I just took delivery on my 24x 48 double door on 4/23/2021. Have not had a chance to work with mine yet due to rainy weather. However, I’m very excited about it. Thanks for sharing your experience.👍
Like I said in a previous post, my first pit. I got the best. Easy to learn on. They run like a machine. LSG ain’t cheap and neither is their workmanship. We’ll worth the investment. You’ll pass it down to the grandkids.
Really excellent video, very informative, and thorough. Congratulations on owning such a beautiful, high quality pit. I have a RecTeq Pellet grill. How do you think the flavour differs from a pellet grill to an offset smoker? Thanks again, very well done video.
Awesome smoker. Ive gone back and forth between LSG and Workhorse pits. When I have the time/money, im leaning towards Workhorse since I can pick it up locally.
I got my 1st pit from LSG. It’s a 24x60” offset with the single door and counterweight. This cooks like a machine. I didn’t get a guru Decided to learn the cooker without bells an whistles. One thing I would like to suggest is a drain mod. I took the valve off of the bottom and put a union there. Then a 90 deg. elbow. To that a length of pipe about 16 to 18” then the valve back on that lastly another elbow to direct the water to s bucket. I snugged the union tight enough so I can swing its whole assembly in and out from under the chamber. ( union doesn’t leak). I used black iron material. No reaching under the cooker to move a heavy bucket. Had this pit about 4 years now. Glad I got the best to learn from.
Great review, I just place an order today for the 24 x 48 smoker. Four-month lead time on production. I can’t wait to get it. Thanks for your detailed review. Much appreciated.
Great review. My question to you is....when using the firebox griddle...where does any grease go? Does it pool up alongside or drip down onto the flames?
That is a beautiful pit Sandy! If your not already in love with it, you soon will be. My LSG offset is still, hands down my favorite smoker. I heard you mention you were going to get the fire management basket. Even though the fire is easy to control without it, you will most definitely love having the fire management basket, and especially with the fire assist you have. You should also get a logo plate with your logo from LSG. I just drilled and riveted mine in myself. It really makes the smoker pop with that bit of bling LOL. Congrats Sandy on a wonderful pit!
@@JusPiddlinBBQ I also meant to say earlier, that the time of year plays a huge role in how big a split I use. In July and August, it only takes a very small fire to maintain 250 degrees, but in the colder months, I can easily burn longer splits and still maintain good temps.
Awesome review! Can't beat Lone Star Grillz build quality! Best around hands down! My custom 24x48 single door w/ counter weight with the 1/2 inch fire box, 24" vertical along with the warming oven and all the bells and whistles should be ready any day now! (Order placed on August 4th). Mr. Russ Jones from Smoky Ribs and Justin from Baby Back Maniac were a big part on me going with a LSG! Can't wait to see more of your videos cooking on this beast!
Just ordered the 24x40 after this video was back and fourth between a lot of brands but the quality looks amazing in this pit as do the other but they also made the order process easy and painless besides the shipping costs to NJ lol. Thanks for the video
Yea man. It's beautiful! I have the 24x40 that 4yrs old now. The best smoker out there,, period! Actually just pulled a 10lb butt after a 11.5hrs smoke. Love it love it love. Enjoy 😉
Your gonna love the 20x36 Jonas. I got mine about a year ago and it performs so much better than any other offset I've had. Even the 20x36 is a beast. It's been fun learning to cook on this. Chris and the guys at Lonestar are the best. Enjoy!!
I'd love to have one of these, but it would be so overkill considering I never have people over or anything. I just want to be able to do a shitload of briskets at one time in the event I ever get some friends lol.
Bruh. Just invite neighbors and such like I did. I did three briskets and invited and got like 22 extra guests from my neighborhood and met some new people
Dude . Buy a larger smoker than what you THINK you may need is like buying a gun safe . No one regrets buying larger than what they need . You never know what the future holds . You’ll have neighbors wanting you to cook for them .
