would love if you could do a video at the end of the month or something where instead of testing crazy things or expensive things, you just sat down, done some art and chatted to us! Much love and support to you always gal! 🥰
Might buy that just for the packaging👀👀
I've been binge watching you and my mom kept hearing your voice and started watching you herself. She loves the way your voice sounds and how you make your videos, which is shocking because she hated everyone I watch because they act "weird" ig 😭
you know it’s a good day when Rae posts!
can you do the celeb art supplies part 2? would LOVE it
Can we just appreciate the
price she pays for us and our entertainment?
Love you, Rae!
Also, I have never heard of a better way
to explain compressed wood as “the hotdog of woods.” Lol
Ræ
Your makeup is on POINT Rae 🤌❤️
The packaging just got more and more extreme- clearly I’ve never bought Anything that ✨ Fancy ✨
The secret is, that their other items are also not really worth it. We're just used to the brand being this expensive, so we accept it, even if it's not justified.
I always thought a lot of their designs were cheap looking.
I don't accept it. I never buy anything from them no matter what it is.
Love that you looken up sourcing! I am all about the dets! Love your stuff ❤
I love Rae's videos sooo much!!
Same! She's iconic
Inside 30 mins lets go!! Btw I love your vids rae.
Imagine if they partnered with caran d ache and did something with quality. Their leather is wholesale and it's printed leather so they can afford it.
And this is how super rae dizzle, the legend, pops back into my recommended after 2+ years of not watching her
Thanks TH-cam
And you look fab love the hair!
When asking the question as to why just look at the price gap from what LV/Gucci charges to what the manufacturer charges and you'll have your answer. Thanks for a great video, Rae!
I appreciate the video quality and production. Idk if ik is just me, but it felt amped up with all the little sound effects. 😊
Meanwhile Me after buying Polychromos (20$) Never Use It because Ita so expensive for me....so I put that in showcase ...and continue using cheap pencil 😂😂
I had no idea how much I needed this video! Thanks :)
They went from $24/pencil to $101/pencil...gotta love luxury 🤣
been awhile since I watched u Rae! Glad to be back, I forgot how much I loved these vids
with that money you couldove got copics, prisma colors, Or probably the whole art section at dollar tree tbh
Your unboxing is just sooo gooood!!
Words can’t express
100000/10 unboxing
When I saw your Instagram story, I knew it was coming and I somehow knew that the pencils would be a mess😂. Btw the video was amazing😊
I sat down with a cup of tea and a couple of cookies and what do I find? Rae! Rae has made a new video! Now that's a Good Morning!
Fun video, thanks for taking the hit for the team. I never even knew that these fashion houses made art supplies and surprise! they don't. They make purses for pencils. I use a $4 pouch from United Art and Education; this is obviously why I'm such a crude artist because our pencils are the same, it's the purse that makes the artist. 🤣
Thanks again for another great video!
I love these videos 🤩🤩🤩
Same!😮
Nah
I love your videos! As a new artist I love when I see actual amazing artists making very informative but entertaining videos!
Yes! Can't wait to watch!!
It was very informative and yes...I knew they would be crap lol. I will stick to my Polychromos thank you very much!
Thanks for reviewing them anyway Rae....As always, you rock! Can't wait for your next upload!
I recently found you channel and i have watched so many videos, you really have a catchy personality and you show the love you have for art and how you really enjoy making these videos and talking about art products. Thanks to you i have decided that i want to start learning drawing, i just wanted to congratulate you for having such a warm hearted cool channel. Un saludo desde Uruguay!
XOXO 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Martha
Stunned they made another one. They could do SO much artistically with the brand, colours unavailable anywhere else…they could incorporate colours from their makeup lines…and this is what they put out. For creativity and thoughtfulness: a zero. For cash grab and exactly what we would expect from LV and their awful huge brand: 10/10 expected
Love your channel, so happy you did this update! 🌈✨
Personally, I think people only buy it for the experience and the packaging and not the pencils.
Your video s inspire me to start drawing and painting again. Haven’t drawn since I was 14 or something, 26 now. I used to do water paint with my grandma when I was really young. Damn miss those days. Thank you 🙏🏻
These pencils are the equivalent of cardboard "credit cards" you get when you buy a new wallet.