I'm looking into getting this 24×36 just knowing I can cook whatever & the room amount on shelf racks..whether company or just two...left overs r great!! I'm a little gal,but I'll configure a way to open/close the heavy drum door..but I love the slider racks 4 sure..& the bottom drum draining line...'easy breezy' clean up' FINALLY...' I've found my life time grill ❤❤....LSG...I'll be calling u soon...saving my 💰
I enjoy watching your videos. I’m just starting out and have watched a lot of your content . Being a newbie to smoking, what would you recommend? I have seen your videos from gorilla to this one😃
Really good review. I’ve been on the hunt fir a smoker. This review helps alot. Like someone else said it’s kinda big. We don’t have many people over our house so I would get a smaller model.
If you get the size you think is right, you’ll wish later you went bigger. I got the 24x60” single door for my first pit. Don’t always use all the space inside , but some of my cooks are for church and parties. Then I’m glad I went big. Wood consumption isn’t much more.
Nice Review Beatiful pit. I'm curios I followed you when you were the main pitmaster using the Gorilla Silverback I never seen reason when you went to treager. I always like to know when someone moves on especially when you had more content on the Silverback than any one else.
John Knapp yea I just felt like it was time to move on. It basically turned into me being a GG customer service rep only with no benefits. The folks at Traeger help me out a lot and have really stepped up their game with the new D2 series.
I know you shelled some $$ but obviously well made product. Was the flavor really that much better on the food? I come from the Kamado world and I’ve done some great cooks being careful with the wood chunks cuz of over smoke. Any regrets now?
I very much enjoyed yer review, Amigo! Might it be possible to git th measurements of both th firebox griddle plate, an th firebox cookin grate, when ya have a spare minute or three??? Many Thanks, all y'all stay safe an well, down there to Texas... (I'll be back downhome there, in a few years (retirement), Good Lord willin, an th crick don't rise... ;-) I'm holdin off gittin my LSG til then, so's I don't have to move it! :-)
Great vid dude! How many baby backs can you fit on that hog? Also do you find the counter top getting dirty and hard to clean being its a grate, thinkin about getthing the stainless steel counter top.
Is that size ok for small Cooks as well? Sometimes it would be just me the wife and daughter and just a few slabs would do, also how many slabs of St. Louis style ribs would fit in this thing? Great Video and hope You get some amazing cooks out of her.

Sandy I am officially jealous of you now my man. That is the Abrahms Tank of smoker grills. I bet that thing will turn ground chuck burgers into a wagyu brisket. That was a beautiful shot with the blue smoke rollin and the best looking pork shoulders I've ever seen. Miss Brandy will be living like a Queen with all that great BBQ. Also, feel free to tell that generous donor where I live too. Lol. Good to see you Sandy. I've been wondering how you all have been. I will be there Christmas day for some of that Lone Star Grills smoked ham and sweet tater casserole. LOL
@@JusPiddlinBBQ I am doing fine as well. Been sitting around biting my nails in suspense hoping the runoff election goes well down there in GA. I heard that the devil made it back down there and Charlie Daniels is not there to beat him down so its up to all you Red voters to do it for us. Beat them at their own game, vote early and vote often. Lol. I will be there Wednesday's at 8:00 to see if you and Mrs. Brandy bless us with another Piddlin' world wide live show.
Thank you for your walk around and comments. With the tuning plates, do you get any radiant heat that cooks the meat faster than if you didnt have tuning plates underneath?
I'm about to upgrade from an Old Country Brazos and I've been seriously looking at this exact same pit, but the tuning plates are the only drawback I'm having. Wouldn't they create more radiant heat so you're cooking from the bottom up versus convection style from top down. Do you have an issue with things getting overcooked on the bottom?
No, the tuning plates do not cover the entirety of the bottom of the pit. If overcooking is a concern, put the meat on the smoke stack end....no tuning plates on that end.
Great video Smitty! Good to see you. That smoker is the shit! I want one. I am still cooking some great meat with my WSM and kettle grill for steaks. I use my gas Webber Genesis for burgers and such. Semper Fi bro.
Now, you Sir, have a mighty fine and modest friend who I hope is going to join you for some wonderful BBQ on that there smoker in place of any credit for such a gift. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