Nevertheless, its still totally not worth it, given that luxury brands don't actually use quality materials, and even if they do, like in this case, where they use leather, this product still took less then 20£ to make;*))
Thank you I used to draw when I was younger but as I got older I kinda drifted away from it but then I came across your channel and it sparked a flame and now I am back to drawing because you inspired me to get better thank you
Unironically the bag looks horrible
I literally screaaamed when I saw the notif!! Thank you so much for uploading rae, ilysmmm!! ❤️❤️
Also, that was one really expensive second chance to LV💀😭
So expensive yet the designs by almost all of those expensive brands are hideous lmao🤣
(I'd rather have something good looking (and comfy) that's cheap or affordable instead of expensive stuff that looks ugly but is brag worthy, but that's just my opinion..)
I recommend trying the prismacolour scholar pencils, they're surprisingly good quality. And unlike the premiere pencils, they don't break randomly
I need the name of this song, please 7:42
I have been searching for hours and i can't find it 😖😤
me toooooooooo😭😭😭
it's Rendez Voodoo ft. Andy Delos Santos - Come Move Your Body
@@rowaboat6019 Thankss :3
Hi Rae I am a new fan and I just can't stop watching your videos. Keep doing what you do!
Gosh I was actually so mad at Rae for buying this crap but then she does it for us only.
I'm glad you mentioned the barrel, because as someone who LOVES to use color pencils, I immediately thought "cheap" as soon as you revealed the pencils...
First
Can't wait to watch!
You aren't achieving anything special
@@gombocky4939 I never said I was
Yep you ARE the first congrats!
You know, I'd rather place the pencils somewhere and use the beautiful pouch for a better set of pencils you can bring on the road! hahahha
WOW .. you are so articulate and annunciated. I wasn't that bothered about the pencil after 3mins in .. your public speaking is EXCELLENT. Hope you go on to do great things with your channel. Best wishes from the UK
Not me wholeheartedly singing your transition music 😅 a bop
Raeee you should review the caran d’ ache colored pencils!!!!!
Could you make a veidio were you show all of your sketches and sketch books please
@ 11:41 sorry to go off topic but i just love how they put their rice paddies next to their heavy industry, makes things so much easier.
her playing material girl is was like, "MATERIAL GORL!" cause Rae is one! PERIOT
We needed a battle of luxury brands ♥️ but guess that's not possible cos these colors are exact same.
QUEEN HAS RETURNED !!
WE REPEAT THE QUEEN HAS RETURNED 👑👸🎨🖌️👩🎨
This is my favorite art TH-cam channel even more the @ZHC.
The pencil case design is pretty neat I like the colors. Shame the pencils are not actually high end It would be cool to see them colab with a high end pencil company like Caran D’ache pencils!
FENDI JUST CAME OUT WITH COLORED PENCILS!! Please do a review!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💜💜💜
Be right there gotta watch the ads first. Every view supports Rae!
Awe thanks! I appreciate you!!!
the eye in the back Wow I love it I kept on looking at it through the whole video lol
I only just found you and omg I wish I found you earlier you are so cool and talented and just so cool like OMG YOU MAKE ME SO HAPPY
i like the idea of using the original 40 count pencil holder or them selling it without the pencils. they have agenda covers which again, not necessary but could be cute for someone who is into stationary
I don’t care so much about these pencils but your vid production rocks! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Rae payed for the logo rather than the item itself, its such a shame as louis Vuitton's packaging is stunning and could be a best seller in the market
You are an amazing artist and a creator here. I wish you all best in the world. Love ya💜
I would use this case with a little diy as a clutch. It's a masterpiece!
They should have done a collab with someone like Blackwing. LV and all those brands have really gone so far down in quality I can’t believe people are still paying these prices for a name only. Thanks for the fun video!
The pencil roll is so dope tho... like... so much cooler than the plain old Luis Vitton font...
Jusy finished watching this video and i am LIVID that they probably got these pencils for SIX FIFTY A PACK!!! Like... ahhhh
I deeply relate when Rae said saying the price out loud is like a dagger through the heart. 😅 I cringed every time she said how much these terrible pencils cost.
The packaging is sooo beautiful!
honestly how you rate this makes sense and its true for an artist.
ohh wow..I love Louis Vuitton handbags and wallets but totally agree with you.
What a surprise. I'm glad you finally got around to testing some designer art supplies. So shocked though to find out that they are just really basic supplies and it's really the container that is the expensive part. Who would have thought! I sure wouldn't have thought because it's not like anyone has tested any of these things before. OMG, lyk ur so awesum. (Is there an emoji that shoots itself in the head?)
